That sounds so exciting gymgirl! You should totally get into oly lifting, get yourself a coach! Imagine, gymgirl at the olympics! You can clean and jerk your bodyweight which is a pretty amazing feat, I bet the coaches would be thrilled to work with you!

I think that could be a niche market. Learn how to do the lifts then train people how to do them. You don't have to compete to be a great trainer!

thanks guys! haha if i had the time i might actually consider getting a coach, but first i have a few things (like my career or lack there of) to straighten out! CFS is going to start doing oly lifting class on Saturday mornings after CF class, and the trainer teaching that said I should come, so atleast I can get some more work and help without having to commit to anything financially.

you know Lady C that idea crossed my mind...I definitely want to practice what I learned and later attend one of the actual 2 day certification seminars.

oh also my nose is bruised. i slammed myself in the face on a push jerk...only with a PVC but damn i hurt today.

Sounds like an awesome training session! Congrats on the recognition. :

Oh and yeah - I did an hour and a half PT session on snatch and another on dead lift using PVC. It sucked for a week after!

ok good, because I was feeling a bit wussy today, i am sooooooo sore. I feel like I was actually lifting weights!

I set a new PR last night, fell asleep by 7:30pm! THAT is how worn out I was!

Monday, July 23, 2007

cardio:
2 mile run on TM, 6.7

stretching and warm-up:

foam rolled legs they are soooo freckin sore
burgener WUx3
DB swings 20#, 10

workout:

"Helen"

Three rounds for time:
Run 400 meters
1 1/2 pood Kettlebell X 21 swings (or 55 pound dumbbell swing) (SUB 35#, RX for girls)
12 Pull-ups

time: 9:22

comments:
last time i set a PR of 8:47, but used 25# DB, this time 35#. Also during round 2 my main pull-up station and my back up station were both being used. I ran around cursing and remembered another station i could do pull-ups at. had to run across the gymfor that. lost some time there. also lost itme with start up of TM each round. Still worn out though.

Heading out to portland until Thursday night. boyfriends brothers girlfriend had the baby on the 18th. boyfriends parents are flying in from hawaii tonight. our hotel has a gym but who knows what is in there. i will work out if i can, but unfortunately i am on other peoples time, and other peoples diet. sigh. i guess im due for some timeoff anyhow.atleast that is what i tell myself to releave the guilt!

great job on Helen gymgirl! did you know, you beat nicole by over a minute! woohoo!

the heavier dumbell sucks for swings doesn't it?! I only went up to 30 and it felt so much heavier than 25!

I had a couple days like that this weekend, it sucks because you don't want to put people out by being fussy about food etc.! Bring some cans of tuna lol

huh? where did you see nicole's time? are you thinking of a past video when the girls did the WOD? i think she still scored in the 9 min range. maybe you saw jeremy and nicole who post on the boards? i don't think that's nicole carroll though and the only time i have really seen her post is to comment on a video or something...

oh and yea the heavier db sucks! i've done helen with 36#KB and that was much easier then using the DB! but you are right either way going up 5# makes a huge difference!

i wish i had seen your post before i left, i totaly should have brought tuna! yeah it kinda sucks when you are with people and feel like an inconvienence! augh. i already know i won't get to work out tomorrow. we are picking up bf's mom from the airport at 8:30 am and i know she will want to go see the grandbaby straight away. we just got back from meeting him...what a cutie. poor mom was in labor for 26 hours and tried to do it naturally until after 18 hours they said she should get the drugs. 5 hours of straight pushing too. i don't know how women do it, childbirth is one 'miracle' i don't want to experience. yuck-o and ouch-ie. mucho kudos to those women who can do it, and those who want to do it!

Hi gymgirl,

You sure are a home-body aren't you?

I can relate to that jail cell size hotel gym. They usually stink from all that butt-odor of those who have been there before. I need alot of ventilation and prefer a fan pointing at my nose.

yep pretty much. what i don't like about traveling with others (bf excluded) is i don't like being on others schedules. yesterday we ended up sitting for 12 hours at bf's brother and gf's house. i was so bored, and not to mention starving! when bf and i are together we are on the same schedule, we want to do the same things. sorry i'm venting, i just don't like sitting around at other peoples places. I ended up having to eat not so good food a lot of the time too. augh. I'm so glad ot be home.

lol butt-odor.

rest day

will do some abs tonight. butt is sore from sitting in a car for 4 hours!

no gym tomorrow too since i will be at an all training on this new metabolic testing thing we are getting at the gym.

oh here are some pics from the Burgener clinic, you can click on them to enlarge: http://www.crossfitseattle.com/news/index.html

I am supposed to start running next week with a friend of mine. We are shooting for 2x per week, I just maped out a few routes by the waterfront on map my run. I hope I can keep up. He was a collegite rower and runner. He ran 1500 (why is it not 1600?) in 4:14, yeah this should be fun for me. lol

Really great work on Helen, I'm still waiting for my times to become decent. I know the feeling about storming around looking for space. The way I move around my gym scares people a bit. It's like I'm going to defuse a bomb or something. 'quick get out of the way, i've got pullups to do!'

Hi gymgirl,

I checked out the photo and there sure is alot of energy and smiles in it. The smiles, I'm sure, is because a hard workout was over.

And I noticed a name I know in the newsletter. A man named Tim Tolliver who is new at CrossFit Seattle. He is a very good karate man who used to train in Alaska and is part of the same association that I am, the International Karate Association of Takayuki Kubota. Tim trained with Sensei Charles Scott in Alaska. He may not associate my name but next time you see him tell him pierini from Sacramento IKA (Sensei Kenny Kuch) sends his regards.

1,500m is a college distance, not sure why other than 1,500 is an Olympic event. In high school it is the 1,600m.

Enjoy your training and your weekend!
