Lil'Lifter's Bulking Journal
I am starting this to hopefully help keep me a little more strict with my bulking diet and help me track my long term results from this major (continuous) bulk.
Here is a little history. In the fall I weighed 110 at 5'4'' I have been bulking since September and I now weigh 143 at the same height. At the moment I am sick (bad cold) but when I get better I plan on getting very strict with my bulker. I will record meals and a calorie break down. I would put in todays but it would make me cry I feel like crap and have not eaten close to enough.
Hopefully this will serve to help some of the younger members (are there any other young members?) who want to do a bulker and can learn from my mistakes.
On monday I am starting back in the gym and will post how things go.

my bulking shake
Here is the bulking shake I have been using to help me get my target 3000 calories a day and put on the size!
Ingredients:
2 cups of milk (1%)
1/2 cup of oatmeal
2 tsp of peanut butter
1 bananna
1 scoop of whey protein
2 table spoons of exrta virgin olive oil (thanks LA from beyond mass!)
Well there it is I put all that in the blender and let it roll for about 2 minutes. That shake has about 900 cals depending on the size of the bananna.

Today was my first day back after being sick for 4 days. It was Chest day because I decided to start my cycle over again because I don't remember where I was when I stopped when I got sick.
Overall it went pretty well my barbell work was not where I wanted it to be but I was tearing it up with the dumbbells for some reason my weights stayed the same for those :confused:
I didn't lose any weight over the time when I was sick (thank GOD!) I actually gained 3lbs so overall I am really happy that getting sick didn't set me back that much. I am going out tomorrow to get a scale (hopefully) so I can stop weighing myself at school. That is pretty much all for the update.

Here is the macronutrient breakdown for my bulking shake.
16p 23c 05f – 2 cups 1% milk
05p 23c 03f – ½ cup oatmeal
03p 01c 05f – 2 tsp peanut butter
01p 26c 03f – 1 banana (approx 4.4 oz)
22p 02c 02f – 1 scoop whey protein
00p 00c 27f – 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
47p 75c 45f = T O T A L – 893 calories

Now that track is starting I am joining a gym that is near my school and I will be going over there before track practice starts at 4:30. This will be the first time I have had a real workpout partner (no my little brother does not count) so I hope that all goes well. I will post again about what I think of the gym later.

Good luck, keep us informed.
Been shooting olive oil by the tablespoon. Anyway, decided to do three tablespoons at once, put them all in a glass and took them. Only I made the stupid error of emptying the lot into my mouth and then trying to swallow. I vomited. Which was lovely. Does the oil stay in suspension in your shake? I was using virgin olive oil before it is a lot less bitter than extra virgin.

hey lil'lifter, that shake will def help you out to get the 3000 cal mark, but when do you take the shake? do you drink it all at once? or do you split it up through out the day?

I was taking the shake as soon as I got home from school. Which was about 3:30 and then I would lift around 4:30. Now that I am going to go lift and then go to track I will be taking the shake sometime after dinner. Also I take the whole thing at once, not split through the day.

The olive oil mixes well with my shake, you can still taste it a little but it mixes in well. You should try taking olive oil is a shot glass, it makes it easier to swallow and I find it fun, but maybe I am just weird.

If I make your shake in the morning and drink it throughout the day, would the oil seperate from the rest of the shake?

Yes it will seperate. All oil is not water soluable so it will seperate and float above the liquid shake. That is why I drink mine all at the same time.

Can you blend it in the morning then just shake it up before you use it (like you do with salad dressing)?

I would think so, I don't really see why this would not work although I have never tried it.
