Hey, Gnat, congrats your decision. I did the same thing in September of last year. In a bizarre group of coincidences, I was:
1) Turning 30 on Jan 10th
2) Exactly 257 Pounds
3) Wanting to lose 50 pounds
4) Had done "Body for Life"
Odd, eh?
Anyhow, check my journal for my pictures. I never thought I'd make it this far. Now I'm 2 pounds short of 200, and am still not satisfied. I thought there would be an end. Nope. It's fun to go from seeing the inches go away, to now adding inches on things like biceps, calves, chest, while the waist still gets smaller.
My only regrets are that I didn't take my before pictures IMMEDIATLY. If you haven't, take some NOW. I never got my befores developed until I took the afters. I didn't think I looked much skinnier, until I saw the pics side by side. Now, my girlfriend is going through her
weight loss, and says the same thing. She will look at herself in the mirror, and not think she's much skinnier. However, when I bust out the before pics...different story.
Pics, and measurements. Measure the gut, the waist, the thighs, calves, chest, etc. Screw the scale. I might never hit 200 with my current BF%. Oh well.
Again, congrats on the start of a very, very fun journey.
