SHOULDERS:
- db shoulder press: 27.5lbs (per arm) x 9, x 8, x 8 (increase in reps)
- bb upright row: 45lbs x 10, x 10, 50lbs x 5 (increase in reps+weight)
BACK:
- lever bent over row: 12.5lbs x 10, 15lbs x 9, 17.5lbs x 7 (increase in reps+weight)
- deadlifts: 50lbs x 10, x 60lbs x 10, x 10 (still think I can go heavier next time)
- row machine: 70lbs x 10, 80lbs x 7, 85lbs x 6 (increase in weight)
CARDIO:
I forgot my sports bra! No cardio today!!
THOUGHTS:
Well, I'm kicking into high gear now because I potentially have a *great* job offer coming down the road. The job is Special Constable for the Toronto Transit Commission, which means *better* pay than regular cops, and about *twice* the pay I'm making now. Out 1700 applicants, 500 were selected for written testing, and I'm one of the 120 that were chosen to proceed to interviews. BUT.....on top of that I have to complete the PREP police test by June 1st - this is the test I had a hard time with last year.
On a more disturbing note, I recently went for my miltiary medical and found that I had high blood pressure (141/90 x 3). I followed up yesterday with my physician and although I tested normal with my right arm, I tested 130/80 with my left. So I gave a blood sample and an ECG, and I'm to follow up in 2 weeks with my doctor. But needless to say, I'm quite perturbed, considering that I'm barely 25 years old and I've never had blood pressure issues in my life. I eat well, I don't eat a lot of salt, and I don't have a family history. The only things I can think of are
1) stress
2) the occassional cigarrette I smoke at work
3) too much alcohol
the last 2 I can deal with immediately, but what to do about stress??

BICEPS:
- db hammer curls: 17.5lbs (per arm) x 10, x 10, x10
- bb curls: 30lbs x 10, x 10, x 10 (tried these light to test the wrist, and I think I'm going to continue to hold off on curls for a l'il while longer)
LEGS:
- squat: 70lbs x 11, 75lbs x 9, 80lbs x 6, 85lbs x 5, 90lbs x 3 (increase in weight)
- calf raises (lever): 55lbs x 10, 65lbs x 8, 70lbs x 6 (increase in weight)
- lungewalk (steps): *skipped because I was doing HIIT today
CARDIO:
warmup
1min @ 4.5
1min @ 6.0
1min @ 4.5
1min @ 6.0
1min @ 4.5
1min @ 6.5
1min @ 5.0
1min @ 6.5
1min @ 5.0
1min @ 7.0
1min @ 5.5
1min @ 7.0
cool down
Total approx 18min of HIIT cardio (including warmup and cooldown)
THOUGHTS:
Good workout today. More than anything I was surprised by my HIIT, because my last session was so lousy. I paced myself differently so that I could add some extra intervals. What I now want to do is stay with the # of intervals and up the speed a bit. Then I'll go back and add more intervals to lengthen the session. And so on.

CHEST:
- db bench press: 30lbs (per arm)x 9, x 8, x 8 (increase in reps)
- incline db press: 27.5lbs (per arm) x 8, x 8, x 8 (increase in reps)
- db flys: 12.5lbs (per arm)x 11, x 11, x 11 (increase in reps)
TRICEPS:
- seated db tricep extensions: 35lbs x 9, x 7, x 7 (increase in reps)
- cable pushdown (rope): 25lbs x 9* had to stop here because I was feeling so lousy
THOUGHTS:
Felt pretty bad today so I couldn't finish my last lift, and I didn't even want to *think* about cardio. As soon as I started my tricep extensions I knew that my arms were going to give out on me, on top of already feeling slightly queasy and tired.
I'm going to take it easy the rest of the day. I'm not sure what's going on, but I do know that I've had a bad weekend at work. On top of your regular b.s., I had a harrowing experience with one of my co-workers. While showing him a buiding patrol he had a seizure right in front of me, and this was at 5am in a basement mechanical room, so no other people, no radio/phone reception. Long story short, he's doing fine now, but afterwards I smoked about every cigarette I could get my hand on.
I seriously need a better outlet for stress. Aside from....*ahem*..previous suggestions, I was thinking about taking up golf or something. I dunno. Something to get me outside learning something new....

...well, you know...now that you've mentioned it. The two don't have to be totally unrelated.
Those days where you just can't make it through the workout are rough. Go ahead and rest - even if you have to rest a day or two - then hit it again refreshed and really ready to go hard.

How about yoga? Or, on the other end of the spectrum, how about beating the hell out of a punching bag for a half an hour?

I have thought about yoga - I might look into that. As for a punching bag - I need to let the wrist heal first, but there is one at the Y that I could eventually use....
Thanks for the suggestions! :
