thanks pierini! I do feel like I am making progress!

thanks for stopping by jdr!

Tuesday April 22nd
Warmup CFWU, burgener with broomstick & 33# bar

Weighted Chinup singles
10-15-17.5-20-25-27.5F-27.5F

Snatch practice 10 singles with 33#, 10 singles with 53#

1 mile run 7:18

Chinups felt tough.. I added the belt at 25# as I couldn't hold the dumbells anymore, and I am guessing the belt weighs about 2-3# so this just about ties my PR which I believe was 27# quite a long time ago. Snatches felt not so good, most were power as I lacked the confidence to get under the bar last night. Overall, a mediocre workout, but you can't win 'em all!

Hi minime,

I made alot of improvement in my ability and willingness to get into a squat snatch position by doing snatch balance drills - snatch grip bar behind the neck, then explosively dropping into a squat simultaneously pressing the weight overhead.

I try to minimize doing power snatches because of the tendency to pull higher than the optimum height for a squat snatch.

thanks for the tips pierini! I need to take my camera to the gym... having never recieved any formal instruction on this I am not sure I am even doing it right!!

Wednesday April 23rd
Warmup CFWU, skills practice

1 hr spin class

that is all. I was not feeling good at the gym, very tired and unmotivated. My body hurts. I am making a 'business decision' to take the next few days off from the gym. I will walk/ride my bike/maybe a light run and will be snowboarding some at the weekend (probably not a lot).

I just feel like my body needs a rest. I am getting really hungry/tired the last couple of days and am sick of eating nuts all the time. I am considering revising my low carb diet as I am not sure it is working out so well anymore.

Maybe I am just having an off time..

Also I am having a terrible time at work with my manager who is really annoying and keeps trying to pass off all his work/responsibilities onto me, when I have recieved no formal training and have no technical superior.

Time to start looking for a new job!

Hi minime,

Good choices.

On another note, I've always been impressed with your spelling prowess so it is with some hesitation that I inform you that it is received not recieved.

Eat like a bear and sleep like a dog this weekend and you'll be ready to go next week.

hey pierini thanks for stopping by and correcting my spelling!!

I had a very nice weekend, plenty of relaxing, some snowboarding, a few beers... lots of food.

Back to the gym last night, was working out with Chris and two of her friends who wanted to try a crossfit workout...

Monday April 28th
Warmup CFWU, thruster 33x5, handstands

Thruster singles 45-65-70-75-80- ran out of time

"Filthy Fifties"
50 Box jump
50 Jumping pull-ups
50 Kettlebell swings, 1 pood
Walking Lunge, 50 steps
50 Knees to elbows
50 Push press, 45 pounds
50 Back extensions
50 Wall ball shots, 14 pound ball
50 Burpees
50 Double unders

39:20

Chris finished her first rx'd (well almost she didn't do full burpees only squat thrusts) in 46 minutes. The other girls did 30 reps and finished about the same time as chris.

I was very disappointed in my time, I was way off my PR of 34 minutes. I was doing well too, but when I got to burpees it fell apart. I had to keep taking a break every 3-4 reps as I felt pukie/dizzy. Grrr!! I hate that when I get to this stage of the workout my body makes me slow down!

Great workout though! I love the fifties.

Afterwards I went for dinner with the girls which was unplanned, and I had a beer! On a monday! I was good with food and got the healthy salad, lettuces, peppers, tomatoes, orange slices, grapes and chicken breast (plus a citrus vinagrette i didn't eat)

But i got home late (well 10pm) and didn't get to the store so I had no breakfast or lunch stuff to prepare! It's funny, getting lunch is not a problem (salad) but for breakfast it is tough.. what do people buy for breakfast on the run if trying to not eat bread or added sugar?!

hey minime!

looks like you are doing great! very cool about getting a job- but it is tough when you don't get along with your manager.

glad to see you sticking with crossfit, you've come such a long way. i remember when you couldn't do a pull-up and now you are doing weighted chins! great work!

hey gymgirl, thanks for stopping in! Great to hear from you!

sounds like you are leading a busy life right now!

