Outstanding job on that 110x3 C&J - everything had to be perfect to get that -it would have been a great video. I am enjoying watching my Oly lift videos and hitting the pause button at various points to be reminded of all my imperfections that are not noticable at normal speed.
Re: Santa Cruz - I'll give you some suggestions after I think about it, but I have several questions. Are you flying or driving to get there and if flying are you going to San Francisco or San Jose? Will you be renting a car?
That is a reallly nice hostel but if it isn't for you then I understand. I'd stay there in a heartbeat and nowhere else - it is that nice, although it doesn't have all those ammenities you listed. I knew you were "high maintenance" when you revealed that you only buy $100+ jeans. Now it is official!!
Happy Thanksgiving and since you are fit and young, you can eat your age and your appetite.
p.s. you can reply via PM to my questions and I'll give you my best recommendations. I like Santa Cruz and Capitola and several years ago wanted to buy a vacation home there until I wised up. You will really like the cup of coffee of the coffee shop I will refer. Bang down a cup of that before a CrossFit WOD and be prepared for new PRs.

And serious Kudos to backing up for a second workout, rekon ya earned your mash after that .

"Helen"
Three rounds for time:
Run 400 meters
1 1/2 pood Kettlebell X 21 swings (or 55 pound dumbbell swing) (sub 35#db girl rx'd weight)
12 Pull-ups
time: 9:00 (PR)
DAMN i was totally shooting for a sub 9 min. I can't believe I was just 1 second away! Those workouts are frusterating when you are anywhere in the first :10 of a minute. I did my first run at 10.0 on TM and second and third run at 9.7. I almost puked on 2nd and 3rd runs. DB swings were actually easy and I am able to pull the weight down instead of waiting for it ot drop which is saving me seconds.
I think I could get a sub 9 if I didn't have to wait for the damn treadmill to speed up every round.
Also made my running partner eric do this WOD with me. He has only done 4 different WOD's, first was JT this summer then 1/2 cindy after our run one day, then he tired JT again a few weeks ago and i also had him do a thruster, pull-up WOD. Today he got to meet helen...hehe
34/m/150
13:10 used 35# db for swings, and strict pull-ups.
he actually laid down on the floor after this wod...i loved it. he's seen me like that hundreds of times at the gym and now he knows why. we went out to eat and have a beer afterwards, figured it was well deserved. I'm so proud of him, what a trooper. I love introducing people to WOD's.
anyway, im taking today off. happy thanksgiving everyone!

Hi gymgirl. Your post put a smile on my face. I could see you lying there in one of your sweat angels screaming that you just missed a sub 9:00.
And your line

Is that the same thing as saying, I love to see people dying and in pain doing these WODs?
Have a happy thanksgiving and thanks for all the motivation and inspiration.

ha, that is exactly what i did! oh and yes that is the same thing as saying i love seeing people dying and in pain during the WOD's! :-)
I've been slacking. this weekend has been very difficult. this was my first thanksgiving in 4 years without b/f, and next week is my 29th b-day then the holidays which are my favorite time of the year. i've been so sad and drinking way too much to escape from everything. ive worked out once since wednesday. i can't seem to eat much or sleep well. i either sleep 10+ hours or 4-5 hrs. i think im going through my saturn's return right now and it effin sucks. i'm either really happy or a complete wreck breaking down in tears, i wish it would just go away.

I'm sorry to hear you are having a hard time nadia, it sucks that your split from BF coincided with the holidays. It is a tough time to be alone.
I hope you feel better soon. Don't beat yourself up about skipping the gym, you work so hard and if you need time away from it then take the time.
And hey, feel free to come to boston if you need to get away I'd be happy to join you in your beer-guzzling

Thanks Laura, it is definitely a tough time to be alone. a lot of my friends are married or other couples that bf and i hung out with. my gym friends and trainers have been great. 2 trainers are going through divorce and another one a break-up similar to mine so we have all been there for eachother. i can't belive how much trainers party. haha, i feel lucky to have understanding friends around me, it just gets hard on the weekends at night when i have to go to bed bymyself. never realized how much i love having someone to fall asleep/wake up to. anyway today was a better day.

"Nancy"
Five rounds for time of:
400 meter run
95 pound Overhead squat, 15 reps (70# OHS, 65# rx'd for girls)
time: 20:32
lost about :30 per round waiting for the stupid treadmill to start up. OHS were a struggle, then I heard nicoles voice in the back of my head. 'active shoulders, keep the weight directly overhead' that seemed to help. my abs were cramped up after the last set of OHS, i was so relieved it was over i almost cried, seriously.
then:
Weighted pull-ups 1-1-1-1-1-1-1 reps
25-30-35-40-45- 50 (PR)-40
those were really tough after all the OHS's. I almost had an eva moment when doing 45# the dumbell was falling from my thighs and almost pulled my pants down with them! that would have been embarassing as i go commando with my gym pants...
pre: mod CFWU x2 + burgener WUx2
post: stretching and dance class shoulders were fried it was really hard to hold dance position for 1 hour!

"CrossFit Total"
Back squat, 1 rep
Shoulder Press, 1 rep
Deadlift, 1 rep
BS: 155 (-10 from PR)
SP: 90 (ties PR)
DL: 240 (+5 PR)
Total: 485 (PR)
my legs and shoulders were so sore from doing Nancy yesterday. It definitely affected my squats, i struggled with 135 which i can normally do 5x5 no problem. kinda bummed but the DL PR made up for it.
pre: NFWUx2 + Burgie WUx2
post: nothing!
today is 5k but i'm not sure if i will do it or not. I am supposed to get some erg training with my running partner who is a former collegite rower. We shall see...

Very good DL gymgirl, you are stronger than ever.
Hoisting that kind of weight means you should have no trouble "picking up" a new BF.
Have a great day!

nice work on the total gymgirl! very impressive numbers I can't believe you can do 5x5 with 135 on squats, a single with 135 feels hard to me!
90lbs on the SP is great, did you try 95? you are not far off a bw SP.. that is awesome.

Wow. 240#! That is nice.
I've had to cut right back on workouts until I find out why my leg/hip area is in so much pain. It seems like a hip flexor issue and you can't get much done in CF without them working hard.
Do you still foam roll regularly?
