also i am not sure what jessica biels weight is, but as she is a tall girl (5'7 i think) you cant really compare. However, i would guess her to be about 130lbs at 5'7 from that picture.

Jessica Biel appears to be working out hard and it's starting to show. She looks great! Although I've heard reports her new backside didn't come directly from squats lol.

see i love that V thing! haha. i know it's a bit mascule, but i think it looks cool. Yea jessica biel looked great in the blade movie, but i think she looks even better now. Arbit, i have no idea how much she weighs, but i think minime is right and she's like 5'7 or so.

JDR3 thanks for the faith in the big deadlift! You believed more then I did!

I was always envious of girls with those two distinctively feminine indentations at the base of their spine-top of the butt. Not all women have them and the leaner ones wear them well. (I've never seen that trait on a guy)

again didn't feel like working out. I was tossing and turning last night and kept getting up to eat and was up from 1:30am-4:30am I was supposed to get up at 4:45am and made a 'business decision" hehe to sleep in until 5:30(go figure i fall asleep 15min before i am supposed to get up) and just not get ready for work. ha.

cardio:
3 mile run
800m warm-up at 6.5
400m at 7.8, 400m at 6.4
400m at 7.9, 400m at 6.4
400m at 8.0, 400m at 6.4
400m at 8.1, 400m at 6.4
400m at 8.1, 400m at 6.4

this was so hard today. i almost quit at round 3 but pushed through it.

stretched, foam rolled and did shoulder PT exercises

warm-up:
10x:10 sec handstand holds
hang power cleans: 45x10, 65x3
dips: 40# assist, 5, 25# assist 5

workout:

"Nasty Girls"

3 rounds for time of:
50 Squats
7 Muscle-ups (sub 4 pull-ups/4 assisted dips (25#) x7
135 pound Hang power cleans, 10 reps (sub 65#)

time: 16:26 (PR)

last time 19:45 with 55# HPC

ouch. i've never liked this workout! i was exhaused going into it and even more exhausted when i was done. I really wish our gym had rings (not that i can do a muscle up but i could do assisted or jumping...) these 7 sets of 4 pull-ups/4 dips are brutal! anyway, glad that is over!

Food:

tomorrow is b/f's 33rd b-day but we celebrated tonight, since his co-workers are taking him out to lunch tomorrow. I told him to pick anything he wanted and I'd make it for dinner. I ended up making him grilled flank steak with a red wine reduction sauce, baked mashed potatoes with mozzerella and peccorino romano cheese topped with bread crumbs, and steamed broccoli. I made baked salmon for myself and had broccoli and some potatoes. we also had some vino. so bascially the potatoes and vino were an unplanned cheat meal and my cals are through the roof! but it was worth it the food & wine was so good. i wish i could throw out the potatoes becuase i want more!

carbs: 207g 33%
protein: 199g 39%
fat: 57g 25%

total cals: 2147

You should make some rings, it's really pretty easy. Simple instructions are in the Crossfit FAQ. Just bring them in to your gym and tie them off on something, and you're good to go. All those pullups and dips are brutal.

Nice job on finding some energy!

I was dying to try ring dips when I saw them come up as a skill at the gym. They are really hard in a way I didn't imagine. I had to do a fake move just to get started. The "jelly arms" using rings are a whole new ballgame.

Muscle ups are going to be just as tricky in their own way.

That's a darn good sounding dish you made your BF gymgirl. I would have doubled up on the flank steak and ate more broccoli and passed on the potatoes as I can eat those anytime but I don't always get a steak that is as flavorful as the one you made sounds.

33 years old, getting up there. A trainer at my gym had a 40th birthday party a couple of years ago and I wrote a poem which I read at the party. Can't remember it all but one line drew a laugh when I said something like: "Happy Birthday Johnny, turn 40 in great taste, now the number of your years is larger than the inches around your waist." That was to get back at him because when I turned 50 he gave me a case of adult diapers, which I am saving to give back to him when he turns 50.

Hope you get a good nights sleep. We are both burning the midnight oil in the sleep deficit department.

GREAT job on nasty girls, gymgirl! oh i had a look at the video for that one yesterday and i was horrified lol. In the video are those girls actually doing 135 for the cleans? Also, i thought a power clean was no bend in the knees. I am confused again, as from the vid they looked like regular hang cleans to me. Stupid cleans being so confusing!

HAHA can u imagine the reaction in your gym if you showed up with your own homemade rings and tried to hang them from something! lol. Well soon you will be at crossfit and you can test out the rings there. I bet you will be able to do a muscle up, and seven with a little practice

also, delicious sounding dinner for your bf : and your calories are hardly through the roof... at least you had done the tough workout beforehand and you deserved the treat!

Why no froyo for dessert?!

Pierini that is funny! the adult diapers too.. what a great idea!

