"nice work j! that's a great time. I have either this or Eva in store for me tonight... I am obviously leaning toward this one instead of the horrible eva!"

from j2bryson's journal.

no you have to do eva and suffer like the rest of us.

hey talia, glad to hear you are feeling better!

Seraph you will be happy to know I DID suck it up and do eva after all.. though it almost killed me!

Tuesday February 26th

Warmup CFWUx1, shoulder dislocates

"Eva"

5 rounds for time of:
800m run
Kettlebell Swing 2 pood
Pull up

50:52

I used one pood and did 20/10 kipping/jumping pullups to save my grip. My hands were still fried by the end and now I have peices of skin falling off them but it was worth it! I have to say the sense of accomplishment I got from finishing this was great (well after I no longer felt I would pass out)

Runs at 8mph became 7mph half way through round four. From the middle of round three onwards I felt like pukie was just around the corner. It slowed my down somewhat as I had to keep taking breaks!

i got 20 swings in a row in round one which is the most in a row I've gotten with one pood. Also this (100) is the most kipping pullups I have ever done in one day. Yippee for me!

I did four strict pullups in my warmup, but I had a little kick at the end of number four to get over the bar... still though it felt great!

oh forgot to say, huge props to my friend Chris who pushed through and finished all five rounds of this workout with 12kg KB and ring rows. I thought she would quit after three but she finished with a time of 54:05

We put it on the board to encourage others to do it.. Apparently even Steve (trainer) said he isn't doing it because it is crazy, but if we did it then the boys will have to follow suit!

my hands have never hurt so much

good stuff on the pull ups and the runs! I hate doing crossfits with runs in them, I usually substitute them for something else, and I think that's ok cuz I'm trying to bulk so I dont wan't to do too much cardio. and the pull ups, way to go through the pain, I don't think I could do that.

hey nadia, great to 'see' you! I keep tabs on your workouts anyhow on the crossfit board but it is nice to see you around here. You are kicking a$$ as always!

Thanks 'brysons'! Eva was killer I am so not looking to do that again any time soon. I have never felt such hand pain, even washing my hands hurts! Hey kate you can't be subbing for runs now, that is cheating!! It is all about doing what you hate the most, the most! If you hate running you should be doing it all the more to get better at it!

Crossfit class tonight and boy was I glad to see that steve was going with yesterdays WOD as I really couldn't have done anything with pullups in it! I couldn't do more than 2 kips in the warmup due to pain. I need to get some good gloves or something, its not just the pain, my hands look hideous.

Wednesday February 27th

Warmup 3 minutes of jump rope, few pullups, ring dip & handstand practice

WOD
5 rounds for time of:
400m run
50 squats
30 back extensions

25:24

Boo hiss, was mega disappointed with my time : there were just three of us in class and I finished 8 minutes before the others, but I was still bummed. I was hoping for closer to the 20 minute mark. Steve had an eagle eye on the back extensions though and was refusing to let me compromise on ROM resulting in them being extra hard (that last inch or so at the top position = ouch) Runs at 9mph for the most part, 10 for parts but couldn't maintain it.

This was killer after eva yesterday, I am sick of the 'Dreadmill'

Went shopping today for work clothes, though I don't have to wear a suit I do have to look generally presentable and I own nothing to that effect! I live in jeans or gym clothes right now so I hit up H&M and Marshalls where I found some cute stuff. Buying a bunch of clothes in one go is expensive though, even when you are shopping in cheap places! Jeez I wouldn't want to be buying my work wardrobe in Lord & taylors. I spent 200 dollars today and I still don't have nearly enough. Maybe enough for a weeks outfits.

I got a nice skirt in Marshalls that was 'Jones New York' brand and had a $99 price tag on it, the Marshalls price was $30 so I feel I got a good deal. It feels nice and is black so will go with everything.

OK enough clothing babble I am sure any man reading this has already fallen asleep lol

I'm hungry (again)

lol, always an interesting read mm

8 minutes before the rest is pretty good i'd say! no need to be upset with that time, especially right after eva.

200$ and a weeks worth of clothes, i'm impressed. I need to learn how to shop more efficiently. I have a q for you actually, do you attend an 'official' (if others exist?) CF gym? I was looking into ones in the area I'm going to be moving too and they're sooooooooo expensive. Is this typical?

hey j2bryson! Yes the gym I go to is an official crossfit affiliate, though it is unusual in that it is also a regular gym (they just have a crossfit room and crossfit classes 3x a week) I pay quite a lot, i think $900 for the year is what I paid. Crossfit Boston which is a dedicated crossfit gym charges $200 a month which is quite expensive i think!

I like my gym as I have the freedom to work out alone or at any time of the day, I don't HAVE to go to class to do crossfit (which is often the case i think)

Today I agreed to go to a 'hip hop' dance class with Chris, it was quite embarrassing as expected but i guess I didn't do too bad! It was fun, but not a great workout really, I wasn't sure what to expect so I didn't do crossfit beforehand, but I could have.

Thursday February 28th
Warmup CFWU, Shoulder dislocates, ring dip practice
Hang power snatch practice with 33#
Strict pullups/chinups 15 (most reps was 3)

Bench Press
45x10
65x10
75x10
80x7

Bent Over Row

50x10
60x10x2
70x10

Hip Hop class 1hr

I had urges afterward to go do today's crossfit WOD but fought it! My back is sore from the last couple of days, all those KB swings, then 150 honest back extensions... I just didn't feel like doing 70 SDHP would be a good idea. Plus I had already been in the gym for 2 hours and I felt going back would be the actions of a crazy person!

thanks. The one I was looking at was definitely on the higher price end, closer to 200. I wonder why it's so expensive. At this point I can't really afford that, I guess maybe when I'm full time and no longer a student I can re evaluate. I imagine some encouragement during the WODs would be nice

that's funny about the hip hop class. I've had friends try to tell me how they're such a great workout before. :P ...and I think it's good that you went home afterwards.
