gymgirl.... you were clear on the post.... I am just lame. JDR3 scolded me because you clearly wrote (sub....). I guess I just have a lot of confidence in you and your work-outs that I was certain you "can" do rope climbs... ;0)

well in all fairness, i haven't actually attempted rope climbs. i used to be able to do them in high school P.E. class, but haven't tried one since!

I totaly skipped all those meals this weekend. i had decided only to attend the brunch, but at the wedding the brides brother is like you are definitely coming to the dinner, you can't say no. so then i decided to skip the brunch and attend the dinner. but later i felt like being lazy so i skipped out on the dinner too. the frecking dinner didn't start until 8pm and got over at 12am! i'm a homebody and if i don't get atleast one weekend night to sit at home and be lazy then i am even crankier on monday morning when i have to go back to work. i swear if i sit at home relaxing all weekend i feel like the weekend it twice as long, as opposed to when i go out and am busy the whole time.

my poor parents had to explain to everyone why i wasn't there. people don't seem to understand that grocery shopping, preparing food for the entire week, doing laundry, cleaning house etc., take time. i'm a planner so it's not like i can just wake up go to work and just eat whatever all day long!

cardio:
3 mile run, started at 6.3 for 5 min then increased to 6.5 finished the last mile at 6.7-7.0

stretching
foam rolled IT band and quads, did some PT exercises for knee

warm up:
shoulder warm-up

push-press: 45lbs 1x10

workout:

betty

5 rounds for time of:

135lb push press, 12 reps (sub 45lbs)
20 box jumps

time: 8:38

i was huffing at round 3 on this one. i thought the weight on the push press might be too light but by the last set i was having to break the sets. also took about 1 min to take off my shoes and readjust. my shoes must have been too tight and my feet were cramping up on the push presses. i noticed i curl my toes under when i am driving the bar up. lol

my IT band was pretty tight and my joints seemed to hurt a bit today. as crazy as this sounds i think it has to do with the weather.when it gets really cold my IT band seems to tighten up more...werid?

it started snowing again right when i was about to leave the gym. i 10 min later my car had about 1/2 inch. which is quite unusal for the city/downtown area. my normal 15 min drive/6-7 mile trip from the gym to my house took 2 frecking HOURS. everyone was stopped i don't think i hit the gas once...just took my foot of the brake and rolled forward then had to break again. once i got to the road by my apt, it was all ice. cars are stuck everywhere and people ended up parking and leaving their cars. it's supposed to get to 29 degrees tonight which will make for an interesting drive to work at 5:30am tomorrow...damn ice! snow is much easier to drive in!

food:

carbs: 178g 38%
protein: 164g 42%
fat: 34g 20%

total cals: 1627

Guess I shouldn't complain about the little bit of rain we had today.

I'll be thinking about you as a roll over for another hour of sleep at 5:30 a.m. in the morning.

oh my the weather changed around pretty quickly there just a few weeks ago u were talking about sunshine and temps in the 70s right?

We don't get snow here much, so I am looking forward to having a 'white christmas' in Boston. However I suppose for you guys who see the snow all the time the novelty wears off pretty quickly.

'betty' must be a new one right? Looks good - great time on it, under nine minutes, good job :

oh and i know what u mean about the weekends - they go so quickly when you have to do stuff! I like to have nothing planned for my weekends, so i can laze around, go to the gym, go shopping whatever... Im so boring I wish i was as organised as you, getting all my weeks clothes and food ready on sundays... i am always hunting around the night before for work clothes!

Great work, although in my humble and uninformed opinion you scaled that back too far. I notice you tend to always just use the 45 lbs, but I bet you could do 65 and still turn in a time that makes me embarrassed to post my own. Possibly even more - it just would mean that you have to break up your sets a little.

On the other hand, maybe you're making that choice because of your shoulder?

hey tim! i always value and apprciate your input! you are probably right i did scale it back a bit much, and you are also right my stupid shoulder was bothering me. it moved back to the right side yesterday...grrr. the push part didn't hurt it's bringing the weight back down that bothered me a bit. it's nice that you believe i am capable of doing 65lbs but i doubt i can! 50, 55lb maybe...but 65lbs?!?! your times are always great and you lift a lot of weight so i have no idea what you would be embarrassed about! thanks again for the feedback, next time i will try to increase the weight a bit.

well it is still awful weather out here. pierini, i got up at 5am turned on the news and they told everyone to stay home. by 9:30 my boss is calling me saying she is going to pick me up becuse the roads are not bad...umm yea..when she got to where i live she says 'omg it's so bad out here'. uh yea thats why i am not driving, plus every part of the city is different! that sucked i already called and was planning on taking a sick day. now i am stuck at boring work and don't even get to go to the gym. if fed-ex isn't even doing pick-ups and all schools are closed i don't know why i am at work.

yeah minime, the weather changed quite quickly...the day before halloween it got really cold and november started in with the rain...today it is 22 degrees with a high of 30! lol quite different then the 70 degrees last month. p.s. i think you will love having a white christmas...it is so pretty!

Wow, that's some bizarre-a$$ weather you guys are having out there. Strangely enough, it's been unseasonably mild over here in Toronto. Tomorrow it's going to be 14 degrees (about 58F for you 'Mericans). But I'm sure the tables will turn soon enough.......

Oh, and I'm with tim. You never know what weight you're capable of until you try it. You'd probably surprise yourself.

awww. lucky you! you get up at 6:30? I'm usually leaving my apt or getting to work at that time!

i always see you hitting the gym around 2-3pm. i gotta get a gig like yours and work for myself or something. i'm sick of people telling me when to work. lol

Hi gymgirl,

You've just seen how things are for me at this time of the year. Tell me what you think after you read my logs from February through April. I worked 286 hours last March l and hit the gym at 6:00 a.m. 5 days a week. I'm wondering at this time of the year how the heck I was able to do that.

gymgirl - i suspect if you can do 45lb x 12 5times and only break on the last set, u could probly handle 55 and still make a good time. When your shoulder is better of course! I know what u mean, i convert 65lb back to kg and thats a 5kg plate on each side of the olympic bar.. thats what i do my deadlifts with most of the time and its hard!! i cant imagine doing a pushpress with it! someday..

that sucks about having to go to work - how annoying! u should have just pretended u got the flu or something..

today for us too, a high of 13degrees (55f ?) and it feels quite cold well i dont mind the cold, its the rain that bums me out. I hate the rain, it makes everyone grumpy and it makes me want to skip the gym.

hope it clears up soon so u can get to the gym!

yikes that is way too much work. yea i don't envy you during tax season pierini. the fall-christmas is our version of tax season in the event industry, so many large corporate events then holiday parties nov-jan. <rant> i think that's why i am so sick of work right now. also for somereason my skills are organization and time management so i know how to plow through my work. it's frusterating when others are easily distracted or can't stay organized then freak out and make their co-workers life a living hell. i want to say just because you cannot manage your time or your workload dosen't mean i have to be the same way. </end rant>

hey minime, yea you guys are right, next time i'll go for more weight...i am so over this shoulder thing! i too don't mind the cold as much as i hate the rain! you are right rain makes people grumpy and makes us want to skip the gym. this morning was 20 degrees and i had to go get my car (the other day i had to leave it by my apt, couldn't even make it into the garage) so i got to scrape the ice...my commute was 40 min and my car still had not warmed up (my car normally heats in about 2 min!) atleast i had my butt warmer on. those things are the best!

i'm planning on leaving work early today, hit up the gym quickly and beat traffic and the impending storm.
