So when do we get to see these pics???

You're right about the fan and water getting you sick. Thew few times I've gotten sick over the summer was because someone would turn on a fan or air conditioner on blast while I was sleeping. Hopefully it won't last long and you'll recover in no time.

Sounds like you found your niche in front of the camera GG! :

Now just so that you know that you are really famous, you appeared in a dream I had yesterday! I fell asleep in the late afternoon with my legs just aching from the wallballs and all I dreamt about was that you had come here to do crossfit and we did endless box jumps under Pierre's instruction the whole time (you kicked my but BTW). We finished up doing a little parkour in the kitchen jumping on furniture!

I did legs on Monday, rowing Tuesday, chest Wednesday, ran Thursday. I could hardly move (legs) Tuesday and this morning (legs again) so I decided it was time to rest. So yeah. . . I can relate to the soreness. The wierd thing is the rowing made my inner thighs (up high) real sore. Have you noticed that?
Yes, i actually do believe it or not. I was thinking about your question and I know what it is about modeling that I enjoy. I really like knowing that I have completed something and will have a finished product. My regular job just never ends, there is no reward and no sense of accomplishment. With modeling you get the shots and see them up on the monitor and it is rewarding. I'm sure it will be motivating and exciting to see the actual ads. It is very hard work, but work that so far I seem to enjoy. I like that I work hard for 5 or so hours rather then my current job where i have to sit around doing nothing.
Sounds like you've had a really hard workout week LadyC! great job! my upper inner thighs to get sore from rowing, actually I end up sore all over from rowing!

Anyway, thanks everyone for your support, I'll gets some pictures posted as soon as I see/get some. I have no idea what the timeline is.

Brat, LOL about the dream! I'd love to come work out with you and Pierre, how fun would that be?!

I'm finally feeling better and was able to workout today.

CFS class: 8am

group warm-up:
push-ups
downward dog
knees to chest
samson stretch

deadlift workout:
everything was in kilo's and dave had to help me convert to lbs so this might be a bit off.

95x5, 95x5, 115x5, 115x5, 135x5, 135x5, 135x5, 145x5, 155x5, 165x5, 165x5

Dave said my deadlift looks really nice and then had me demonstrate infront of the class, so I tried extra hard not to mess up! He gave me this tidbit about scraping of the shins: he said most people who scrape/bruise their shins do so because their shoulders round just slightly on their pull. Apperently I don't do this so he coudln't figure out why i bruise myself so badly.

workout:
AMRAP in 20 min of KB SAS 5 per side then switch

I opted to get more instruction from Dave instead of doing the timed workout. Probably did 80-100, didn't keep count. This is only my second time doing KB snatches and I still smack my forearms pretty badly. One of the other trainers was here and helped me out too which was nice. I had a lot more trouble on my stronger arm then on the weaker and this trainer noticed that on my stronger arm the weight came up easier, so I was having trouble controlling the KB which is why it smacked me so hard. On my weaker side I didn't generate as much power and was able to have more control. It was a very interesting and helpful observation.

off to my regular gym for the WOD:

thruster WU: 45x10
handstand holds: x3

"Fran"

Three rounds, 21-15- and 9 reps, for time of:
95 pound Thruster (55#)
Pull-ups

time: 4:14 (PR)

last time: 5:38. happy to shave off over 1 min. Did same weights last time, next time will go up to 65#. I always forget how hard Fran hits me, I was practically hyperventilating. 21 reps of thrusters and pull-ups unbroken and done around 1:20 reps 15-9 of thrusters also unbroken, but pull-ups were broken badly, even on the 9 rep round. I wish I had a HR monitor on for this because I think this WOD gets my HR up the higest.

gonne be lazy today then go see b/f's band play tonight. will post up food tomorrow.

Hi gymgirl,

I'm glad you are back on the fitness saddle and I hope your cold is getting better. Stress causes colds as it weakens you immune system and makes you more vulnerable to the germs and bugs that are out there. And you've undoubtedly had alot of stress with all these exciting opportunties you've had to respond to on short notice. But you are young and fit and you'll rebound amazingly fast. That is what I call the "fitness dividend".

Now I have this vision of driving down the highway one day and glancing off to the left at a billboard and shouting out loud "by golly, there's gymgirl's legs!".

How will I know? I will know!

Enjoy your weekend!

pierini, I think you are right regarding the stress and sickness. I felt great Saturday, took a long nap in the afternoon, went to b/f's bands show that night and woke up sunday with my head all stuffed up. bf woke up sick too. we lounged around and even today my sinuses hurt...atleast my sore throat is gone!

JDR, thanks I am very happy with Fran. Next time 65# and shooting for sub 6 min with that weight.

Monday, June 25, 2007

cardio:
3 mile interval run
400m warm-up, 6.5
400m 7.8, 400m 6.5
400m 7.9, 400m 6.5
400m 8.0, 400m 6.5
400m 8.1, 400m 6.5
400m 8.2, 400m 6.5
400m cooldown 6.5

stretching:
lots of SMR on IT band and vastus medialis, which is sore from Fran.

workout:

"J.T."

21-15-9 reps of:
Handstand push-ups
Ring dips (25# assistance)
Push-ups

time: 10:14

comments: last time 10/13/06 22:43 but did reg bar dips x3. happy with the improvement. I think JDR said that JT is always very humbling and he is 100% correct. It looks much easier on paper, my the first set of push-ups I was already failing on rep 6. shoulders were heavy and didn't want to function. Almost skipped JT as I was beat after my run and head was very congested, but after the workout and a hot shower I feel much better.

food:

carbs: 210g 36%
protien: 199g 41%
fat: 48g 22%

total cals: 1997

I planned on having more fat but my avacado was bad and i was too lazy to go to the store.

thanks minime. My chest is surprisingly sore from J.T.

Tuesday, June 26, 2007

cardio/WOD:

5k run: 24:32 (PR)

stretching:
5 min of SMR and static stretching, IT band still very tight and painful

workout:

Complete as many rounds as you can in twenty minutes of:

5 Box Jumps (bench jumps)
10 L-Pullups
15 Knees-to-Elbows

6 rounds + 5 BJ's

comments:
very pleased with the PR on the 5k. Minime I have no idea how you run so fast! You are an animal. old treadmiill PR was 25:26. This time I did the first 800m at 6.7 second 800m at 8.0 then started 400m intervals of 8.0 and 7.0. Last time I did 400m recovery at 6.5, so I think that is where I made up my time. WOD was burtal, grip was failing after first round, L-pull-ups got real hard, real quick. box jumps (bench jumps) were a blessing and I even jumped as high as I could as though the box was much higher, just to get the full effect. not looking forward to tomorrow's WOD.

BJs hehe.. must get mind out of gutter...

great job on the WOD gymgirl, i wonder why they have the easiest thing as the 5 rep round? is it because you are supposed to jump to a 42inch box or whatever that guy in the clip was using?!!

Its tough to run on a treadmill because you have the clock there and it is ticking and it seems to take forever. When running in a race, with other people running next to you, it is easier to run faster if you know what I mean : it is extra motivation. Its tougher in one way though as with the treadmill you can manage your pace easily, but when you are outside it is harder.

Hi gymgirl,

Congrats on the 5k PR. Maybe a 5k summertime fun run soon? You'd be a hit on the course with all kind of guys setting PRs trying to maintain that scenic view behind you.

Minime, I had to go back to gymgirl's post to get the drift of your BJ comment. An idle mind is a wandering mind and I'm guessing you are having plenty of idle time lately. Nice to know my mind is the only one in the gutter.
