You're at 200 now? Damn man, I gotta catch up. I'm gonna try and hit 190 by the end of the year.

Skinny eh? 160 lbs @ 5'8?...that would make me a skeleton when I was 140 lbs @ 5'9 But still, thats awesome! 40 lbs of extra muscle! When was the last time you posted some progress pictures?

mav...I thought you didn't like being 190-200? You should have plenty of time to catch up, I don't plan on gaining any weight, just losing some when spring rolls around.

doy...lol not quite 40 lbs of muscle, but the LBM is definitely getting up there. Never posted progress pics and don't plan to either

seraph...thanks bro, I do try to give everyone encouragement, I know how much it means just to see someone else appreciate the work you've done. As always, thanks for supporting me

make no mistake - no matter what i *say*, your entries usually impress me all to hell.

except when you're doing something stupid like working an injured ham.

but that's okay, cause then i get to have fun at your expense!

I didn't like being at 190-200 the way I did it. I went too fast and was bulking too heavy (4000+ cals/day) with no cardio. I put on 29 pounds in 11 weeks (162-191) with some obviously being carbing up and creatine supplementation. Motivational for little guys, but man did I feel slow. My metabolism was so high and I needed so many calories to grow and maintain that when I decided to cut back a bit, I was actually losing a pound a week at 3000 cals/day!

Right now I feel very comfortable and light on my feet at 185 (BF% 8-10 I would guess). 190 done responsibly and patiently should be no problem.

They work man. It's a suggestion from Big Clay tod o higher reps on them with lighter weight.

I usually do 1 set of 30, at least that's hwat i been doing the last month. After one set of 30 for as heavy as i can get (300lbs), my traps are fried.
I know this is old, but I just noticed it, and it just happens to be something I wanted to know about. How the hell do you hold 300 pounds to get 30 reps? I mean, I did db shrugs the other day for fun with 100 lb dbs, and I lost it at like 15, how do you keep your form for such a long set like that?

mav...sounds like a plan man Except I've done all my bulking with foods, not with creatine I bet if I ever take it, my strength would explode.

rangers...just use mixed grip and hold on tight. You do grip work? Static holds help a lot in situations like that. If can use chalk, do it. None of my gyms allow it however. 300lb shrugs are light to Dave, that's how he kept his form I imagine. (don't ask me how 300 lb shrugs are light lol)

SPEED BENCH, Wednesday, November 23, 2005
Speed Bench 10 x 45 lbs, 5 x 95 lbs, 3 x 115 lbs, 9 sets of 3 @ 120 lbs
Seated DB Press 9 x 55 lbs, 10 x 55 lbs, 5 x 60 lbs
Lateral Raises 6 x 35 lbs, 6 x 40 lbs
Front Raises 6 x 45 lbs
Face Pulls 15 x 150 lbs

Notes: At home, so my local gym everything feels different. DBs seem heavier. Frist time ever using 40s for lat raises and 45s for fronts. Used slight cheating on the 40s, but will definitely improve over time because 35s are easy. 45s for front raises no cheating and very tough. Gotta work on these.

Dude you are huge now! And I don't mean fat.

I'm late with this, but hella nice job on the bench last time out. Two plates will never psyche you out again.

Thanks Jason I ran into an old high school buddy today I used to run track with. He immediately said I look a lot bigger and that my arms were huge. Made me feel pretty good, even though I don't feel very big, just normal.

Dude 40 pounds in just over a year; how can people not mention that you look bigger. How do you think you were able to gain so much weight? Could your metabolism have slowed down as well? At this point are you trying to cut weight or maintain but with more definition?

Anyways just wanted to give you props as well. You've been putting up some great numbers.

If I want to gain or lose weight, I need to change my diet DRASTICALLY. I can basically eat whatever I want and maintain weight. To gain all those pounds I ate a RIDICULOUS amount of food, to the point of sickness at almost every meal (4-6 a day). It was almost all chicken, milk, beef, and cottage cheese though. Right now I don't want to get any heavier than right around 200. I'd actually like to get back to 195, which I'll probably do when spring comes around. I imagine I can get there if I just keep up my cardio a few times a week and cut out crap from my diet.

I can sympathize. I need to eat upwards of 3600 cals/day to grow at all. Eating that CLEAN makes me feel like bursting! Plus, cardio has to go out the door, it's be impossible with cardio. A blessing and a curse I guess.
