Hey Laura, keep us updated on things. I know how stressful moving can be. I am moving next month and I already dread packing and unpacking. It's good to hear that you've gotten a lot better with your eating. More protein is going to help you out a lot in the long run. Anyways, good luck with everything.

Laura - I like your name. :
I just took a quick glance in your journal and if you don't mind some suggestions:
1) If you have chocolate cravings, some things to you can do to minimize it is try spoon fat-free chocolate flavored syrup over nonfat yogurt, or eat chocolate right after a meal, so you're more likely to choose small portions. And if all fails, buy a small quatites of Hershey's Kisses and use it as a treat.
If you have sweet cravings, try to eat some fruits. Other things you can try are sf jello, sf popicles, low carb low fat yogurt, try to freeze bananas or strawberries and eat it as an ice cream. Well sort of...
2) What I usually do is marinade my chicken, turkey, or fish on Sunday and just grill it up in my George Foreman grill. I also cook a big quantity of brown rice & sweet potatoes in the beginning of the week and eat it for the remaining week.
3) Have you tried Whey Protein? It's fast, convenient and if you add some natural peanut butter, it taste like really good.

thanks for the support/advice laura and andrea! i definitely agree popcicles are a great option for sweet cravings and i also have starting drinking ON chocolate whey which really does taste like a milk shake.
i was so happy yesterday...i finally moved up to 20 lbs. on bicep curls!! i'd been stuck at 15 forever.
here is my arms workout...i was wondering what other people thought of it and if it seems balanced. i like using dumbells instead of machines because then i can just get pile of weights in front of me and get to work instead of having to move around to machines. i also alternate sets so i'll do like one of biceps then one of triceps then one of biceps etc... without really resting much inbetween. is there any reason i should to all my sets of one muscle with rests inbetween before moving on instead of alternating the way i do?
bicep curls
8x20
6x20
6x20
french presses
12x20
12x20
12x20
not sure what its called by start with weight but thighs and lift it up to shoulder level in front of you
8x10
8x10
6x10
same thing but lift to the side instead of in front
8x10
10x7.5
10x7.5
anyone see any major problems or missing areas or anything?
thanks for the help

also I was wondering if theres really any problem with not doing much strength training with my legs. for some reason i develop leg muscle really easily and have gotten disportionately strong/big legs from sports. even though i don't do any weight training with them, my cardio workouts seem to be enough to keep the muscle. theres no reason that not working on my legs would hurt developingthe rest of my body right? thanks!

thanks so much for checking up on me andrea...its really helpful things are really hectic right now with moving and living with relatives for a week and wrapping up my job before going back to school so right now my goal is to just make an effort to workout/eat well. lifes not stable enough to stick with a set plan but once i'm back at school in 2 and a half weeks and have access to a big gym and am cooking for myself again i'm going to make a very set plan for eating and working out.
i think my biggest problem will be coming up with meals so if you (or anyone) have some favorites that are different than the standard piece of meat and cup of vegitables i would love to hear them. i especially need ideas for breakfast that aren't eggs...for some reason when i eat them on an empty stomach they make my stomach feel pretty gross.
if you have any other suggestions for making my own plan i'd love to hear them. i've read through a lot of people journals to get ideas so hopefully i'll come up with something good

Hey laura........one thing sometimes if i dont have the time to sit downa nd have a good balnce breakfast i sometimes just grab some chicken or tuna and a banana or apple. Another thing you might want to check into is MRP. Meal replacements. Its kinda like the protein powder but instead these MRP are like a meal in a package. Mix with milk or water. MET RX has soome good ones that i have tried and they taste great too. Something you might wanna check into also.
Yeah i bet it is hard to eat a set meal plan......but the best thing to do is atleast drink plenty of water and whenever you do eat, eat something healthly though. You know!!!!

No not settled yet...my job ends tomorrow then i head back to my parents house in virginia for the weekend. on tuesday i'm going on a 3 day roadtrip to help my friend get her car back to texas then its back home for a few days then moving my stuff back to school at u.va then boston for a few days for an interview then finally getting to school for good a few days before sept. starts.
during all that my goal is just to eat well and be concious of what i'm eating and get in workouts when i can. by sept. 1st (the day classes start) i'll have a set meal and workout plan and will commit to it sept. 1st. in the mean time i'll write potential plans and questions in my journal and i would love your feedback on them! thanks so much for keeping up with me, i hope that i can stick to my goals as well as you do to yours.
