225 pound Deadlift (135#)
Handstand push-ups

time: 4:58 (about :40 sec slower the PR)

no rest straight into todays WOD

Hang squat clean 1-1-1-1-1-1-1 reps

55-65-75-85-85-85-90

comments:
left work 30 min early so I could get a run in. Had to really rush Diane and the HSC WOD. No rest, and treated the first 3 reps as warm-up, didnt rest until 85# weight. Usually 1 rep WOD's can take me about 30 min today I finished in less then 10. Felt like I could have done more weight, but played it safe with my shoulder. I seem to be able to squat clean more when taking the bar from the floor. Anyway good workout. spent 1 hour shadowing a trainer afterwards. tomorrow I have a shoot at my gym which should be fun.

nice work gymgirl! I saw your post on the crossfit board! two WODs and a run, you must have been tired! Hang cleans are harder for me too, as soon as the bar is hanging in my hands a second I start to realise how heavy it is and begin losing my nerve!

good luck on your shoot tomorrow!

Hi gymgirl,

I am noticing a trend with your Sunday night gloom and Monday morning dread of returning to work. I remember those feelings well until I went self-employed and they seemed to disappear. That's not to say I don't occasionally get them, but not with the frequency that I used to many moons ago. Those were the manic-depressive days. I'd be manic that it was Friday and the weekend had arrived, only to be depressed on Sunday night. I got a big kick out of your post last week when you said you didn't talk until noon on Monday.

Have a great photo-shoot. Remember to say "cheese" while you squeeze your muscles.

yep, i usually post my workout there first because i don't have to type out so much detail. honesetly i am getting a little bit sick of the CF blog and all the same questions over and over and over, it seems to go through phases like that and right now it's in one of the worst! I end up skimming and just looking for posts of the people i know.

pierini, glad to know i am not alone in the dread. i hear ya on the manic friday nights. I hope things get better when I finally leave my job. I think working less hours and not sitting doing the same thing day in and day out will help. it gets really bad sometimes.

I'll try to say cheese as I squeeze the muscles..haha easier said then done. i want to drink water i am so thirsty but trying not to so i look leaner...

hopefully will get in todays wod if the shoot dosen't run too long.

good luck with your shoot gymgirl!!

I hear ya on the crossfit blog, it is so annoying when people ask 'whats a good sub for this' etc. when there is a perfectly good FAQ section! Plus, when people say 'what does 1-1-1 etc. mean' like hello its pretty straightforward! Maybe I am being unfair but it does annoy me.

no not unfair, those questions get old. They can even look at the 'compare to' post right above and see the same questions were asked there. I get it when people are confused and ask "should i do one weight for all reps" or "should i pyrimid it?" Those are legitimate, but what does 1-1-1-1 mean? lol seriously.

(for mac users, today is the day! if you have ical closed it defaluts to 7/17! wow i am a mac nerd)

Weighted pull-ups 1-1-1-1-1-1-1 reps

BW x10 WU

20-25-30-35-40-35-35

comments:

no PR today. last PR was 45, probably could have done that again if I had rested apporprately and had eaten (i was rushing to get out before traffic). felt good to get some weighted pull-ups. even had two guys say 'holy crap' when i was doing 35#.

the photoshoot went well. me and 2 other girls and 2 guys. It was really fun to shoot in my gym, i felt really comfortable there. The weird part is the two other girls were not athletic. the guys were, but the girls looked like they had never been in a gym before (just skinny no tone). we started off in teh cycling room getting group shots and single shots. lots of walking and pretending we are talking to eachother. got some treadmill shots and had to fake running. i got to pretend to train a model on bicep curls (5lb dumbell) so glad i was trainer and not model, i would have asked for 20# atleast...haha. we did some boxing and yoga shots too. i actually got abit of a workout!

