Congrats on the job minime. Get your power suits ready.

The privileged life is about to end. Waking up late, watching Judge Judy and the tabloid TV programs, going to Trader Joe's, cooking healthy meals, napping, waiting for Eric to come home, going to the gym, pampering yourself, etc., etc.

Now you will be in the real world like most of us. Tell Eric he will be having ramen soup every day next week. And the frozen, microwave foods will start to look really good. Let's see how long you can go without doing laundry. And don't forget the workouts.

Keep us posted.

Hey did you get on board for Angie? I did, and it sucked! I can't post till I'm all caught up but in short, it took me over an hour and I added 100 dips just for kicks (or maybe because I misread).

thanks guys! I am here at my new job.. bored out of my mind.. it sucks! I hope it gets better soon or my head will explode from exasperation.

bryson i believe its so expensive due to the high level of expertise crossfit trainers have, and the higher trainer:trainee ratio in comparison to a regular gym. Usually only 2-3 people show up to our crossfit class and the trainer still has to be paid. I imagine classes are generally small, and insurance is probably higher too due to the 'dangerous nature' of it lol

pierini, you are right my days of leisure are over. I informed erik that he will be doing the dishes from now on!

mike i did not do angie, though I want to do it soon! I bet I can do it as rx'd now, last time i did 50/50 jumping and kipping for the pullups.

Friday February 29th
CFWU, kipping pullup max test : 25! Yeah! I got it on camera too, will post later.

Back Squat warmup 45x5, 65x5
sets of 3, minimal rest (30-60seconds)
95-105-115-125-135

WOD
7 rounds for time
10 Sumo Deadlift High Pull 65#
10 ring dips

16:18

poor ROM ring dips became jumping after 2 rounds, it would have taken me all night! I was planning on only using 55 for SDHP so used what I thought was 25# bar with 15# plates, but was informed afterwards that said bar weighs 36. Still not sure as couldn't find scale.

Squats felt great could have gone heavier if I had time to rest but was in a rush.

Saturday March 1st
Epic snowboarding day! about ten inches of snow fell on friday night into saturday making for a pretty awesome powder day. Up at 7.30 to get on the first chair at 8.30, very physically challenging to board in deep snow and got worse as the day wore on (very choppy/lumpy) but great fun! I was super tired and went to bed at 10.30 after eating a peice of snickers cake and a peice of boston creme pie (small peices i swear lol)

Sunday March 2nd
Snowboarding again but only for about 2hrs. Very windy on the mountain so they closed the top chair lift (70mph wind at the top) but i took the shorter slower chairs and had some good runs. Body was tired though so had a low key day.

hey gurl! thanks for the march fitness wishes!! this girl I work with actually said to me the other day that we should do a mini triathalon together. I am all about the 5 k run it would definitaly be a good experience. How do I find out about those? are they mostly charity ran for good causes like MS and stuff like that?

also...last night I went WAY over board with food. just have been really hungry lately and had a few drinks, then went to a restaurant at like 4 in the morning and had these potato hash browns with peppers and onions, with a side of wheat toast. Needless to say I felt like crap when I woke up in the morning!! haha I definitely had to hit up the gym for sure!!!

hope all is well with you! can you believe it's almost spring !!?!??!

sounds like you're getting some great snowboarding days in!

I see what you mean about the CF, maybe it's an investment I can make in the future.

and nice work on the kips, can't wait to see that vid

hey talia, i have never done a triathlon but I would like to look into that also. I am a terrible swimmer though! I bet you could do a google search on it, and find some in your area. Going to restaurants at four in the morning?! you are crazy

j2bryson, i think the price is ridiculous even for the great expertise : 200 a month is just too much. I figure in the future it may become slightly more mainstream and perhaps more affordable. 900 for my gym for the year and I now need to pay 10 every time I take crossfit also! I just only go to class 1x per week now and the other days will just use the equipment, it is a good setup.

Went to class last night! I thought it would be linda but it was angie instead.

Monday March 3rd
Jump rope, cfwu, shoulder dislocates

"Angie"
100 pullups
100 pushups
100 situps
100 squats

27:41

Delighted with time! First time as rx'd and i knocked some minutes off! (last time 31 i think with 50/50 jumping/kipping). Pullups killed my hands which are already sore and I was down to singles by the end. Pushups also killed me but no surprises there. Pullups and pushups ~11 minutes each. Situps ~3 minutes, squats were fast : i estimate under 2 minutes.

This is one of my 'goals' accomplished (sub 30 angie)

Afterwards we stretched which was very painful.

Happy I went in the end, without a class i would never have pushed through the hand pain with those pullups.

kipping pullup vid is on youtube (25)

That is very impressive, particularly at rep 20 I think where you lost your momentum and had to regenerate it.

Thanks for sharing.

you pay $200 a month for the regular gym and $10 on top for crossfit classes? is your crossfit in a regular globo gym? Do you know how many members your CF has? interesting stuff. I think with the increasing popularity of crossfit it will drive the price up not down though.

good job on angie, i don't like her much!

That's a crazy price, my gym back home was $300 for a year, and here it's $30 a month. Got to pick your times so you can get access to the equipment and they don't have some stuff, rings would be nice, but hey.

I paid $900 for the year (got a free month) so 13 months for $900

In addition I must pay $10 each time I take a crossfit class (it is $20 for a non member to do so)

My gym is a 'stand alone' gym, not a chain. It has all the regular gym equipment and functions as a regular gym (weights machines, free weights, cardio equipment, general classes like yoga and such). It also has the crossfit 'room' which is a special area dedicated to crossfit. It has the pullup bar, rope, rings, oly bars & bumper plates, dynamax balls, boxes, kettlebells etc.

The only other option for a crossfit facility is Crossfit Boston which is a crossfit only facility and which costs 200 a month for unlimited classes (you can't really work out alone I don't think: you have to go to class)

So although 900 is a lot to pay for a year (i paid 29 a month at Golds!) it still works out cheaper than the other option. With one class a week that would bring my total monthly cost to $110 which is of course ridiculous but better than 200.

I figured that since the gym is my 'thing' and I don't really have any other expensive tastes (i don't wear designer clothes or use expensive makeup etc.) i have justified the high cost to myself. I love my gym even if they are rip off artists!

ok that is my explanation

Great work MM!! those are some fine looking kips you've got going - what a long way you've come since your first pullup eh!

congrats.

As for gym fees - meh! it's only money at the end of the day; if you've got it why not spend it on something that makes you happy (and keeps ya fit)?

Keep up the great work my friend!!

You could always make a garage gym, work out there mostly and hit a crossfit class at the gym a couple times a week. Much less $$$...
