I'm going through some hip pain from squats too. Like you, I'm not quite sure what the cause is. I know stretching the quads really good has helped. I don't own a foam roller, but have been using a "kong" ( it is a dog toy ) to relive some of the IT band tension. So far it seems to be working, but boy does it hurt!

I really love your enthusiasm GymGirl.

Great work!

Dan
hey dan! i meant to comment in your journal about the hip pain you talked about, then i got side tracked as usual. i really do think the hip pain has something to do with the IT band tightness, it sounds like your dog toy is working well then! are you squatting with your legs at a slightly wider stance? it's so frusterating not know what causes it because you don't really know how to go about fixing it!

and you read correctly on the squat weight/reps. thanks for the nice comment. it's funny i don't think people notice the squatting but when i am deadlifting that much i've seen people look at me like i am crazy. one guy even went so far as to come over last week to say he wanted to intruduce himself to the 'hardest working girl in the gym'. hahaha. i dont know about that but i'm glad i'm not known as the girl who does nothing but talk in the gym. lol

brat, i'm not a huge creme brule fan, but b/f LOVES the stuff. i didn't want my own dessert so we shared. i would never think of creme brule as being 'good for you' but i guess it's better then the browine with ice cream i was eyeing.

minime, i dont know how you can drink like that! b/f was teasing me saying he'd never seen me so drunk. lol i had a small case of the spins when i got into bed. the good thing about a nice italian wine is i never seem to get hung over. if i had drank 1/2 a bottle of some crappy wine i would be feeling it badly today. last time i had 2 glasses of some washington red at a bar and was hung over for an entire day. i don't know how i drank that boones farm crap in high school. yuck taht and the $5 fifths of vodka.

That's funny gymgirl, but you haven't drank "crap" until you have drank Ripple or Mad Dog 20/20.

Ah yes, my fraternity days, I miss them. I used to love the "Mad Dog Gloves" night for the pledges (even when I was one) where you had a mad dog duct taped around each hand. The trick was to slam te first one real fast so that you can undo it and use that hand togo to the bathroom. I'm so glad I lived through college.

i love presidents day, as i get the day off work. anyday when i am not forced to go to work is a great day!
i even made it to the gym by 9:30am.

warm-up and running:

800m warm-up at 6.5, 1 min rest then made up sundays WOD

Three rounds for time of:
Run 800 meters
Rest 2 minutes

1. 800m: 3:45 (8.0 on treadmill, 0.5% incline)
2. 800m: 3:36 (8.3 on treadmill, 0.5% incline)
3. 800m: 3:35 (8.3,8.1, 7.9,8.3, 8.5, 0.5% incline)

800m cool down at 6.5

man that was rough. 2 min rest was not enough. my legs were on fire but i wasn't too badly out of breath. i really wanted to quit during that third round. i'm pretty happy with my times, i've never run 400m under 4 min before and i think my goal was 3:50. JDR, minime, pierini i dont know how youguys run in the low 3 min and under 3 min! you guys are aweome!

stretching:
10 min of stretching, shoulder PT, and some shoulder warm-up

workout:

"Barbara"

Five rounds, each for time of:
20 Pull-ups
30 Push-ups
40 Sit-ups
50 Squats

Rest precisely three minutes between each round.

Post time for each of five rounds to comments.

round 1: 3:27
round 2: 3:26
round 3: 3:05
round 4: 3:30
round 5: 2:47

I can't compare to anything as last time i did Barbara my tendonitis was so bad that we subbed body rows for pull-ups and push-ups were to a bar. all rounds did 10 kipping pull-up un-broken then final 10 broken very badly into sets of 1-2. push-ups were usualy 15/5/5/5, sit-ups and squats unbroken. good workout. also felt like giving up after round 3 today. i'll post food tonight. i'm going ot enjoy the rest of my day off by doing some cooking and catching up on tv. yes i still have more to catch up on. i'm 2 weeks behind on lost.

have a great day everyone, and happy birthday pierini!

Gymgirl, awesome job on Barbara!!!

You could have done it twice to my once! I can't even imagine doing the situps unbroken. And for the pushups I'm just glad I did them all regular and none from my knees!

Fantastic job:

As for the 800's, thanks for letting me have one same win! lol
Great work on the double Wod.

Absolutely amazing gymgirl, particularly the last round. Maybe you need to eat a big meal and drink some vino more often.

how the hell did u get the round in 2:47? I mean its a total of 140 exercises, surely each one takes at least a second, which is 2:20 and that doesnt count moving between equipment and broken sets?

you must have looked like you were moving on fast-forward! lol!

btw you beat kelly moore, way to go ( i know she was wearing a weighted vest but STILL)

awww thanks guys. you all are so nice. i was surprised my times were pretty decent, but i saw some peeps with times in the 2 min for all freckin rounds! i don't know how they do it.

lol minime i saw kelly moores time and said WHOOOOO i beat her, then i kept reading and saw the 15# vest. lol so close yet so far...

i don't know how i got that last round in 2:47 i know i had done my pull-ups in around 40 seconds (first 10 took 17 seconds). and on this last round i didn't move at all between exercises. i set up a mat right next to the pull-up bar and dropped down for push-ups and sit ups there, then stood right back up for squats. the other rounds i was moving over to the decline bench for sit-ups. i think i make up time on the sit-ups and squats.i definitely went pedal to the metal on the last round. it's easier to push really hard when you know you are almost done!

my IT band is very sore today. i'm assuming its from the runs.

pierini, maybe you are right...more big meals and vino for me!

oh hell no! they were anchored under the squat rack when i did them on the floor, and anchored on the decline bench for the first 3 sets.

i was looking at the times again and look at this guy. he did this with strict pull-ups too, as rx'd....then pukie paid him a visit.

1:56
2:01
2:09
2:40
2:47

oh then i saw this:

2'01"
1'55"
1'49"
1'53"
1'57"

holy smokes.
