Squat Day

Went light again.

45 x 10
95 x 6
145 x 6

195 x 3
195 x 3
195 x 3
235 x 1
The first set of 195 felt heavy, the rest got easier as i went. The 235 went up faster than the 195 sets. I don't know. I definitely feel like i've gotten quite a bit weaker in my legs but it was just nice to be back. I'll work up to 285 next week and then 315+ the following.

Reverse Hypers - light and paused at the bottom

140 x 10
140 x 10
140 x 10
Got my heart rate up on these. Also crushed my nuts a few times.

45° Hypers - light, didn't use any weight, just body weight. Usually i'll wrap bands around my neck.

3 x 10

Done. Heart got a good workout today. All the stuff got my heart rate up good. I was going t do more but i didn't want to push it. next week ill get back to a bit heavier lifting.

what exactly is your squatting routine? Do you do a heavy single each time? Or should I just do what you have laid out in the routine you gave to me, you had 5 x 2 for the heavy squats?

5 x 2 is fine. I do anything from singles to doubles to triples etc. Right now im just getting back into things. Ill probably do 3 x 3 with a heavy single for awhile.

360. My best numbers are:

Bench 285
Squat 360
Dead 500

My dead would be higher but my legs are holding me back now.

And how long were you training for strength altogether? I want to guage my own progress if I follow a similar routine to yours. I love the 500 dead...I would love to get to that. Squatting sucks, I hate it with a passion, deadlifting is so much more fun, and of course you know what I feel about bench

i dont' know dude my situation was unique. My best decent squat was only like 245 until i went to Detroit Barbell. When i got there i squatted 360 in about 6 months.

I don't like squatting either. I'd rather deadlift twice a week. But i do it anyway.

that's awesome progress : I guess being surrounded by the big boys was an awesome motivator? Not to mention they probably explained how to do it the right way

When you got 10 or more people watching you from all angles you can't get away with anything. Plus when you are surrounded by people that are much stronger than you, then suddenly your goals don't seem that tough to achieve. I wanted to squat 3 plates and i got to it in like a month or so. Then i wanted 4 plates and was well on my way until my heart surgery. So i gotta get back there.

I don't like squats. I'm tall and i never feel comfortable under the bar ever, never feel comfortable in the hole, never trust myself. It'sj ust seotmthing i guess will come as i keep doing it over the years.

I found a video of me squatting 315 at home. I'll post it in a few minutes just as soon as i upload it. I broke parallel on it and didn't lose my arch for once lol. The next week i went for a new attempt at 335 and i smoked it like it was a speed rep for some reason so they put 360 on and i just barely got that. That was my ultimate max.

Good Song!! I might need to put that on next time, maybe it will energize me a bit, lol

Today I wasn't really feeling "on" so I wonder if I could have done 315 once today? Who knows, but the 300 was tough by the 4th set. See my problem is I gotta learn to use my quads to drive myself up. I know there are a lot of muscles at play in the squat, but for some reason, for me, when I really focus on using my quads to lift the weight, the rep comes out a lot better in the end.

I'll just keep at it I guess. I work out at home now, so there ain't no big boys around me to add weight to the bar every time I make a lift, lol, so I will be playing it safe.

I worked out at home too for a long time. You saw me get the 315 in that video, what u didn't see was that i tried to do it again 5 mins after that and i got stuck and had to throw the weight off of me lol. Oh well big deal. Don't worry about it. Just toss the weight off your back if you get stuck.

You got 2 weeks till you squat again right? So go 305 for sets of 2 and see what you can get. It's supposed to get hard, that's how you make gains.
