Gnat Gets Fit!

On December 14th of this year I'll turn 30. I weigh 257 pounds right now and my goal is to get down to 200 by my birthday. I am doing three days a week cardio and 3 days a week resistance training. So far this week I have done the following.

1. Setup a Blog at http://EatLessExerciseMore.blogspot.com to publicly declare my comittment to fitness.
2. Joined a gym on Monday.
3. Worked out every day since joining the gym
- Tuesday : 30 minutes Stationary Bike
- Wenesday : Complete body free weights
- Thursday : 30 minutes Swimming
4. Began faithfully tracking my food intake.

I'll post more as I progress.

Week Two

I've been to the gym twice this week. Monday I did weights and today I did 30 minutes on the elliptical trainer. My arms and legs are pretty tired.

I've been tracking my food intake with Weight Watchers and I've lost two pounds since last week.

I updated my blog to include a weight loss progress chart and to talk about some of my triggers for getting fit.

Hey, Gnat, congrats your decision. I did the same thing in September of last year. In a bizarre group of coincidences, I was:

1) Turning 30 on Jan 10th
2) Exactly 257 Pounds
3) Wanting to lose 50 pounds
4) Had done "Body for Life"

Odd, eh?

Anyhow, check my journal for my pictures. I never thought I'd make it this far. Now I'm 2 pounds short of 200, and am still not satisfied. I thought there would be an end. Nope. It's fun to go from seeing the inches go away, to now adding inches on things like biceps, calves, chest, while the waist still gets smaller.

My only regrets are that I didn't take my before pictures IMMEDIATLY. If you haven't, take some NOW. I never got my befores developed until I took the afters. I didn't think I looked much skinnier, until I saw the pics side by side. Now, my girlfriend is going through her weight loss, and says the same thing. She will look at herself in the mirror, and not think she's much skinnier. However, when I bust out the before pics...different story.

Pics, and measurements. Measure the gut, the waist, the thighs, calves, chest, etc. Screw the scale. I might never hit 200 with my current BF%. Oh well.

Again, congrats on the start of a very, very fun journey.

A little bit of a setback

I didn't get to workout wed - fri of last week because I was sick. I pretty much could only rest and try not to over eat. Still, I managed to lose two pounds last week . I also posted a before pic on my blog. Hopefully I will soon have some dramatic improvement pics!

Hopefully? Just follow the plan every day, or more accurately, every 3 hours, and the weight will come off. Did you see my before and afters? Shocking is what most people say. Yet most people don't know that I had a pretty healthy drinking habit left over from my college days throughout the time those were taken. Imagine where I could have gotten without it!

If I can do it, anyone can. You're prime to start losing now. The biggest key? Patience. I know, I still don’t have much.
