sorry to hear you got sick - that sucks! I too was good at the start of my holiday: the first week i went to the gym twice, and after that it all fell apart lol. I ate terribly a lot of the time, but not all the time as i would have done in the past
Hope you get better soon so you can get back to pedal to the metal! Having no appetite sucks. Hang in there!

nice to meet you too! Glad to have another crossfitter around here! I stopped by your journal earlier today, and can't wait to contiue following it. I am really missing CF right now. It was bad when I was on vacation, but now that I am home I feel weird spending all day on the couch and not working out...go figure the week or so I take off all the fun looking WOD's come out!
thanks for the get well wishes and welcome back everyone. i actually missed my cyber workout friends, especially when I went for a run on vacation. boy did i get a lot of crap from b/f's brother. i got a few eye rolls when i went out for a run with a jump rope in hand. oh well my motto for 2007 is do what makes you happy and f-the rest of 'em!
so here is my one and only workout! i probably would have done more but after the first 2 days it rained quite hard on and off and didn't want to get caught out in a thunderstorm. then when it cleared up i got sick.
January 3, 2007
cardio:
20 min run, no idea how far though. didn't want to run too far from the house, we were not close enough to the beach for me to run there either. just ran up and down this road until my watch hit 20 min. ended up back at an elementry school near by and found their playground.
workout:
for time:
10 pull-ups
25 double unders
50 squats
10 pull-ups
25 double unders
time: 8:45
didn't really rush this one...i had no rest between the 20 min run, and this workout. then when i was done i ran straight home which was about 400m. total time was about 31min.
anyway, here are some hawaii pics for anyone who is bored...most are from hawaii and a couple from nice france and torino italy.

oh and of corse the handstand pics...i think this year i'm going to see how many interesting places i can take a handstand pic. BTW my form is bad for a former gymnast, but it is incredibly hard to hold a handstand in the sand! i was much better on the balance beam where i could use my fingers better. it's interesting that you can control your entire body upside down by only using your fingers!

hey gymgirl : great photos! I agree with brat about the 'sexy' photo! Also your handstand photos are great! Were you operating on a timer, or did you have somebody take the pictures for you?

Hi gymgirl, thanks for sharing your Hawaii vacation photos. You are so photogenic and full of energy. I'd like to bottle some of that energy and take a shot of it before a 6:00 a.m. CrossFit WOD. I'm sure I'd get more rounds completed.
The handstand photos are so cool. I'll never get tired of looking at handstand photos so keep them coming.

thanks everyone! that sepia photo of bf and I is one of my favorites of us, eventhough I have no idea what I am doing with my mouth! a friend of ours called our names and he snapped the pic. lol well i'm glad you guys aren't sick of the handstand photos, those have become my favorite too. minime, this time i had bf with me so he took the pictures. he gets a little annoyed as i make him take a few because i end up doing walking handstands and can't stay in one place long enough for him to snap the pic! there is one handstand pic with rocks behind me....i was wanting to the the handstand on the rocks but bf was not having it. he was afraid i would fall and cut myself...there were flat portions and i probably would have been more stable there instead of on the wet sand, and i'm sure the picture would have been so much cooler! oh well!
lol pierini, so funny that you think i have energy. i guess it depends on the situation...i'm ususaly pretty laid back, relaxed person but every now and then i get bursts of energy...especially in the gym! i'll bottle some up and send it your way pronto!

felt like crap. throat was finaly feeling a bit better, but had a horrible headache. think the antibiotics were kicking in though. spent the whole day on the couch and managed to make a pot of soup and do one load of laundry.
stretching:
10 min of stretching in front of my heater...lol (no fireplace like pierini)
worked on my splits, probably about 5 inches to go.
food:
appitite slowly returning now that my tonsil swelling is going down
carbs: 128g 38%
protein: 105g 36%
fat: 34g 26%
total cals: 1174

slowly feeling better. test results are not in yet so i am going to stay away from the workouts until tuesday, or until i am 100% sure i do not have mono.
managed to finaly unpack and do two loads of laundry! spent the rest of the day on the couch again. really missing the gym.
stretching:
15 min of stretching. focused on the hamstrings and hip flexors. worked on splits some more...
i think when i am feeling better i might add a day of yoga into my training...i've lost a lot of flexability.
food:
carbs: 130g 36%
protein: 127g 41%
fat: 33g 24%
total cals: 1267

i only have 2 10lbs dumbells at my apt so i had to make due today.
turkish get-ups: 10lbs 10-8-6-4-2 reps each side

stretching:
worked on overall flexability
i'm finaly starting to feel a bit better. i might venture to the gym tomorrow as i have another day off of work for MLK day. workout will be VERY low intensity. I've been off work now for 2 weeks which has been freckin awesome. I just realised I haven't even left my apt since i returned from Hawaii on Wednesday!  ohwell it's been snowing and icy, so probably safer to stay off the roads.
food:
carbs: 143g 37%
protein: 131g 41%
fat: 32g 22%
total cals: 1313

first day in the gym since jan. 1! and first day really working out since jan 3!  feeling better, probably at 80% so took it quite light today.
cardio:
2 mile run on treadmill at 0.5% incline. mile 1 at 6.5 mile 2 at 6.7
stretching:
stretched and foam rolled. IT band is slightly tight, spent some time working that area.
warm-up:
shoulder swings, and stretches
DB swings: 12.5lbs 1x20, 20lbs 1x20
BW pull-ups: 1x10
workout:
BWT today: 105lbs
made up Friday's WOD today. figured it would be a good place to start.
Weighted Pull-ups 1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1 reps
10lbs-12.5-15-17.5-20-22.5-25-30-35- 40 PR!
felt really good today, never thought i would hit a PR on a sickday! had to hold the dumbells between my thighs (really need to get a belt or something) chin above bar on all reps. the hardest part is getting the 40lb db into position! if i had someone there to help me i would have gone for 45. i'm hoping to be able to get to 1/2 of my bodyweight soon. in other good news my shoulders are feeling pretty good, let's hope the rest did the tendonitis some good. i really loved being in the gym again, and can't wait to get back to the pedal to the metalworkouts. i know i need to take it slow this week though and ease back into things.
i'll post food later tonight after i actually figure out what i am going to eat.
