haha you always have videos. It was my first time doing static holds so go easy! First light sets were a warm up. And actually I do deadlift with double overhand. I use straps though. I can only get up to around 305-310 for 6 reps with a mixed grip/no straps. The straps tend to slip if you do mixed, so double overhand is the way I prefer

The straps SLIP? You got them on wrong? lol. When i was using them they never slipped and i was doing 365-375. You should always wrap the straps around the opposite way your fingers are curling around the bar which means when your palm is facing up, the strap wraps around the bar forward (over top the bar and down around. Make sure they are real tight before you start. Slipping, that's weird. K, if you knew how to put straps on, didn't mean to insult your intelligence lol.
Videos are the best way to get a point across. Picture's worth a thousand words man . Notice they are all lifting huge weights too?
Why do you need a warmup for your grip when you just deadlifted? YOu still gotta hold that bar pretty tight man !

First of all, I know how to use straps lol. The trouble with mixed was that I'd tighten one hand, then the other (because it's opposite) would tend to loosen the other side as I tightened it/twisted the bar. I haven't used mixed grip with straps since my first week or two, so it might be different now (plus straps are broken in). I watched a guy do 7 x 700 lbs DL with double overhand like I do. Also by slip, I meant they both weren't completely 100% snug.
And static holds were the day BEFORE deadlifts.

The 700x7 video is sick, that guy looks like a complete boar. Why are you using a mixed grip with straps, when you deadlift double overhand? When I use straps I like to go double overhand, when I don't have chalk or straps I use mixed grip.

I like mixed grip all the time other than for SLDLs' or shrugs. Then i use overhand. By the way< I think it was a strongman comeptition, i saw someone use straps with mixed grip , so i ain't the only one. If it wasn't strongman, it was something like it.
Byt he way, didn't mean to insult ya with the straps sheesh! It's tricky getting both tight.
I dropped the straps as of late too. I need to get some damn chalk!

I've seen people use straps with a mixed grip, I've done it myself. But like gcs said, it's akward to get the straps correct, and might as well do it double overhand since I "like" to lift that way, unless I don't have chalk with me.

I've been reading straps hinder your grip. When I get hardcore and heavy I hope to increase my grip training(looking at grippers and such now), in order to minimize the use of straps.
..actually I'm becoming semi obsessed with grip training for some reason.. been reading about all kinds of stuff and huge forearms, popeye arms baby.

lol wow.
Firehawk, don't be sorry ever to make comments or suggestions, no hard feelings, I just think there was a little misunderstanding. I wasn't offended at all, I appreciated what you said.
abarlament, I only use straps for heavy DLs, double overhand. That is all I use straps for. Otherwise I use a mixed grip (heavy SLDLs) for whatever else. Hope that clears that up lol. Also use mixed on lighter DLs w/o straps.
And for everyone else...I don't want my journal turning into a grip/straps debate!!!!

Should have hot tubbed before the workout - then you would have had the energy to NOT relax.

No way, hot tubbing after a workout is SWEET. I am in college, so the next best thing is adjust the nozzle to shoot the heck out of you, then crank the heat, and viola, instant massage!
