thanks brat and tim.

tim the lateral touches...hmm i'm so bad at explaining but i'll try. it's an agility drill...we used to do them in soccer and gymnastics. you start standing in the middle of two points (we used two benches) then start by pushing to one side (like a hop/skip/shuffle type thing, but you try to get your body really low) and reaching down to touch the bench then it's like a side sashe back to center and you repete on the other side. you are really trying to push off your leg it really works your adductors. oh here is a link that might explain better: Lateral Shuffle

they really kill my abductors which is good because they are so weak which causes most of my hip/knee/glute pain.

brat, interesting about the new trainer technique. my trainer wants to tell me, but i won't let him. everytime i know how much weight i'm lifting i pshyche myself out. if i don't know i just keep going. lol see igorance is bliss.

Damn... I actually had no clue you were this strong. Just had a gander through some of your pages. What do you currently weigh?

Hi, Dark. I weigh 105# right now. When I don't lift I tend to get down to 100-103.

arbit, i buy about 18 sessions for around $900, it works out to about $50 per session. minime, I'm sure he would come to boston for the right price! and thanks for the nice comment.

Well I finally made my appt. to go visit CrossFit North! I have to attend a 1 on 1 free training session so they can 'assess me'. The lady told me most people are required to then take 3-4 personal training sessions ($75 each) before they are allowed to attend regular classes. I told my trainer this who said he would be quite disapointed in CF if they made me buy PT sessions...I'm sure some of my exercises might need a bit of tweaking here and there...but I guess I will find out next week. I'm excited to go to a gym where they allow HSPU's, and won't frown when I do DL's and oly lifting.

gymgirl, I'm sure you won't be required to take the personal training sessions, or at least not three. That is probably a guideline for people who are new to crossfit : you prob get better times on the WODs than some of the trainers lol.

How far from where u live is the crossfit?

Sounds exciting! I can't wait til i can go too!

i hope not, my trainer will be pissed! lol I was looking on their website and they have a sub 10 min club for some of the WOD's. I want my name up there...they only have guys posted too.

the CF gym is about 10-15 min from my house with no traffic. If I go from work it is probably 20-30 min, and during traffic it could take 45min-1 hour. It is very close to the university and traffic there is attrocious. That's another reason why I have put off going for so long. I made my appt early on a Saturday morning so I won't have to deal with traffic. the college kids will all be too tired and hungover to be out and about.

how far is the CF going to be from you when you move to bean-town?

It seems every week I hear more and more about CrossFit. It's like a fightclub thing (outsider looking in). Hopefully, you crossfitters don't have crazy schemes hatching like in the fight club movie.

Those lateral hops sound like they got you good. Ever try it with a cable attached (to cable machine)? Good stuff gymgirl.....keep at it.

haha. no crazy schemes that i know of, just intense pedal to the metal training. I've been crossfitting for about a year now, in a regular gym, but I always annoy members and the staff by taking up space or doing things they consider dangerous (handstsand push-ups, bench jumps) so i want to see what it's like to workout in a different setting, and be able to use rings and ropes. I'll let ya know if there are any fight club schemes going down. lol

those lateral hops did get me good. i've never tried them with a cable...i think i would trip! the only thing i have done is those side leg raises with a cable for resistance...that was a long time ago though.

First rule of Crossfit: We do not talk about Crossfit.
