Merry Christmas to you too!!!! Hope you had a great day!!! I had to let myself have some apple pie and cookies today but you are right...a lot of things collide together and create an unhealthy disaster but I got the "Skinny Bitch In the Kitch" recipe book and I think it's definitaly going to help me get some new healthy ideas into my diet, especially for breakfast!
Thanks again for the encouraging words! I love you guys!!

5k row on C2
27:39
(did some other things like PUs and PLUs )
Not bad considering I still can't walk 600m without choking out leg pain - not even in the office at work.

He he, only if you are married to your sport of running!

Well, I'm no wuss for having done the rowing, but I'm starting to show my hard-headedness. The physio assessment today showed that I'm almost back to square one because of the tightness in my hip again and it points back to the 3k and 5k workouts.
I ran through a bunch of alternatives to working out that would lessen the repetitions of hip movements (like working at more power/distance in a single rep on the C2). The answer I got back from Mr. Physiotherapist was.... " I think you should not think of having any goals. Just go see what you can do for 5 minutes at a time that won't cause this tightness and pain to come back."
I'm basically screwed for workouts now! So what does one strive for after consistency and goal setting? ?
Refinement and balance I guess. Now I have to hang out with peers who are working on those same goals so I don't fall off the progress wagon.
Maybe seniors yoga and a book of the month discussion group is in my future.

sorry to hear you are still suffering from hip trouble linda, that sucks. If you took a few weeks totally off from working out would that get rid of the problem, or is it something that will haunt you forever?!
I hope you find a way to work around it, and feel better soon!

If I am understanding your ailment correctly, it seems to me that a feel good rehab exercise would be a pullup bar hang hold (multiple rounds all short of failure with short rest periods using a pair of very light ankle weights).

Ooops! I blasted from the PT for doing the rowing. He said I undid all the loosening up from the sessions so far by doing an intense session. I'm supposed to do something for 5 minutes, see how it feels then try something else - no goals allowed and no more rowing for now.
I can give swimming a try.
I also got hooked up with electrodes for 15 minutes to contract the muscles in my legs. That was heaven! ( also did some manual myofascia (sp?)release and traction). I'm doing laser treatment next week then going for an x-ray to see if arthritis is playing a role in this. For now the diagnosis is toned muscle and connective tissues (yes he said "toned") constricting the nerve.
Mr. P, funny you should say that. Last week before rowing I did some BW hanging along with my PLUs. No weights though, that is an absolute no-no because the weight of my leg alone makes the situation worse. I can't walk for more than 10 feet now without having to rest.
MM, I had taken a month off before trying rowing. The problem is partly because my brain tells my muscles to hold tension even when I am relaxed therefore they are all knotted and cannot release without some kind of help/ therapy. I'm afraid that working around or through this one means very low grade workouts compared to what I've been doing.
I got things turned around right for my ankle and my tendinitis elbow. I'm sure I can get this one figured out too.

Finally! I'm on the mend. I'm getting an MRI done but since getting the laser and professional "Dr Ho " treatment things have been healing up.