Yes, I am still loving the crossfit! Well most of the time anyway

I am in pain today from the 50s... that workout always gives me the worst pain the next day! Everywhere it hurts.

the boarding was not the best seraph! We went to Wildcat mountain on Saturday, slushy, huge moguls, large patches of grass/rock showing through... but we still had fun! On sunday we drove up to Sunday River in Maine for their free day, it sucked! Raining, foggy etc. but hubby enjoyed the jumps in the snowboard park.

even though Sunday River sucked though, it was worth the trip as they had a 50% off sale! I got a new Burton board, bindings, a great helmet, socks etc. Erik got a pair of skis, a board-holding backpack and a balaclava and the whole lot came to only $700

I had been eyeing that same board (it is this years luxe model) at another store but luckily did not buy it!

It was big spending weekend for us as I also bought a pair of Hiking boots at EMS for 100 (reduced from 170) which are heavy and horribly uncomfortable! I am told they will loosen up and feel good after a while.. I am just not used to something being laced tightly around my ankles! Now we just have to do some hiking..

Tuesday April 29th
Warmup CFWUx2, handstands, shoulder dislocates, ohs 33x10

Overhead Squat 5x5
45-50-55-50-50

Running 5km (3.12 mile) on treadmill 24:43

happy with ohs, 55x1 was one of my goals I think, and getting it by 5 is much better! I am definitely improving on these. Terribly disappointed in my run time, but I barely got myself onto the treadmill, and then I was so worried I would quit (my mind was weak today) that I kept the speed down to a reasonable level. It kicked my butt too, I was drenched in sweat and lightheaded when I finished! Clearly I need to work on my running.

Happy enough that I even finished though, by the time I got to the gym my entire body was in pain from the 50s. Everything was sore! The warmup killed me and I couldn't do even 10 kip pullups in a row.

Today I feel like I was hit by a truck. Walking hurts. My calves are super sore.

I was considering a day off, but then the workout is mostly upper body related.. so maybe I will go. I will see how I feel later.

Good job on the OHS. Keep doing shoulder dislocates or, better yet, shoulder dislocates/OHS combo and your weighted OHS performance will continue to improve.

I can relate to the rest of your workout. I felt that way several days last week. I think you need a pint of Ben & Jerry's ice cream to solve the problem. Have Erik massage your sore body while you eat it.

thanks for stopping by pierini! I thought my OHS would never improve but I guess I was wrong! It is a slow process though.

Mmm ben and jerry's sounds good, not the low fat stuff either, I want a pint of the good stuff! Maybe 1500 calories of icecream is just what i need! Lol. My tummy would not forgive me easily for that dairy/sugar onslaught.

I am going to mexico in less than a week, at which time I will be indulging in whatever my heart and/or body desires, I suspect breakfast buffets will be a daily occurence, as will dessert & beer. Hopefully upon returning i will become a PR machine!

thanks seraph, now (or summer) is a good time to pick up a board on sale, there are some good deals to be had. Board for my size is not so easy to come by (i was on a 142 my new one is 139) so I consider myself lucky to have picked up a nice one for under $200

glad I board and not ski... it is so much more expensive for ski equipment.

Yesterday took a rest day, it was forced upon me by my almost non-functional legs. I slept almost 9 hours last night and woke up wanting even more. But alas, I had to go to work.

Legs are still sore but manageable, plan to do yesterdays WOD (scaled to 45#) today.

Thursday May 1st
Warmup CFWUX2 (minus kips!)
strict pullups 6(PR!), 4
strict chinups 7(PR!), 4

WOD
AMRAP in 20 minutes of
45# thruster x10
10 pullups

10 rounds even

Delighted with pullups/chinups!! woohoo! I am beginning to think 10 before the year is out may be a possibility! Even though my max pullup is not a high number, when I get down from the bar I feel lightheaded and my heart is pumping like I just completed a WOD! weird.

WOD went ok I guess, my thrusters got some good practice (i was working on my hip drive) but I was moving too slowly. I thought 12 rounds would be easy, but to get 10 even I had to really hustle on that last round!

My wrist hurts today. Also I have a piece of skin peeling off my hand which hurts.

And today is murph, which I have never completed and really want to. But it will require:
a)taping of my hand
b)co-operartive shoulders and
c)at least an hour

fingers crossed!