No i think you are right, they were doing regular hang cleans. Which video did you watch? The one that was posted was the boys doing nasty girls (haha that sounds funny) but there is a girl video of nasty girls too. Hang cleans you bend slightly at the knees, it's a small dip for some power, then a shrug with the shoulders to pull the weight...which part of the no bending of the knees are you referring to? at the start of the clean or at the end when you catch in a "squat clean"? Oh and I'm hoping the girls were doing 95#HPC's but my work computer sucks and it buffered so much and the video was tiny so i couldn't tell. I wouldn't be surprise if they were doing 135 though. those girls are crazy strong.

Tim, I'd love to make some rings. My trainer has made some and only brings them in the gym when the owner is not there. lol minime is right my gym would FREAK if i brought some in, but maybe on one of my early work days when i get to the gym at 2:30 I should bring some in (after i make them of corse!)

I used to be able to do muscle ups on a bar back in my gymnastics days...that's basically how we could get back up to the higher bar if we fell on a giant or something. coach would lift you up and you'd muscle up to the bar, then cast to handstand for another attempt at a giant. Rings are a whole new world though due to the unstability of them. I've tried once at my trainers house with a false grip but that was after a few beers...lol I'd like to try again though. minime i so wish i could go to crossfit all the time, but i'm hoping if i don't have to buy too many PT session that i can maybe go 1-2x per month on saturdays. It's just not feesable to drive there during the week and the earliest class they have is 5pm, i'm ususly just ending my workout or on my way home at 5pm!

Brat, thanks and I'm going to try to watch that video at home. my work computer isn't doing much this morning...

oh and thanks pierini and minime, BF loved the dish. This morning even he was like damn that was a great flank steak and he wanted to eat the potatoes for breakfast. haha. Potatoes are special in our house as we never have them. minime, he had ice cream, not even fro-yo he had an entire pint of ben and Jerry's bananna split ice cream! I think I'll save the froyo for this weekend. oh and that's what i was telling myself while doing nasty girls...I'm gonna eat big tonight so i better work hard! ha.

p.s. pierini so funny about the diapers...I'll have to do that for b/f's 40th! I called him this morning and said...happy birthday, you're old!

an entire pint!! I've done that with froyo but never full fat ice cream. Though I am sure Ive consumed a dessert with that many calories... what is it a thousand for the pint? more probably i guess.

i would SO not choose banana split though if I were having full fat ice cream. It would be some form of chocolate yumminess. Chocolate therapy is one i have had before and it was really good, but really rich and a bit sickening.

have you ever tried the stonyfield farms range of froyo? they have a nonfat chocolate that is yummy, but it doesnt have any chunks and thats the part you like best isnt it... its only 400 cal though for a whole pint.

anyway enough ice cream talk! sorry.. got a bit carried away... i have not had ice cream in a while...

ok so the vid i watched was the girls doing it, and it did look like they bent their knees but i guess not super bent, its just that i thought a power clean was virtually no bend in the knees at all.

The girls are crazy strong alright.. the plates on the bar looked big but i guess they could have been 25s... probably not though! scary ladies!

i know the pint of full fat ice cream is nuts. that is not normal, but it is normal for him to finish an entire pint of froyo. he really has a sweet tooth, and has to have dessert everynight. i wish i could help change that a bit...and sometimes he can get into having a zone bar and whey protein shake after dinner as 'dessert'.

thursday, march 22, 2007

so i got to the gym 45 min before my trainer appt and spent some time warming up and doing PT exercises.

warm-up:

100 double dirty dog walks
PT shoulder exercises

CFWU x2 - pull-ups and dips
subbed KTE for sit-ups

snatch balance practice
handstand holds and free standing HSPU practice. super duper close, about 1 inch from touching forhead to ground and back up.

Supposed to meet my trainer but he had some scheduling conflicts and couldn't make it. so basically by this point i was getting annoyed and just wanted to go home.

workout:

push press warm-up: 20x10, 30x10, 45x5

Push press 3-3-3-3-3-3-3 reps

55x3, 65x3, 70x3, 75x3, 80x3, 85x3, 90x3

That was it. I couldn't think of anything to do and quite honestly after kiling 45 min at the gym of warm-ups i said screw it and went home. probably should have done more though, felt like a wasted training day, but i was sore/tired and those push presses were tough today for somereason. tomorrow is supposed to be a rest day but i feel guilty for not training hard enough today that i am toying with the idea of training. we shall see.

food:

carbs: 178g 32%
protein: 172g 39%
fat: 55g 28%

total cals: 1830

'hard' for some reason? maybe because you are almost pressing your bodyweight!! that is crazy good numbers for the push press! 90x3? wow!

that sucks about your trainer not showing, but youve had a great workout week til last night so don't worry bout it!

with the BF tell me about it, i am forever trying to get mine to be healthier with food.. hes actually really good but has little willpower when it comes to goodies. I used to be like that too, but these days i rarely get cravings for candy.
