For all you women out there, less weight is not always better. Beauty is not a monotic function wrt weight. At some point losing weight starts to take away from beauty.
If Gymgirl is to be believed, her height is 5'3", and BMI classifies her as underweight @103lbs

Minime, I think you may have some body image issues...be careful, its a very slippery slope

arbit, i wasn't offended when you thought I weighed 125. I just figured 1.) you thought I was taller or 2.) the only picture you had seen is my avatar. Maybe I'm totally wrong and you saw a full body shot of me and thought I weighed 125. Either way I found it interesting, maybe if you saw me in person and thought I weighed 125 I'd be shocked. lol

Anyway, personally I think BMI is a crock of you know what. Here is a pic of me at 103lbs approx 14% bodyfat. I don't think I look underweight at all (maybe I'm crazy)

I've actually been pretty consistent at 105 for the past couple of months, and I belive my bodyfat has stayed the same, but I do look slightly bigger (my shirts are tighter) mentioned that today when i put on a blouse that gathers right on the bicep, and i hadn't worn it since last summer. so I think I am gaining in the right places...

oh and minime, thanks for the comment on my workout. i have no idea where the nearest track is...i think probably at a high school but i have no idea if i can just go and use it! I should realy look that up as spring and summer approach. i'm definitely curious to see how my times would differ...they might actually be worse as i have the treadmill pushing me to run...lol

Alot of it has to do with bone structure too. I have bigger bones than my best friend. She is around 100-105 lbs. I sit closer to the 120-125 mark. We are exactly the same height.

I can relate to that. Everything I buy now in shirts is the next size up more for comfort in the shoulders area (certainly not for the chest area).

yes it is probably a bone structure thing.. i too think i look perfectly healthy at 103-105 now that i lift. Back when i was a cardio junkie/calorie restricter i weighed barely less (maybe 5lb) but i looked awful.

people with a larger bone structure could not get down to 105lb without bones sticking out etc.

great pic by the way you look great!

Now I'm the opposite again. Most people who look at me in person guess me as taller than I am and lighter. They think I am small boned, but my measurements indicate that I am not.

Pictures are ridiculously inaccurate. I have guessed every superstar woman (and some men) as being much taller IRL because they have a "larger than life" presence.

I think GG gives that impression too. I just have to think gymnast and then it all makes sense to me.

Hi arbit,

I'm gymgirl's unofficial spokesperson. She's an American as we call ourselves in the U.S.A.

i agree with lady c, minime and brat on the bone structure thing...

minime i know exactly what you mean. when i weighed around 100lbs and didn't lift as much i think i looked awful. now that i lift a lot more i feel like i look better. Arbit, I'm one of those people who when I DON'T workout i LOSE weight. I took a month off cardio/lifting etc and got down to 97lbs, this was 100% unintentional and i looked awful. In no way shape or form do i want to resemble nicole richie or kate bosworth or any other hollywood waif type. I think I've made it pretty well known (atleast in the past) that the look I am striving for is Jessica Biel or Evangilline Lilly. if you think these girls look like Nicole Richie then we have 2 completely different ideas of what is 'healthy'.

glute still bothering me slightly. had major cramps and didn't feel like working out at all.

warm-up:
100 double dirty dog walks
foam rolling legs
CFWU x2 -pullups and dips

Trainer Day!

workout:

"CrossFit Total"

Back squat, 1 rep 125#
Shoulder Press, 1 rep 80# (PR)
Deadlift, 1 rep 225# (PR)

total: 430
last time: 460

squat warm-up: 45x5, 65x3, 75x3, 85x3, 85x3, 85x3,

squat: 95x1, 105x1, 115x1, 125x1, 125x1

shoulder press warm-up: 20x3, 30x3, 40x3, 45x3,

shoulder press: 55x1, 65x1, 75x1, 85(Fail), 85(fail), 80(fail), 80x1(PR)

deadlift warm-up: 135x3, 155x3

deadlift: 175x1, 205x1, 215x1, 225x1(PR)

I'm not happy with my squats but my trainer was insistint that I work on form today. Apperently I lean forward too much and stick my butt out too far. Today i had to work on squatting very low and keeping my back as upright as possible along with pushing my hips and knees forward. I don't like crossfit squatting! I'd rather squat just below parallel and lean forward slightly if need be!

The bottom position of the squat is identified by:
A) the apex of the crease in the shorts formed as
the hips are lowered,
B) the surface of the top of the patella,
C) the plane formed by a straight line between the
two, and
D) the dipping of the hip end of that plane below
horizontal.

It is so hard to squat this way. I can't believe my squat went from 185 with pretty ok form to squatting 125 with what my trainer now calls very good form. I'd rather squat with ok form and put up more weight. lol. all i did was cuss and tell him how much my workout sucked. lol.

I was happy to finally get a new SP PR. Then DL came and I was so mad about my stupid squat form and low weight that DL were super easy. I had no idea how much weight I was doing and then he said "well you've hit a new DL PR". then he added more weight, and it went up easy. then he added another 45lbs plate and i just looked at the bar thinking holy cow there are two plates on each end! I knew in the back of my mind that it was 225, but ignored it and just went for it. again surprised that i didn't struggle one bit. I think that anger helped. lol anyway thrilled to finally have more then doubled my BW on DL.

p.s. lets see nicole richie DL 225#.

p.s.s. arbit, no my family is not from india. i get that all the time though. that or etheopian...family is not from their either. and thanks for the nice comment. boys didn't like me because i was not blonde... ;-) also was a tomboy!

Anything but those nasty obliques! Guys would kill to show off a groin V-groove like hers. You are light years more feminine than her GG.

Nice PR's - you're obviously not done yet!:

Didnt she weigh like 145 ?

Again that blonde thing...
There's a commercial right now where blondes and brunettes are in "war". Some hair color commercial.

Gymgirl, I knew the DL was going to go big!!!

I agree with you on the squats also, you have to be somewhat comfortable when you are lifting heavy.

Anyway, AWESOME JOB:
