Thanks everyone! That was really tough, and my hips are quite sore today. I feel like I have done 1,000 side leg raises (you know that 80's jane fonda-ish exercise where the women lays on her side and lifts her leg up and down?) Anyway I have a lot of respect for those long distance runners. I am not cut out for that.
Minime, glad it motivated you! I'm sure you will crush my time, you are such a great runner. I remember when you first started your journal you would go for 6-7 mile runs on the weekend like it was no big deal! I have no idea how you can do that. I don't want to do this again. Ya for another x-tina lover! I love her stripped album too! Your tunes sound like my cardio interval mixes! full of x-tina, JT, Britney, N'sync, Kelly Clakson et. al. haha, I'm not surprised you like that stuff too! oh and glad you like cookinglight.com! They do have good recipes that are lowfat/cal! I get the magazine which always has good ideas and it's nice that they post the nutritional info for you, not like food network.
Pierini, my dad is definitley a great fitness role model for me! I remember being really young, like 3-4 years old and he would take me to the gym with him and my mom. They had a big lobby there with tv and it over looked the raquet ball courts. I would sit and watch my dad play. Then he would go outside and run this trail that looped around outside of the gym. I'd sit by the tennis court and throw tennis balls. haha. My mom is a fitness addict too, but she walks and does elipitical and lifts...she's actually got some biceps on her! When they move closer to me this summer they want me to 'train' them, they'll pay me too! haha. I'm gonna get them doing crossfit, should be fun! I love that your dad lifts weights! I remember you telling the story of seeing him in the yard push-pressing and you asked him 'arent you too old for that' haha or something along those lines and he responded with the same thing back to you...maybe I'm wrong but I thought you shared some great story like that!
Arbit, yes my dad was 49 when I arrived, you must be good at math.
Hi, JDR! Thanks for stopping by!

warm-up:
CFWUx2- pull-ups/dips. sub hanging leg raises for sit-ups
Burgener WUx3
BW squats x15
downward dog to cobra x3
workout:
"CrossFit Total"
Back squat, 1 rep 165# (+10) (PR)
Shoulder Press, 1 rep 85# (0)
Deadlift, 1 rep 230# (+20) (PR)
total: 480 (+30) (PR)
back squat: 45x10, 95x5, 115x3, 135x1, 145x1, 155x1, 165x1(PR)
shoulder press: 20x10, 30x10, 45x3, 55x1, 65x1, 75x1, 85x1, 90(F)
deadlift: 50x8, 135x5, 155x3, 175x3, 185x1, 200x1, 220x1, 230x1(PR)
comments:
I'm counting the squat as a PR because this is the most weight I have done going past parallel. I did 185 once but that was just to parallel. This time I went until I got the thigh crease, I actually got stuck and almost had to bail, but managed to push through. Luckily the owner wasnt paying attention so I could squat in my socks. Shoulder press started off easy and I was hoping to hit 90, but 85 was very tough and a struggle to get it up. deadlifts I thought no way would I hit 225 again. They were getting heavy around 185 and I didn't know how I would get 40 additional pounds. I think 230 is my true max as my pull felt good but pretty slow, and I don't think I could have managed 1 additional pound.
I went back to see what I scored on my first CFT and here are the results.
12/12/06
squat: 125#
press: 70#
deadlift: 125#
total: 320
Now I need to somehow add 27# to my CFT so I can hit one of my 2007 goals of scoring 'elite'.
Food:
carbs: 171g 32%
protein: 151g 34%
fat: 65g 33%
total cals: 1814
Last night was the first night in about 2 weeks that I slept through the night without having to get up to eat! I'm gonna have to look at what I ate and keep doing what I did yesterday. I thought I would have been hungrier condsidering the run I did...

Very impressive performance gymgirl. I imagine there is a growing audience at your gym watching your every move.

haha, I go around 2:30-4pm sometimes until 4:30 before the gym is crowded. Usually the same people there in the early afternoon, they are getting used to me, but the new people do stare and give me weird looks. Some of the regular guys have started to tell me they are impressed by how hard I work.
one of the guy trainers (my old trainer and I used to call him Mr. hypertrophy) has started telling me I am putting on mass, not only in legs and butt but today he said in my arms and shoulders. He's started asking me about my training. Kinda funny 6 months ago he used to tell me I do too much 'endurance' and should train more for hypertrophy. He used to do isolation exercises only, but over the past month or so I have seen him start to deadlift a couple times a week! It's kinda fun when others start seeing your results and then realise you might be onto something.
Minime, JDR- Thanks!

warm-up:
CFWUx2 -dips/pull-ups + hanging leg raises, push-ups
BW squatsx15
Burgener WUx3
Handstand holds x5
Power clean warm-up: 45x10,55x5
workout:
Five rounds for time of:
95 pound Power clean, 21 reps (sub 60#)
12 Handstand push-ups (against wall)
time: 17:18
comments:
I am horrible at math so figuring out how to scale for my weight is always a challenge. Everytime I divide the wrong numbers into eachother and keep getting different a number! augh. I finally said whatever and just used 60# for the power cleans. Everything was broken very badly. during the HSPU I kept tasting something salty, I finally realized all my sweat from my body was dripping downward into my mouth! yum huh? good workout, completely drenched and much harder then it looks on paper. Pierini I think you would like this one. Maybe you can add it to your list of 'to do's" on your power clean and push-press days. really gets your delts
food:
carbs: 172g 34%
protein: 156g 38%
fat: 53g 29%
total cals: 1750
I'm sure I will eat more later. I have to get up at 4am tomorrow.

I did the cleans from the floor. Some people did hang power cleans, but it was written as regular power cleans so I did them that way. My forearms and legs were fried and today my traps are very sore. 5x21 really sneaks up on you. Have fun with this one today, it looks easier on paper so be prepared! :
oh and I took arbit's comment as the U.S. school systems suck and are a joke, so lucky for him he can come over and swoop up our jobs.

Thanks minime. Kinda funny how someone can assume that because a person is not good at math and spelling that they are unintelligent. Lucky for me my job dosen't require much writing and my math is sufficent enough that I am able to manage a very large budget. oh and somehow with the education I recieved in our poor U.S. school system <sarcasm> I managed to earn a salary that allows me to purchase $200 jeans if I please...funny how that works.

Too bad you don't have blond hair gymgirl, because then we could call you a "dumb blond" and tell you to go shopping at Norstroms.
