July 11, 2004. Sunday. Back/Bi Day. I went to Cedar Point yesterday all day long, and was pretty tired this morning for my workout. I did good on evrything except deadlifts. I had terrible deadlifts today . Not much intensity.

BB Bent Over Rows

175 x 5
175 x 5
175 x 4

Deadlifts

225 x 6 Speed Reps
315 x 2 Speed Reps sorta lol
340 x 4
340 x 2
No third set, i gave up

Last week i got 340 3x4...so this was upsetting.

Lat Pulldowns

130 3x4

BB Curls

100 x 5
100 x 4
100 x 4

DB Curls

35 x 2

I think for Biceps, im gonna start doing only 2 sets of BB Curls, and 1 set of DB Curls. My biceps are beat to hell after back day already, so i don't htink they need a ton of direct work.

I did goo don everything except deadlifts, for lack of intensity . The first two sets were warmups and the sets of 340 were the heavy sets. Sigh...

July 13, 2004 Shoulders/Traps Day.

DB Military Press

67 x 3
67 x 3 (Lost balance on fourth rep and had to drop my left dumbbell. Doh)
67 x 1 (Was dead tired lol)
This week i had increased. I am not too sad about this, hoped to get 4 on each set, but I think I will still increase.

Upright Rows

95 x 6
100 x 6
100 x 6
I was doing way too much weight and not bringing the weight up enough, and my hands were not placed properly. Dropped 20 lbs off this lift and am doing it right, now.

Reverse Flyes

47 x 6
47 x 6

Lateral Raises

37 x 6
37 x 6

Front Raises

42 x 6
42 x 6

BB Shrugs

315 x 10
315 x 10

Not too bad of a workout. Was pleased with everything except the Military presses.

I went to my buddy's house today and Maxed on bench press. I got 225 clean today! It was beautiful.

He then proceeds to get 315 like air, and then go to 335, hit the bench hook and throw him off, go back down to 325, get that like nothin, go back up to 335, and almost get it LOL. That dude can do volume like i have never seen...amazing.

Anyway, im happy with the 225 max. Next goal: 275.

July 15, 2004 Leg Day

My heart started skipping beats and when that happens it makes me feel nautious and lightheaded when my heart rate gets up there from working out, so I discontinued my workout after the following:

Deep squat

135 x 10
155 x 6
175 x 3
185 x 1
195 x 2 (shoulda been heavy set for 6, 2 were easy, but heart freaks me out when it skips like it did today)

SLDL's

225 x 6 (easy set, made my heart rate get up there, and heart was skipping beats)

I hate when it does that, it is a random thing. UGH!

Great job on the new bench PR! That's kinda freaky about your heart. Does that happen often? You ever talk to a doctor about it?

Thanks Gdawg.

Not this problem specificially, but I had a problem a couple years ago with something called Atrial Fibrillation. It is harmless, but it is very uncomfortable and scary. You can look up what it is on google if interested.

This is something new, but I think it is harmless, it is just very awkward and it feels eary. I will talk to the doc next time i see her about it.

The first time i ever had an episode of Atrial Fib was when i started takign MYOPLEX, which is supposed to just be a MRP. I started getting episodes and when i quit taking the MRP, everything stopped happening. Hmm! Soemting in it must just not like me. So now i don't take ANY supplements at all, pure natural food is all i eat. I was checked out by Univ of Michigan doctors (world renowned for heart dept) and my regular physician. They said it was harmless and I could resume my normal life. But this skipped beats thing is kinda new lol.

This is the second time it has happened where ive noticed it. It is random. I think it happened about 3 weeks ago or so when I was doing my back workouts. I really noticed it during deadlifts, when i would put all my strength into doing it, and got my heart rate up.

Basically what it does is at rest, when the heart is not that accelerated, it beats just fine most of the time. Sometimes i can still feel skipped beats at rest but they don't freak me out and i don't feel weird. It is after I perform a set of squats or something that gets my heart rate up high that i really can feel it. My heart beats about 4 times normally and then skips a beat, beats 3 or 4 more times normally and skips a beat. When it skips, i feel nautious, almost like i wanna panic or something. If i stop and wait for my heart to calm down, it disappears on me lol. Usually I don't have this for more than one workout in a row and it goes away, but just comes back when it feels like it seemingly. It is probably harmless, but it is scary, so i stop what im doing. It sucks too cause I have to give up a whole workout. I wouldn't mind so much if it was cardio, but it bothers me when i gotta do a half-ass weightlifting routine cause of it. I take my workouts seriously.