now i have to vent. i show up and they said to bring clothes but they would have some. i got to wear mostly my own stuff until the yoga shoot(the outfit they had me wear was UGLY. navy blue cotton take and pants...plain and not cute) the other girls also had to wear some of my stuff. so anyway i get to hair and make-up, and i just paid what $300 on saturday to get my hair straightened, and what does this lady do? she takes a brush to my hair! you do not brush non-white hair! it gets frizzy then she busts out the freckin AQUA NET! AQUA NET people, who the frick uses that anymore? she coats it all over my NEW SOFT HAIR. this is the only week i have nice normal white people hair. it's not coarse, its soft and shiny and moves like a white girl. augh. so pissed. I told her i cannot wash my hair for 5 more days and she keepjs with the damn AQUA NET. I'm sorry but Aqua net is ghetto. now my hair feels like a horses tail. all corse and dry, i've put the oil in it to soften it up, to no avail. i almost cried when i got home. now i have to have ugly hair until saturday instead of soft pretty hair. oh i also hated my make-up.i could have done a better job.she darkened my eyebrows so much and didn't give me any arch, just like straigh across and dark, i am very picky about my eyebrows and i like the light brow and high arch. she was powder crazy too...sorry im just annoyed i wish i could do my own hair and make-up it would have looked a lot better.ok done with the rant.

Well I guess modeling has some down sides. I think you should have told the
hair lady,"You best not touch the hair!!".

Nice work on the weighted pullups!

Acqua Net, man that is old school. The equivalent of Brylcream for men. Really old school.

Bummer about those other models having to wear your clothes. You better check for racer stripes. Or better yet, put them in the washer so you can start fresh.

Sorry about the hair - hope the shots make-up for it! Maybe if you rinse your hair it will feel better.

I get perms in my hair. I can't wash it for 3 days and that about kills me. If I had to go a week it would be a slicked down mess.

I'm guilty for being white!
That is my my hair, board-straight. I used to sleep in curlers so that I would have curls and volume only to get up after a lousy night's sleep to unroll the damn things and find a 1/4 curl dangling in the middle of my back. Perms were only ever good for 10 days and that was after suffering corkscrew curls for 2 weeks then 4 more weeks of limp-assed waves afterwards.

Love what you've got naturally because I can guarantee that someone else is envious of you.

thanks everyone. I feel much better today, just needed to vent!

JDR i think you are right! i should have pulled out the 'tude, finger waving, neck swerving and all. 'oh no girl, you best not be touchin' the hair' haha. probably would not get hired again though!

pierini, eeeewww racing stripes! yuck! luckily they only wore tops of mine, my only concern is they might be stretched out. both of the other girls had large breast-e-ses.

brat you are right, the grass is always greener....wow you and Lady C got perms huh? I remember when perms were all the rage. girls would be running ot the salon, and I'd be asking how do I get my hair straight! They wanted my ringlets, I wanted their pin straight locks.

Lady C, 3 days?! that's it? forsome reason I thought you had to go a week without washing so you don't deactivate the ammonium thioglycolate. Anyway, this probably sounds gross but I only wash my hair 1 time per week, 2 times if I have an important event to go to and I need my hair to look clean. It would be a lot better if I didn't sweat so much. I've become good friends with the baby powder, sucks up the oil and makes your hair smell good!

anyway, last night after i typed out my post i got up and couldn't walk on my right foot. I thought it might have fallen asleep or something then I realised I was kicking the bag shoeless and pretty darn hard during the shoot. It was weird that it only started hurting hours later. I could hardly put weight on it and it hurt so bad i thought i had broken something. I iced which made it hurt more, and finally fell asleep. It isi a lot better this morning, I iced again and it is a bit sore. I have no idea what I have done, maybe severe bruise? or maybe I did something to a tendon? its the top part of my foot and i feel pain when i point my toes. last night i could not point/flex or make circles with my foot. today i can do most of that, so it's getting better. I won't be doing any running today, and i've got a slight limp. I really hope it's nothing that will keep me out of the gym for more then a couple of days.
