been soooooo hungry all day long.
on friday we went to a birthday party that was a big seated dinner affair at this nice resturant. it was fun we had a private room, but i have to vent for a minute. i did well with the food calorie wise, but drank a bit too much. ordered a glass of wine then the boyfriend wanted to order a bottle of this italian wine we love. so we got that, but i forgot that the waiter keeps refiling your glass even if you are not close to done. that is not good for me because i know 2 glasses of italian wine and i am good to go, i can only handle one glass of any other wine (weird i know)...i have no idea how much i drank and i never really felt drunk. then finaly 3 hours later we are allowed to order dinner, so i order the halibut that comes in a mushroom sauce. it sounded so good but the bummer is it didn't taste great at all! it's frusterating when you pay $40 for a piece of fish that you know you could prepare more to your liking at home, (season the fish people season the fish!) and it didnt even come with veggies or potatoes on the side! i can definitely say that is the last time i go to that resturant!

Wow....700 crunches. I can barely fathom that. How long did that take you?

Hi gymgirl,
I find that when I put my effort to it, I can cook a dish as good as any fancy restaurant can. They may do a better job of making it look pretty on the plate.
Thanks to my frugal wife and the point of life where we are at, we define a good meal as one that tastes good and costs no more than $20 for both of us. We never order alcohol or other beverages and that makes a big difference in the tab. Yawn, yawn, yawn.

hey midgetcop! it ususaly takes 7-10min. i use an ab roller...those old school things, but it seem to be one of the only things my abs respond to. i know 700 is excessive, but...i can't help myself!
hey, pierini! i feel the same way, especially when i use ingredients that resurants use that i refrain from at home (i.e, cream, butter, salt, full fat milks and cheeses etc.) my presentation needs some work too, after all you do eat with your eyes first! i don't have time to garnish unless i am serving food to others.
our outings to nicer resturants are quite few and far between...maybe 3 times per year. the nice thing is my boyfriend gets a lot of gift certificates from work for $100-$200 at the nicest resturants, so most of the time the dinners are free with the exception of friday. the free ones always seem to taste better! i've only eaten at 2 maybe 3 nicer resturants where i thought the price was actually worth it.
we usualy enjoy eating at our favorite burrito or sandwhich joint that never costs more then $20!
p.s. pierini i LOVE that you enjoy cooking! it is my second favorite hobby aside from working out.
well i am accompanying the boyfriend on his business trip to albuquerque tomorrow for a few days. i will be relaxing and wandering the city as he works...hehe. the hotel has a gym, but they don't offer much info on it, so hopefully there will be one piece of cardio equipment. i think i am going to stop by the sporting goods store and pick up a jump rope. atleast i can pack that in my bag and do some double unders and maybe get a few xfit style workouts in depending on their equpiment.
i'm also measured out 5 portions of whey, almonds and some zone bars so i can have some healthy snacks at hand. i'd say just screw it i am on vacation but december is the busiest month workwise and i know my workouts are going to be few and far between. then the first week in january i am going to hawaii for a week and want to look good in that bikini!

Have a fun trip in Albuquerque, gymgirl!
Where in Hawaii are you going? I am going in 14 days to Kauai. I heard it is very lush and greenery.

I love the fact that everything and everyone is really laide back and it is not busy like Ohau. There are great things to see and lots of good food to eat! You are going to have a blast. Hey Gymgirl,
While in ABQ go visit Clarence Bass and see if you can get some training tips from him.
Have a good trip to my new home!

Hi gymgirl,
Brat's suggestion is excellent. My take on Mr. Bass is that he would be very accessible by telephone and possibly in person.
Check out his site: www.cbass.com

yay brat your new home...i'm also going to try to hit up your other suggestions!

wanted to try to hit everything today as i am not sure what the gym will be like at the hotel.
warm-up:
1 min of jumping jacks
shoulder swings
egyption thing
more of pierini's shoulder warm-up
bw pull-ups: 1x8
weighted pull-up: 12.5lbs 1x4, 15lbs 1x3
45lbs clean and jerk: 1x5
50lbs clean and jerk: 1x3
workout:
for time:
clean and jerks: 50lbs
weighted pull-ups: 15lbs
10 clean and jerks
1 weighed pull-up
9 clean and jerks
2 weighed pull-up
8 clean and jerks
3 weighed pull-up
7 clean and jerks
4 weighed pull-up
6 clean and jerks
5 weighed pull-up
5 clean and jerks
6 weighed pull-up
4 clean and jerks
7 weighed pull-up
3 clean and jerks
8 weighed pull-up*
2 clean and jerks
9 weighed pull-up
1 clean and jerks
10 weighed pull-up
time: 28:55
* switched to 12.5lbs db for weighted pull-ups. this workout took a lot longer and a lot more out of me then i had anticipated. i think the 50lbs was a perfect weight for the c&j. the c&j's were extreamly hard for me today, and around 7 i felt like it was never going to end. weighted pull-ups were tough too only got to 5 reps unbroken. i was so tired afterwards i could hardly hold my arms up so i just couldn't do that one set of BWpull-ups.
JDR, i just looked back at your journal to see what you thought of this workout it was the 5/13 WOD. you seemed to think it was quite hard too. i don't know how you did the c&j's with 135lbs and weighted pull-ups with 35lbs. this one was not fun at all, i just wanted to be done...it looked a lot more fun on paper!
cardio:
2 mile run on treadmill at 1% incline
finished up with some foam rolling and stretching.
food:
carbs: 215g 40%
protein: 154g 34%
fat: 53g 26%
total cals: 1892

You could call him up and say that you have heard of him from some of the oldtimers on your favourite fitness message board and that you would like to order one of his books and also find out the best place for green chile.
Then go see a Lobo game (mens or womens basketball). The Pit is an awesome sports venue. One of the top 10 in the country.

thanks jdr and mimime! they were definitely hellish. my back and legs are sore today.
i will probably rest quite a bit in hawaii...not sure though. i've possibly got somethings coming up that i will need to look 'in shape' for, so i can't go overboard with food, drink and not working out. i will definitely not be counting cals though. last time we were there the b/f and i went jogging on the beach one day, but that was it. it felt quite nice to relax and i was ready to get back to it upon my return!
isnt pierni's shoulder warm-up great!? i love the egyption thing!
brat, thanks for the suggestion, i'll see about contacting him!
2 more hours of work then i'm off!
