ok my scale is whack. after i posted last night i decided...ok one last try for the evening. weighed me at 108lbs and 17% body fat. then attempt 2, 108lbs 18%. then 107lbs, 19%. so then i tried again this morning. 104lbs 17%, 103lbs 18% and 55% water weight. any scale that gives me a reading within a 10 hour period that fluctuates between 103lbs-108lbs and 17%bf-30%bf is ridiculous. minime, which tanita scale did you order? maybe i should send this one back and get the one you got. even if my bf is 17% i dont know how i went up 3% in 4 months. maybe i need to go back to me 1300-1500cal diet. ugh. damn this scale.
lol welch.

gymgirl : your weight will naturally fluctuate a few pounds from morning to evening. I weigh first thing in the morning always, and i am 103. If i weighed at night i would probably be 4lbs heavier too!
and the scale is not accurate, but can be used to monitor changes. If u use it at the same time of day 1x per week maybe. I dont believe in the actual figure it gives me, but rather use it for comparison purposes
and no u do not need to go back to eating 1300 calories a day! u would pass out!

i was thinking of having him do that. but then i am scared it will be 18% again! it's just a stupid number but i liked the sound of 14%, when i think of 18%-19% that is what my bodyfat was in the worst shape of my life...so when i see numbers like that again i get frusterated. i know it is stupid, but it's just like seeing that weight go up! i know it is inaccurate but why can't it be inaccurate in the opposite direction?!?! it is also right before ttotm and i just feel bloated and yucky, so this isn't helping!

dont be silly, how could it be 18% i mean i am sure you would notice a 4% bf gain lol. I know how you feel, i too feel so fat sometimes, its the extra food I guess, it messes with our heads.
but if you think of it realistically: you weigh 103lbs (we will go with the morning weight as this is the 'true' weight in my book) how could u possibly be fat?
I have convos like this with BF all the time: i say i feel fat, he says i am crazy as i am a skinny little thing, etc. etc. My mother thinks i have body dysmorphic disorder, and sometimes I think i do have a touch of it, but these days i am much better and mostly i can see what others do. When it comes to that time of the month though, or i have just eat 800calories while sitting in front of tv.. then sometimes I think "ugh, i must cut my cals"
Then i wake up in the morning, flat tummy again and say "screw it, I'm getting stronger!"

thanks minime, you are totaly right, you always talk sense into me. and it really helps that you truely understand. that stupid totm makes me feel 'fat' for two weeks. one week before i start getting bloated then the week of i look pregnant...im not kidding i look about 4 months along! i know it is crazy and like you i wake up in the morning flat tummy, and i know everything is ok. i just get crazy sometimes and that reading really threw me off. it would be one thing if i was eating bad or not training hard but when i feel i am doing everything right and i get that kind of reading i just don't know what to do! I think I am in the same boat as you minime, I've started to be able to see what others see, but not when i am pms'ing!
p.s. i like the idea of going with the morning reading. i know that your weight flucuates during the day but i didn't think it would fluctuate by 5lbs! I'll stick with weighing morning only and i'll test my bf% in a couple weeks AFTER totm and see if it changes. ok i'm starting to feel better, thank you minime.

If you raise your arm over your head and can see your ribs, you have bf under 16% (I think that's right for a woman - for a man it's something like 13%); if you can see your abs it's 13-14% or less (9-10 for a man). If you can churn out a sub-30 minute time on the Filthy 50's, you're in great shape. That's all you really need to know. All the bf measuring methods are inaccurate, the only thing they're really good for is running you crazy.

Trainer Day! woot woot!
warm-up:
front lever work
windsheild wipers
workout:
"CrossFit Total"
Back squat, 1 rep 155lbs(PR)
Shoulder Press, 1 rep 75lbs(PR)
Deadlift, 1 rep 160lbs(PR)
total: 390
back squat: 45x10, 55x5, 65x3, 85x3, 105x3, 125x1, 135x1, 145x1, 155x1 (PR)
shoulder press: 20x5, 30x3, 40x3, 45x3, 55x1, 65x1, 75x1 (PR)
deadlift: 115x3, 125x1, 135x1, 145x1, 160(f), 160x1 (PR)
last time: 12/12/06
squat: 125, Shoulder press: 70lbs, deadlift: 125 total: 320
well i sure surprised myself today. squats actually felt good, same with DL. I'm really thankful to have my trainer around for workouts like this. I feel more comfortable having him there to watch my form and give me pointers. on the first deadlift at 160 attempt, i could hardly get the bar off the ground. my trainer told me i was straightening my legs too soon before lifting from my hips on that rep. if he didn't tell me that there is no way i would have known to fix it and wouldn't have gotten the rep on the second attempt. it was also werid to start my warm-up set of DL at 115lbs. i was surprised it wasn't as hard as i thought it would be.
oh and GREAT NEWS! when i got to the gym i grabbed that machine that you hold in your hands, enter your height, weight, gender, and age then it takes body fat by sending waves through your body or something...anyway my reading was 12.2%!!!!! PHEW! this is the same exact device i used in june that read me at 15%. so obviously neither my scale or this device are accurate but by using the same device i'm guessing my body fat hasn't gone up but that my scale is just measuring me higher. i am so relieved! lol.
food:
carbs: 195g 37%
protein: 156g 35%
fat: 54g 27%
total cals: 1825

Great show of strength gymgirl!
I've got several comments about this BF % fiasco, but I'll have to post tomorrow when I have sufficient time to express my thoughts. See you then!

Great workout GG. Your strength is really zooming! :
As far as the BF% goes, just remember it is a tool. Just watch the direction it is headed.

wow - GREAT job on the big lifts gymgirl! you are so strong now! was your squat a low one? and do u feel that you could have done more than one rep at these weights?
I am blown away: i think that with 155 on the bar if i squatted down i wouldnt be able to get back up!

oh and lol about the bf% reading... i know you must be so relieved even though it was just silly anyway. It was like that time I was in the hospital and the scale there weighted me as like 5lb heavier and I was so horrified! it was like i felt instantly fat even though i KNEW it was not true! we are so crazy..
