Lewtz - Shedding the lbs.

Here we go.
Age: 26
Started April 22, 2006
5'9" 265.5lbs ,XXL Shirt, 40" Waist

Current Goal
5'9" ????lbs XL Shirt, 36" Waist
------------------------------------

I have no weight goal, b/c well, I have no clue what weight I'll have to get to in order to complete my first goal.

Background: Jan-March of 2005 I lost right around 35 lbs. But some stuff came up and I fell off the horse. Ended up gaining it all back, plus about 5. Had moved back home(due to mother's cancer), lost my job, etc. In the fall I got my **** together and went back to school for transfer classes for a 4yr degree in Electrical Engineering. I have a 2yr in computer programming I was not able to do anything with. But I am finishing up my exams for the spring semester this week, and look to be ending with a 3.5. Now, I figure if I can get my school life together again, I can get my weight undercontrol as it's easier then school I think.

Saturday I went cold turkey on cutting out soda, b/c I've done it once I can do it again. It's no problem. Found out I do like salads as long as they are not based off iceberg, instead spinach/mixed romaine, leaf. So started eating those.

Current excersise has been just riding an indoor bike for 45min, or going for a walk. I will not run, b/c I have bad knees and it hurts. Maybe when I'm in better shape.

Going today to signup for a local gym.

Current meals have looked like.

Breakfast:
Bowl of Raisin Bran, skim milk, banana

Snack:
1/2 sandwhich. 1 piece Wheat bread, 1 serving ham/turkey, 1 piece cheese, mustard

Lunch:
Salad: Big bowl of spinach/baby romaine/baby leaf, 1/2 onion, 1/2 tomato, 5-8 green olives, 2 tbsp parmesean cheese, 1 serving ham, light dressing.

Snack:
fruit

Dinner:
1 chicken breast.
Green Beans.
Brown rice or 1/2 potato w/ lite sour cream
...or another salad close to same above.
---------------------------------------------------
Now understand I am currently not trying to get big, or seriously hardcore cut. I am trying to make a lifestlye change towards healthier overall eating.

Hopefully I will have a basic weight program in place by friday, as it takes a couple days for gym to get you your keycard, as it's a private 24hr gym, with keycard access.

Until then I will be continuing what I am doing, as far as food, excersise.

Current: 263.6 XXL shirt, 40" waist

3 pound loss this soon? maybe water, maybe fat - either way...a good start. Good luck on your cut. Keeping track of fitday is an excellent idea. Make sure you are getting enough protein so you don't lose half muscle and half fat. Don't forget too, if you find you are getting hungry too often, you can increase your fat intake a bit to make your digestion a bit slower and keep from being hungry so much.

It's actually 2 lbs so far, I'm pretty sure its just water weight, from being bloated and such, drinking all the soda's and whatnot. Trust me, I do not want to loose weight to quick.

I am interested in bodyweight excersing with weightlifting supplements to it. Also, I have not done a pullup since I was like 10. That's another BIG goal of mine... to do, 1 pullup. Small Goals First. :

Congrats on getting your sh!t together! (I wish your mother to get well.)

Try to balance your meals better. Each one should contain protein, fat and carbs. Most meats/dairy carry the fat with them. So add some protein to those snacks. Eating the protein will also make you more full and satisfied longer.

Here is a good beginner bodyweight workout: pushups, then bodyweight squats, then situps. For each set, perform to 2 reps short of failure. Complete 5 rounds.

Here's another: assisted pullups, then walking lunges, then bicycle ab cross crunches. Same rep count, and complete the same number of rounds.

I'm a bodyweight only fitness dude. Just start posting your workouts and I'll jump in and give you my two cents.

Pierini, you got a home setup for pullups/chinups/dips? OR you do them at a gym?

Was looking at this stuff, maybe later sometime. I like the pushup atlas bar thingy they got. http://www.easychin.com/

Do yourself a gi-normous favor, do NOT check your scale weight everyday. At the most, check it once a week under the exact same conditions. For example, when I was tracking my weight last year, I would measure myself once a week on Monday morning, no clothes, before my shower, after I peed, before breakfast. It eliminates as many external factors like extra water, food, or clothes weight.

Hi Lewtz,

I train at a gym as I lack the discipline to train at home. Plus I sweat alot and my wife wouldn't want my droppings on our hardwood floors.

Have a great day!

I've gone round and round on this with people. Personally I like to. Sometimes it goes up, sometimes it goes down, sometimes it stays the same. I'm not doing it for "progress" so to speak, as much as I do it for information. Just like keeping in check. I also weigh the same way, time. Boxers, t-shirt, after i pee, right after I get up. Just what I do. I've always found it interesting that before when I was losing weight sometimes, it would go up a lb.. then stay for a while, then 1 day I would lose like 3 lbs. It's just a mystery to me, and I find it funny.

Hi Lewtz,

I'm just like you, I weigh myself every morning. Not to punish myself, just to record the information and study it over time. To each his own.

The information is interesting. It is the trend that is interesting, not the daily flucuations which are the result of hydration levels, sodium intake, the intensity of a previous day's cardio workout, whether you loaded up on carbs late in the evening, etc. etc.

Well exams are done, woohoo! Looks like I'll come out with 2 A's, 2 B's. Chemisty 2 this year sucked. Was my last exam today and took about 3 1/2hrs.

Anyhow food so far the day:

1 serving skim milk
1 serving raisin bran

subway wheat chicken sandwich, loaded with veggies and mustard

banana

salad similar to above, but had some chopped up chicken in it.
2 buffalo chicken strips from Zaxby's, couldn't resist when my brother had them.

walked a couple miles today, tomorrow starts the gym.

259.4

1 serving raisin bran
1 serving skim milk

Ham and cheese sandwich on wheat with mustard

banana

Medium sized veggie salad
about 8-9oz worth of steak, and 1/3 baked potato with sour cream

gonna have some pineapple shurbert later, only 60cal for a cup of it. not bad for htiting the sweet tooth. And I can keep myself to only a cup, self control is rocking!

Completely changing to a pretty overall healthy diet (i think it is so far), is working real well. I am feeling less bloated and slow.
