nice work gymgirl! i know you are disappointed with your DL but i would kill for 235! Also good job on getting to 155 for 3 reps on the squat!

and of course ten rounds of that WOD is awesome, l-pullups are so hard! I cannot even do one.

took another rest day. rode the ferry across the water to have brunch on bainbridge island. had the best carmel pecan french toast ever, with lots of coffee. spent the rest of the day in bed then thai food for dinner before the sonics game, 2 lite beers there too. god it felt great to get a little break from the zone.

congrats on the snatch PR gymgirl!

sounds like you are having a suck-fest with the zone, did you consider going higher on fat like nicole suggested? That way you can get your calories up without going out of the zone.

That happened to me too, when I started it i felt great then slowly it began to suck the life out of me lol, I just think it was a matter of too low calories. Also I began to gain weight despite only eating 1600 calories per day! I eventually said screw this, if I'm going to gain weight I'm doing it with a lot of food!

sounds like you had a good weekend! caramel pecan french toast, now that is something I could get my teeth into... mmmm

Here's my belated congrats on your snatch PR and the other stuff you did. You still are in the pedal to the metal zone.

I'd sure like to see a video of your snatch workout (sounds terrible I know) so I can learn from a pro how to do it right. The last one you did was quite a while ago. When you have time.

I posted the bodyweight-only training article I wrote on another fitness website and a comment came up about the depth of your Atlas pushups and whether it was shoulder-safe. I responded that the person doing those is gymgirl from DiscussFitness, a superfit athlete and a personal trainer who knows what she is doing. No further comments came up.

mm- not really a suck fest with the zone. the first two week are usually tough, but this time is worse then last time because i went bat **** crazy in december, so as dave (my cf seattle coach) says january is going to be really tough and i will feel like crap all around.

the zone really worked for me last time, i just should't have taken a month off in december, as fun as it was. i am on higher 2x fat and that seems to help with the hunger. like i said it's just the first two weeks that are brutal, i'll stick with nicole's perscription and if i don't feel better in another 4 weeks ill just add 1 more block.

pieirni, ill try to video my snatch (hehe) next time. my form is not perfect by anymeans, probably pull too early but it is better then the old videos from awhile back. i think everything just clicked last week so the weight felt super light. thanks for having my back re: the atlast push-ups. i cannot tell you how many comments, messages i got via youtube on those videos. so funny.

hi, JDR, yes sunday was a great day!

Monday, January 28, 2008

took a rest day as i was feeling a bit under the weather again. apperently what we thought was strep is just a mean virus, and the symptoms re-appeared. took a nap and got to bed early, feel better today. hoping to do the CFT and cindy this evening.

"CrossFit Total"
Back squat, 1 rep 185 (PR)
Shoulder Press, 1 rep 95 (PR)
Deadlift, 1 rep 240 (-10)

Total: 520 ties PR

then met up with Eric (and we got a newbie! one of eric's rowing friends from college) for cindy.

"Cindy"

Complete as many rounds in 20 minutes as you can of:

5 Pull-ups
10 Push-ups
15 Squats

Nadia: 24 rounds

eric: 22 + 5 pull-ups 10 push-ups

geoff: 10 rounds
(great job for his first WOD, also did push-ups on DB since he hurt his wrist)

Had to share the pull-up station with eric (it's the weird grip one under the cable machine, because he wanted to do the workout with me, rather then me at the other end of the gym where the semi-straight pull-up bar is. Geoff had his own station next to us, but I had to wait a few times for eric to finish pull-ups before i could start my set. I actually needed the rest so it was good. my legs are super sore today. i'm frightened by how quickly eric is catching up to me. he's been keeping up lately when he used to gas on metcons. i'm not liking this at all!

making up grace tonight.

24 round Cindy - very nice my friend. very nice indeed.

Full props to your friend Eric too - I've been watching his progression through your journal and it's putting a lot of us to shame ... awesome stuff .

Keep it up (as if there's any way you would stop eh! )

... oh and I guess 2 PR's on your CFT was an OK effort too

great job gymgirl, on the total and on that awesome cindy performance! You are so far ahead of me I cannot even eat your dust lol!

that is funny : i feel like that sometimes with this girl I work out with now! she has so much natural strength she is seriously almost as strong as me in many things, despite having not been much of a gym-goer before! I have to keep on my toes or I will be eating HER dust in a few months!

Hope your date with Grace went well!

yeah he is insane, it is not fair 6 weeks or so into crossfit and he's blasting through the metcons. i need to up his weight now which will slow him down a bit hehe. and thanks for the nice comments.

minime, i hear ya sucks when newbies catch up with so quickly! then i try to remind myself they will hit a slump soon. when you start you have nowhere to go but up, then i'm guessing they might plateu a bit.

i am so sore from cindy, funniest part is eric isn't one bit sore! bastard.

"Grace"

135 pound Clean and Jerk, 30 reps (95# girl weight)

Use 95 pounds, 65 pounds or broomstick as needed and post time and load to comments.

time: 9:25

after doing the math, i probably should have done 85# C&J since the rx'd weight of 135 is for a 175# male. and 95# is only 15# shy of my BW. great workout, didn't stop sweating for a good 20 min post workout.

btw got my first "celeb" client! he's not huge but in a pretty famous band, one that i have been a fan of for years.
