Hope you wake up feeling 100% in the morning. The forced rest is probably great for you. You can watch more TV.

Adrien Grenier, he is a hottie! I love entourage.
That sucks that you aren't feeling good, the rest will be good for you though. Enjoy it, enjoy the food if you can.. your workouts have been so great you deserve it

The trainers at my gym said training full time is extreamly tough so most of them do it PT and are able to make enough money that way. My old trainer who was full time would work 5:30am-10:30 then break then come back at 3 or 4 and sometimes train until 10pm. That is way too much for me. I'm looking at a couple of gyms now, but gotta figure out how to market myself as I have not worked in a gym in 8 or so years.

Each to their own. From my experience, YES a new trainer (including those with long breaks in their training career) need to get in the trenches and put time in. The "glory of training" comes later (IMO). I started the same way. I trained from 5:30 in the morning to 8:30 at night. I did so to really learn the business and learn how to train. A cert does not make the trainer. The experience and wisdom does. These days I refuse to train more than 5 people per day. At this point I don't get paid peanuts...my clients pay me well.
Eh, I'm lecturing....glad you got to speak to your b/f. Time away can be pretty rough on relationships

Thanks for your feedback ty. Right now I am not interested in training full time regardless of how good of a trainer it will make me. The gym I have been talking to only has 1 FT trainer and the rest are PT because people tend to burn out too easily, plus working FT you are forced to hit sales goals and you are not (at this gym) forced to working PT. I'd like to get some practice slowly by taking on a few clients at a time rather then jumping into it full time right away. Obviously a cert doesen't make a trainer, time, practice and knowledge does. I wouldn't trust most trainers with certs, even more so now that I have been through it! oh and my trainer who worked those crazy hours was great, but I think he would have been even better if he only worked PT. He was always too exhaused and running late. 1/2 the time he would be pretty out of it because he only got 3-4 hours of sleep.
Anyway I'm sure I will figure things out, but I am taking it one step at a time.

Gym Girl I'm pacing in front of my computer...scratching at the ground with one foot...jutting my head in and out....holding my arms like chicken wings...and making chicken clucking noises for you
Each to their own here....and most find out eventually and some never get it. If something is worth doing it's worth doing all the way. Your trainer is not you. You should learn from his mistakes and others. It sounds like you fear failure. Most people do....but judging from your workout....I would gamble you wouldn't belong in that lot.
The gym that you wish to work at seems pretty bad when only one ft is on staff and the rest do a part time gig. It seems that system needs revamping or you need to seek out better gyms in better demographics.
If your afraid to take that leap now, you might always be.

haha well of corse I am scared to make a complete career change, who wouldn't be! I actually am not fearful of failure but afraid that I won't like it. I'm already stuck in a job i dread going to. The reason I do not want to work full time right now is I am burnt out of working FT!!!! I want to relax a little bit and I don't want to do this split shift business (atleast not 5am and 10pm shifts). I am one of those people that cannot be on the go all the time. I really enjoy my time alone and my rest time, that's why this business of working 5am break then until 10pm dosen't appeal to me one bit. I have been through hell and back with my past two jobs, I have been chewed up and spit out and I just want a break! I dont want to be committed right now to anything full time. Who knows that may change if I end up loving it. right now I am working on finding what my place is in this world, and for me taking it one step at a time is what i need to do. I also have to think about things like health insurance. Most gyms don't offer that and I'm not crazy to go without.
I'll have to look into other gyms as well (why don't gyms post job openings on websites damn it?!) but most of the postings I have seen advertizing an open position have been for part time jobs. I'm also considering doing an 'internship' where I can bring in friends and train them for free to get some practice. Also they would allow to me shadow to learn a thing or two...I'm still figuring things out obviously!

Thanks Pierini and Minime! I think you are right the forced rest did me good. 2 days off was great for my body. I was still drained weak today but did a quick WOD and now feel much better. p.s. I watched a lot of TV that I didn't have time for this weekend. I find I watch more TV when b/f is home when he is gone it's hard for me to stay home I try to keep busy and end up running errends and stuff.
Adrien is pretty cute, b/f said he is very nice too. I miss him. I am getting used to the 1 week but once it goes longer then that I start to break down a bit. 5 more days...

back to work, back to the gym
workout:
"Michael"
Three rounds for time of:
Run 800 meters
50 Back Extensions
50 Sit-ups
time: 18:55
(almost 2 min slower then PR of 17:18)
cooldown:
15 min flexability work, bridges, splits, valdezes
comments:
thought i might have to take another rest day, but told myself to do Michael slowly. I ran at 7.5-7.8 and pushed just a bit but not too much as I am still drained and my body dosen't feel 100%. Muscles still ache a bit. last time my runs were 8.3-8.7. Was shooting for under 20 min so am happy with that. The funniest thing was in January when Iwas 100% healthy I was PRing at 19:30 and was huffing and buffing and exhaused. After Michael today I wasn't even breathing that hard, my legs were just tired, and I still beat my time from January. Kinda weird.
Food:
carbs: 222g 41%
protein: 170g 37%
fat: 46g 23%
total cals: 1938
So last night I only woke up at 4:30 to eat 1/2 my zone bar. Today I wasn't really that hungry like I have been. I'm guessing this is all due to the fact that I took a couple days off, and NOT that I have some creature in my tummy eating everything i eat!

That's called a "baby".
Or maybe an "alien".

Gymgirl - Sharing a "success story".....I have a friend that used to do accounting but her passion has always been fitness. When she started out she gave her friends free sessions while she worked out the "kinks" and made sure she worked with us during "peak" gym times. Her strategy was to allow people to see her work style, ethic and get visibility. It was slow for her at first..... but now 4 years later has clients full-time, is making a good living and has put herself through some additional training (pilates, etc.) to increase her offerings which generates more money.
One look at your body as the result of hardwork and my guess is you will have more clients than you will be able to service. Keep us up to date.

Lots of comments gymgirl.
#1 = killer abs on that pullup photo.
#2 = I like that look on your face in the kb deadlift photo. You look like a woman trying to push out a baby in the maternity room.
#3 = the next photo is fun to look at too, the expression of your face is one that we can all relate to.
Regarding the PT discussion, I was your age when I left the comfort of a salaried job with good benefits and took the self-employment plunge. It is normal to have some fear in your belly, actually you need it to bring out the best in you. I never looked back and 25 years later I'm still at it, happy as ever that I took the plunge. Make sure you borrow anything that you'll need as getting a loan as a new self-employed person is very tough in the early years unless you have a co-signer or some awesome collateral. I bought a new car right before I took the plunge as I knew this.

Excellent photos gg! : You look like you were giving it your all for sure.
BTW - as far as the PT career goes, do what you love. If you can't see yourself training people 16 hours a day and loving it then it probably is a job not a passion. When I hit the ground fearlessly running my own business 18 months after having my first child, I absolutely could not help myself from working around the clock. It gave me total satisfaction. I still lose track of time when I do what I love.
I had a PT job one time and the owner said to me, "if you love your job you will never have to go to work." She was absolutely right.
Self-employment isn't for everyone, but for some of us it is the only way to keep us happy.
