thanks gymgirl! yes, christine is harder than it looks, i was decieved
seraph sorry but I didn't do it! It looks horrible though, I can't do l-pullups OR HSPU so I am pretty sure I would have sucked!
Friday January 18th Rest day from gym, got to the mountain with an hour to board.. took 4 shorter runs as we were informed that conditions at the top were pretty bad. Actual downhill mileage about 4 or 5 miles.
Saturday January 19th Full day of snowboarding (was on first lift at 8:30), which for me involves taking lots of rest due to my stupid weak legs haha. Total downhill mileage about 22 miles which is the most time I've ever logged on the slope so I was happy (but very tired)
Sunday January 20th Arrived late, about 10am but still got a pretty good day in. My legs were tired though and I had no endurance. However I felt great on the slope! total mileage 15 miles
I know it seems like a funny way to log snowboarding using miles, but I want to see how long it is before my legs become adapted and I can stay out pretty much non-stop. My legs get tired so quickly now that I take the 3 mile run from the top most of the time, I am slow and inefficient so this usually takes me a full thirty minutes to complete. My last run on saturday took me about 45 minutes as I had to stop every few minutes! My legs were giving out on me and i couldn't keep them bent, resulting in me falling over repeatedly
Monday January 21st
Crossfit Elements class:
CFWU
5 minutes jump rope
5 minutes "cindy" 5 rounds
Press, push press and push jerk practice
HSPU practice
Strict pullup practice
I woke up in pain today from snowboarding but felt fine by the time class came round. I did feel quite drained though, and weak. Could only get 2 strict pull up today, did not have 3 in me. My mini-cindy was an improvement on last time we did it but it felt ugly and my push ups became a bit 'dishonest' the last two rounds.
I missed a whole cycle of crossfit WODs but I just have to get used to that. I don't know how anybody could workout AND snowboard all day, I just would not be able to do it!

hey j2bryson! yes the boarding is a great workout for me right now! I do love to run in the summer, there are some beautiful routes around the charles river. I am no record breaker by any means, nor am I a marathoner. I like to run shorter distances. Last summer I ran my first 5k in 22:12 which i am hoping to beat this year. I would like to be able to run a sub 20 minute 5k some day!
I plan to up my running mileage once the warm weather comes back. I dislike treadmills for anything longer than one mile and I am too scared to run outside when it is icy. I still will run the occasional 5km on a treadmill but I hate every second

Tuesday January 22nd
Warmup CFWU, OHS to 33#
Strict Pullups bw+15 5 singles
bw 5 singles
jump with slow negative x5
WOD
21-15-9 rep rounds of
Sumo Deadlift High Pull 53#
Knees to Elbows
7:52 (PR)
Rowing 1000m in 4:47 (PR)
Running on treadmill for 10minutes, 1.3 miles completed
Last time I did this WOD it took me 12:30 with the same weight. Next time I will use the Rx'd 65# but last night I felt weak and crappy and I couldn't face it. although I got two PRs in this workout, I felt poor throughout and the pullups sucked.
I think my body is trying to tell me something.. 'LEAVE ME ALONE' lol. I am going to take a rest day today, I need to remember that although I took 3 days off from the gym they weren't really REST days as I was snowboarding! I was hoping i could hold out today and tomorrow and then just take friday off but I think I need to listen to my body. I will take today AND friday

Obey your body and enjoy the rest. Note to myself: listen to myself.

good work on the PRs. funny thing you've decided to take today and friday off. i woke up feeling really sick and decided to do the same. i'm hoping the rest is just what my body needs.
i really enjoy running in the summer when it's so nice outside. I can't stand the treadmill but it's an ok substitute for the winter. I'd also really love to get sub 20 for a 5km, not sure when that can happen though. we'll see how this season progresses and take it from there.
enjoy your rest!

thanks j2bryson and JDR! I enjoyed my rest day for sure!
Thursday January 24th
Warmup CFWU, Jump rope practice (got 10 DU in a row)
"WOW"
5 rounds for max weight of:
5 Press
5 Push Press
5 Thrusters or Jerks
Rest between rounds but not during.
33-45-55(fail on 4th jerk)-50-45
Deadlift 5x5
95-115-135-145-145
Pullups 10 strict, mostly singles
The WOW (workout of the week at my gym) was horrific! my jerks were just plain ugly, after round 3 I switched to thrusters which were better but still awful. I am a weakling! Deadlifts and pullups were done in rest periods, hence the poor performance.
Was going to do the 400s from yesterday on the treadmill but I took a gentle yoga class instead. I figured my body needed stretching more than sprints! It felt great, I feel an inch taller after these classes.

Thanks seraph!
Friday January 25th
Rest day. i came to stay with my sis in law and put post-it notes around her house to motivate her to exercise ("10 pushups" etc) However it seemed I was the only one heeding the notes and I think I did about 50 each of pushups situps and squats. I studiously ignored the "10 burpees" sign though every time I passed it
Saturday January 26th
Managed to get sis and her fiance to the local gym which was reasonable in terms of equipment. No proper pullup bar, no bumper plate and no squat rack but generally pretty good. i tried to show them to squat and DL with a 20# bar but my attempts were futile ("it hurts my knee" "my leg is spasming") so i let them hit the machines while i did some deadlifts (even though I did DL thursday I just really felt like doing them again)
Warmup CFWU, deadlift warmup
Deadlifts
135x10
155x3
155x3
165x5 (PR)
195x1 (PR)
200x1 (PR)
Running
800m warmup at 7mph
1 mile timed run in 5:55 (PR)
Rowing
500m in 2:12 (ties PR)
250m in 1:05 (could not commit, tired)
Comments WOWEEEE! I don't know what was up with me today but I was a PR machine! i did the set of 10 DL and planned a 3x3 at 155 to finish but they felt so darn good I couldn't stop. Seriously if my back hadn't been fatigued I could have handled more than 200 easily. HOWEVER I am worried that because it was a different gym perhaps their plates are not exactly the right weight. So I am calling tentative PRs for now until I can recheck at my own gym.
Felt pretty damn good to pick up 200# though, I hope it was 'real'
Run felt awesome also, as did rows (except i was tired, i could have gotten a faster time I bet)
OK so maybe the plates/treadmills at this other gym are underweight/underfast ha ha or else it is due to the copious amounts of food I have been ingesting. Maybe ditching the zone diet was the best thing i could have done. I think I have been eating 2000 or more cals the last few days (mostly clean) and I feel great.
I feel great! I am still on a high from that Deadlift.

That's awesome minime. I think the PR will stick once you complete your due diligence.
It was the combo of being well-rested, well-fed, and a different training environment which contributed to you thinking past your normal limits.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
