Gym only open till 6 and got there at 5:30
CFWU x 1
" Helen"
Three rounds for time:
Run 400 meters
40 pound dumbbell swing
12 Pull-ups
Time 13:30
Russ used 30 lbs db and assisted pullups
Time 14:00
For me, using the 40 instead of 55 I found I could really control the weight and
could pull down hard from the top to go faster. With the 55 its more let it drop
and hope to have good form at the bottom. Will go up 5 next time till I find max
weight with control I want.

Long time reader first time commenter JDR!
Love reading about the hard edge of CrossFitters around here; gives us soft round the edge types something to aim for . Always impressive!
Keep up the good work in '08!!
P.S. What style of Karate do you practice?

Pseudonym, thanks for stopping by! I've also been following your journal.
After reading your 12 days of Christmas post I don't think anyone around here
is going to call you "soft around the edges"!
PS - Shotokan based, Gosoku-Ryu Karate
Thanks Minime, I'm hoping its going to be a good year and can sneak a couple
of PR's in along the way!
Unexpected rest day, will be back at it tomorrow.

Well tomorrow was 4 days later. Work and blown down fence have kept be busy.
CFWU x 1
" CrossFit Total"
Back squat, 1 rep: 355 - stopped here, was easy and had my max depth.
Shoulder Press, 1 rep: 160 - ties PR - missed 165 badly
Deadlift, 1 rep: 405 - stopped here, form was not very good
Total 920
Have not squatted or deadlifted much lately, so had numbers in my head
I wanted to hit. Stuck with my decision, but definitely could have squatted more.
