rest day
did 700 sit-ups on ab roller
made crepes for breakfast for bf and I. I used whole wheat pastery flour, 1 egg, and non-fat milk. For the filling I used low fat ricotta, only 1/2tbs sugar and a whole lot of mixed berries. Overall I don't think it was that bad, but I could have used some protein. Spent sunday shopping with bf as he is getting ready to hit the Cannes Film Festival for work, lucky bastard. The South of France has to be my favorite place in the world and he hates it!
Food:
been trying to up my fat a bit, as I am still waking up atleast once if not more times per night to eat. Sat, Sun I only woke up once which was better...damn this appetite, I better not put on fat. I'm hoping I have just built more muscle and now my body is requiring more calories...I had no idea though.
carbs: 196g 37%
protein: 165g 34%
fat: 63g 29%
total cals: 1996
Today will most likely be a rest day depending on what time I get out of my CPR & defibulator class.

Ab roller?? I used to think that was the ab wheel doo-hickie. Guess I'm wrong. 700....that my dear is a lot of situps.
I would seriously doubt you would put on fat in the state of training you are in. I would think your caloric intake is too low....but you seem to be analyzing the data and making changes if necessary.
You're a commando lady

Hi gymgirl!! Its my first day back but your journal was the first one i read, so just wanted to say your workouts and eating are looking great! Crepes sound yummy, what is ricotta cheese is it high in protein, i thought it was just like cottage cheese? But it must not taste like cottage cheese since u like it...
Anyway, great job on all those WODS the team workouts sound like so much fun.

Hey welcome back Minime! :-) Can't wait to hear about your trip!
Ricotta cheese tastes nothing like cottage cheese, and yes thank goodness becuase cottage cheese is YUCKY! Ricotta is an italian whey cheese. It's very light and can be used in sweet or savory dishes, most of the time though it is used in lasanga, it's the white soft fillilng! I'm not sure what the protein content is, but it sure tastes yummy with a bit of sugar and berries!
Hi, Ty! No not that ab wheel...haha I can only do about 20 on that thing. I am taking it old school with the ab roller! Ab Roller on sale at AsOnTv.com
I don't know why but I have used it for 10 years and it is the only thing that seems to keep my abs lookin' 1/2 way decent.
It's also nice to hear that you don't think I will put on fat. With summer comming I want to be bikini ready! I'll keep my calories higher and keep that fat up for a bit and see how I feel. Thanks for stopping by!

No gym today as I left work early to go get my CPR/AED certification. It was only a 2 hour class with video and practice. We practiced CPR on the dummy as well as setting up the defibulator. We also leanred CPR for infants and what to do if an adult or infant is choking. Got a 95% on my written exam, missing 1 question.
felt guilty about skipping the gym but got up at 4:30 am to be at work at 6am. I was thinking of going after the class, but I didn't have any food with me.
After dinner at home I did some tabatas to ease some guilt.
Tabata Intervals:
squats: 19/19/18/18/19/19/19
push-ups: 11/11/10/9/10/8/9/9
sit-ups: 11/11/11/10/10/10/11/11
sweaty mess. Should have done this one before I showered. not my best showing, especially with the squats and sit-ups. my legs were buring by the second set...it's been a long while since i have done tabata squats. i didn't have a good anchor for my feet on the sit-ups so i had a lower score then normal.
I'll have to make up my normal monday 3 mile interval run tomorrow.
food:
carbs: 174g 35%
protein: 144g 35%
fat: 56g 31%
total cals: 1742
cals might go up as I am hungry and just had dinner 30 min ago. seriously, I had 6oz halibut, 2 cups lettuce, 1/4 avacado, light salad dressing....

That's a good something-is-better-than-nothing workout. I'd like to see a sweaty mess photo of you one day. See if your puddle is bigger than the puddle of drool I stood in on the days I played cento in Rome.
With your gymnastics background, have you ever thought of doing a Tabata workout with somersaults? I'm guessing that would be a butt-whupper.

haha you crack me up pierini! I'll have to take a sweaty mess photo sometime. I told bf about your cento game. He better not be playing that when he goes to the South of France; I guess it would be called 'cent' there.
tabata somersaults would be insane! I get dizzy now just spinning around when I dance,I can't imagine doing tabata somersaults! fun idea though!
Tim, I know right? I keep telling him, you poor thing. You get to throw parties for celebrities in one of the most beautiful places in the world. geez your life is rough. I'm asking for a recap of what celebs come to the party and what they are wearing...in 2005 the party he worked on was in Us weekly! I remember comming home from Cannes and showing him the magazine, it was pretty cool.

CrossFit WOD:
Run 10 K
time: 55:10
comments:
I really wasn't planning on doing this one. Over the past 13 months I have managed to skip this one everytime. 10k is daunting, and the idea of sitting on the treadmill for 1 hour sounds completely dreadful. Some of the CF ladies commented that they too had never done the 10k and were going to take the plunge today. They insipred me and I decided to give it a go. I was hoping to make under 1 hour and when i was done I was plesently surprised. Not a great time I know, but I'm just glad I finished! Someone offered the advice to try running 1 mile then walking 1 min which is pretty much what I did. I took an extra 30 seconds or so to stretch too as my legs started getting tight. I started each mile at 6.7 then moved to 7.0 and on the last mile i kept bumping it up till 7.6 then ran the last 400m at 8.5. I think during those last 400m I got a runners high. I felt so good and felt like I was floating on a cloud. Starting at mile 2 I got what I think is heartburn. i've only gotten this pain a few times when running (mostly when I am out of shape) and when I was in my early 20's and got hooked on madori sours..I think the sugar gave me heartburn. The pain was right below the middle of the chest but above the stomache, just ached. Didnt go away until mile 5.
Oh at 1 point right around 2.5 miles I started asking myself, "why the hell are you doing this? Why do you put yourself through this crap?" then my homegirl Christina Aguilera who always keeps it real, came on singing"
"cause it makes me that much stronger...makes me work a little bit harder... makes me that much wiser...so thanks for making me a fighter" that's why I do this crap! anyway, so glad that is over, don't want to do that again for a long long time.

wow gymgirl GREAT job on the 10k! I saw it yesterday and i thought 'no way' it was like i didnt even give it a second thought! now though... you have motivated me to at least give it a shot sometime soon... though already i am dreading the very thought of it....
Oh i always listen to xtina when i am doing cardio... the 'stripped' album is on my ipod since i first got it and i listen all the time.... I always feel slightly embarrassed by the fact that when i do my cardio i always listen to xtina, britney and Justin timberlake among other cheesy pop lol

Good job on the 10k gymgirl. I haven't run more than 3 miles at a time in quite a while, but I have been thinking about getting some longer distances in to build my base for summer-time speed work. It will be interesting to see where your muscles are sore the next day or two from this WOD.
Thanks for sharing about your Dad. Like Father, like daughter. It obvious he is a good fitness role model for you. My Dad is 80 years old and still lifts weights.
One thing I always do is to "take notes" whenever I have a chance to observe what my Dad or other healthy older clients of mine are doing. Hopefully, I'll have my turn one day and there is much to learn by observing how they tackle life in the sunset of their lives.
