Hey Andy, no sweat about "hijacking" the thread. Ask questions, get answers that's what this place is all about. I learned too so I appreciate it Thanks for the props too, does make the day that much better every time.

CHEST, Saturday, June 18, 2005
Bench Press 5 x 45 lbs, 5 x 95 lbs, 3 x 135 lbs, 1 x 165 lbs, 1 x 185 lbs, 3x3 @ 200 lbs
DB Flat Press 6 x 60 lbs, 6 x 65 lbs, 6 x 65 lbs
Tricep Pushdown (2 handed) 10 x 150 lbs, 10 x 150 lbs
Lateral Raises 8 x 25 lbs, 8 x 25 lbs
Face Pulls 6 x 100 lbs, 15 x 70 lbs
Plate Raises 10 x 35 lbs
Notes: What a day. Failed out on the 6x3 on benching First time repping over 200 lbs though. Hand offs were not strong, probably should have eaten a little more and slept in a bit more, but I'm glad to finally rep over 200. 205 was my previous max, which I hope to rep next week. DB presses were easy, just wobbly. I need to get back in the groove, haven't done them in forever.
First time doing pushdowns, used the whole stack. I'll have to rig up the lat pull down station next time, it goes up to 250 lbs. First time doing face pulls as well. The cable kept pulling me in so I was leaning way back. 100s were easy but I got sucked in lol so I dropped to 70 and just repped it. Felt them instantly...damn do they work good.

On cable stack from high pulley using the ropes, palms face inward and you pull to your face. Your hands go on either side of your head for more ROM as the rope splits around your face. I could really feel it well after these 2 sets, I believe it was the rear delts.

ah, okay - kinda like a double beside-the-head cable pull for lats, sort of thing?

Not quite for the lats, it's for the smaller muscles up higher...I'm pretty sure rear delts but may even hit traps some.

BACK, Monday, June 20, 2005
Deadlifts Off 35s 5 x 45 lbs, 5 x 135 lbs, 3 x 225 lbs, 1 x 275 lbs, 1 x 315 lbs, 5 x 355 lbs, 5 x 355 lbs
BORs 5 x 95 lbs, 3 x 115 lbs, 1 x 135 lbs, 6 x 175 lbs, 6 x 175 lbs
T-Bar Rows (2 sec hold, wider grip) 6 x 115 lbs, 6 x 115 lbs
Hammer Curls 10 x 40 lbs
Notes: Deadlifts were tough today, maybe I should start going up by 5 lbs instead of 10. But then again 365 would be nice. We'll see how strong I feel next week. BORs were definitely heavy, but not unmanagable. Might stay here next week and try for 2x8. Finished off with some hammer curls.

ABS/GRIP, Wednesday, June 22, 2005
Suitcase Deadlifts 8 x 45 lbs, 8 x 95 lbs, 8 x 115 lbs, 6 x 135 lbs
Decline Sit Ups BW+80 x 5, BW+90 x 10
Static Hold (Double Overhand) 20 sec. x 295 lbs
Static Hold (Mixed Grip) 20 sec. x 385 lbs, 20 sec. x 385 lbs
Finger Work
Notes: Couldn't get my grip and balancing the bar down for my 135 suitcase deadlifts, kinda frustrated over that. I was very happy to rep decline sit ups with the 90 lber on me. It was much easier than last week. I think if I had chalk I could dominate the static holds. My forearms aren't giving out at all I've realized, it's just that my hands hurt from the bar sliding down and ripping skin off. Finished off the day with assorted dumbbell and plate work for my fingers.

Nice static holds man. Almost 400 for 20 secs. Do you use a mixed grip when you deadlift or is your grip good enough now to overhand it? Decline situps are pretty wicked too. I'm starting low on mine til I'm POSITIVE that I'm not using my hip flexors.

Hey man your workouts are starting to look really structured and solid. Sort of a transition but you are using a lot more powerlifting movements now then before...

When I deadlift I use mixed grip until my working sets, then I use double overhand with straps. The most I've pulled without straps is 1x405 lbs mixed grip. Otherwise it's 1x430 lbs double overhand with straps. For the decline sit ups, my feet/legs don't move at all, and I really concentrate on using my abs. I stop about an inch or so before laying completely down on the decline bench again, and I think this helps use the abs more.

Thanks Dark. I've considered myself a powerlifter for a short while now, at least a few months. I've been slowly changing my routines more and more. Eventually I hope to have DE/ME days, speed work, etc. but I think I'd lose strength if I switched everything up all of the sudden.
