Andy...I might try lowering the weight and doing some higher reps, but I also wouldn't mind going heavier on barbell which I haven't done in awhile. The DB OHP's are not difficult except for getting them into position and the first rep from a deep bottom. I can't get as much out of the exercise though when I use so much energy to position them lol. I'll try lighter DBs next week and go from there as long as I remember.
Stang...yeah I usually have a spotter. I honestly don't know what my current 1RM is on bench, 235 was a while ago, I could probably do more now, but who knows. I am/was doing the reverse pyramid, which is 12, 10, 8, 6, 3. That's why the "warm up" as I call it was so intense. Normally I'd do something with much, much less volume. I'm hoping this higher rep work for a few weeks was able to jolt my system past the plateau I was previously at with flat bench. We'll see next week! By the way, congrats on the new 5RM :

Oh yeah, I remember running into that now. I had the same problem when doing DB's after BB work for the same lift. I could press more than I could position. Finally I had to drop them because I had no spotter to lift them into place for me.

Exactly lol. Overhead pressing is not one of my main staples, so I don't feel too bad mixing it up when I have to.

Seated Calf Raises 4x8
Squats 8x45, 5x135, 3x185, 3x225, 1x275, 3x3 @ 315
DB Rows 15x60, 15x60
DB Shrugs 20x80
SLDLs 8x185, 8x205
Notes: I showed up at the gym at 4pm, way too crowded so I just left. Carbed up and returned around 8pm for a phenomenal lift. Dare I say the 315s were easy? I had more in me, they were not nearly as tough as I thought they would be. Crushed the rows, even though I hate high rep work. Shrugs were easy and stiff legs shot up, too. I was definitely pumped and ready for this workout.

Flat Bench 8x45, 6x95, 4x135, 2x185, 6 singles @ 225
Dips BW+25x6, BW+25x6, BW+25x6
Side Raises 12x30, 12x30
Notes: I'll be doing singles for hopefully a few weeks before progress stops. 225 felt heavy, but the reps went up smooth for the most part. I haven't done heavy work in a number of weeks so I figured it'd be tough moving back to heavier weights. It was crowded and I didn't feel like overworking my shoulders so I cut out overhead presses.

Looks good greg and those singles should be helpful. You'll at least get the feeling of heavier weight. Just dont psych yourself out and you'll be fine. :

I'm hoping this singles cycle will get me past my mental block that 225 is heavy. I have to get energized for my next bench day and nail the 230s to build some confidence.