If anyone else has anything like this happen to them, I would like to know, it might make me feel less worried about it so I can just continue my workout and try to ignore it lol.

July 17, 2004 Saturday, Chest/Tri day.

Oh what a killer workout i had, my God.

If you look back at my last chest/tri day, i got 195 on flat bench for 4, 4, 3. hehe lets see how i did this week!

BB Flat Bench Press

195 x 6 (probably coulda got 7)
195 x 3 (coulda got 4, got psyched out lol)
195 x 4
waited 3 mins:
225 x 1 MISSED IT. Was pissed. I got it half way up then had no more in the tank. ALMOST! I maxed this past wednesday and got 225 for 1 pretty easy, so i know i can get it now. Anyways, ON TO THE 200s FINALLY for reps! This is AWESOME! THANKS JASTER JASTER JASTER! lol

BB Incline Press

160 x 3
160 x 3
175 x 1 Missed lol I think the attempt at 225 flat bench threw me off on this exercise. I was tired after flat press.

DB Flat Press

77 x 6
77 x 5
77 x 4
Move up to 82's next week. I wont' be able to get these on my lap in position pretty soon, getting too heavy lol. What a great feeling though.

Skullcrushers

85 x 4
85 x 3.5 (left tricep not pullin his weight)
85 x 2 dead tired

Bench Dips with Bodyweight

1 x 6
1 x 5

Cable Pushdowns

65 x 5

Done. Whew. I cant believe the progress i made on flat bench today. Over the last 3 weeks I kinda went nowhere on it, then boom, i go up bigtime in reps.

3 weeks ago I think it was this:
195 x 4, 4, 3
2 weeks ago I think it was this:
195 x 3, 3, 2
1 week ago I think it was this:
195 x 4, 4, 3
Today it was this:
195 x 6, 3, 4. Pretty happy with it. On to 205!!!

No skipping heart today either. I love it.

Hey Firehawk, was just checking on the progress, congrats on dropping 50 pounds, that's a LOT of weight, pick up a 50 lb DB and chew on that, GREAT WORK!!!! Sounds like you've got a lot more confidence and feeling good lately, :

I have only dreamed of pressing 315. I know I am fully capable with my body type and frame size etc. I just never thought I could put the time in enough to get there. Now I am moving up the 200s quite nicely on my max, and am over a quarter of the way to it. I am excited to say the least.

Finally, I broke 340 :

July 19, 2004. Monday, Back/Biceps

I went into this workout feeling worn down and tired. Ive done this before, and my body has suddenly woke up as I begin to lift the iron!

BB Bent Over Rows

175 x 6
175 x 6
175 x 6

Deadlifts

340 x 6
340 x 5
340 x 4
Going to 350 next week!

Lat Pulldown

130 x 5
130 x 5
130 x 4

BB Curls

100 x 5 3/4
100 x 4
100 x 4 1/2
Going to 105 next week.

DB Alternating Curls

47 x 3
47 x 3

Very strong workout surprisingly. I went into this workout so tired and feeling like crap. Had a headache, in a pissy mood. Then suddenly my body just energizes. One thing that I will say helped, is I dropped one of those metal chairs (u see in wrestling people getting hit with ) on my big toe. That stung like a MOFO and i was sooo PISSED off. That happened just before my first set of deadflifts, which probably helped me to get that weight up lol.

Man, you're really getting strong on those deads. I wouldnt be surprised if you could hit 405 for 2 or 3 right now. Really looking good.

July 21, 2004. Wednesday, Shoulders/Traps Day

Dumbbell Military Press

67 x 5
67 x 4
67 x 3
Big improvement from last week of 3, 3, 1.

Barbell Upright Rows

100 x 6
100 x 6
100 x 5
Pretty easy, go to 105 next week.

DB Reverse Flyes

47 x 8
47 x 6
Was feelin strong on the first set, tired on second. Go to 52's next week.

Lateral Raises

37 x 6
37 x 6
Pretty easy. Go to 42's next week.

Front Raises

42 x 6
42 x 6
These are real heavy, ill stay at 42's for one more week.

Barbell Shrugs

315 x 10

Was too tired to do another set of shrugs. I feel good after this workout, one of the better shoulder workouts ive had for sure! It is getting real hard to be able to get the dumbbells in position for Military press. I gotta wield them up with momentum and kinda duck under them LOL .
