Straps? And here I thought you were turning pure powerlifter with some of your recent routines.

Static holds are when you load the bar up and just hold it in your hands. It works your forearms/grip. You gotta squeeze pretty hard when the weight gets heavy, especially without chalk.

I'm allowed to use straps in training...just not in meets I do work grip separately though, it's not as if I'm neglecting it. I prefer double overhand for DLs and SLDLs, so I use straps on my working sets for those only.

I'm just messing with you. I'll bet you can pinch the plates that I'd be using to load the bar for deadlifts at this point.

LEGS, Thursday, June 23, 2005
Squats 5 x 45 lbs, 5 x 95 lbs, 5 x 135 lbs, 3 x 185 lbs, 1 x 225 lbs, 1 x 255 lbs, 6 singles @ 285 lbs
SLDLs 3 x 135 lbs, 3 x 185 lbs, 1 x 225 lbs, 1 x 265 lbs, 6 x 290 lbs, 6 x 290 lbs
Notes: Short workout, I'm gonna do singles on squats for a few weeks then probably do some paused work. SLDLs are heavy as hell, I've been going on 3x6 and 2x6 for probably a year now...it's done me well May have to change that up soon too. For the past few days I've just worked out, cut/moved trees, and then worked. Less sleep and a lot less food than normal. Gotta get myself caught up.

Not really man, most of you guys are ahead of me. My only good lift is really my deadlift. Many other people on here can out bench me (Dave, Maverick, Dark), out curl me (Andy, Bob), and I know Jason has stronger shoulders than me. Then you got the cardio guys like pierini or Amanda that I could never compare to. Eric, you've only just started lifting and you're already squatting 6x265. I think you've just about earned yourself the title 'Beast'
Edit: Oh yeah, and Luke's strongman training...I won't even go there lol.

I gotta disagree Greg. I don't think you give yourself enough credit. Everyone has strong points and weak ones. Even on my best day, you could out squat, out deadlift and out stiff leg me, easily! If you don't like the beast title, what would you think about meta-beast? hehe

haha Beast is cool with me, but I just wanted to point out that everbody on here has some great lifts. Bob if you didn't have that sciatica I'm sure you'd be out squatting/deadlifting me by now lol. Props are much appreciated, as always

How true. We all have things that we do well, and things that we don't do so well. It isn't a contest though - some friendly competition to encourage and motivate one another, but still - in the gym - it is our own personal struggle with the iron. To get that next rep, that next pound increase. That's what it is all about.

CHEST, Saturday, June 25, 2005
Bench Press (Pinky On Rings) 5 x 45 lbs, 5 x 95 lbs, 3 x 135 lbs, 1 x 175 lbs, 6 singles @ 210 lbs
DB Flat Press 6 x 65 lbs, 6 x 65 lbs, 6 x 65 lbs
Tricep Pushdown (2 handed) 10 x 150 lbs, 10 x 150 lbs
Lateral Raises 9 x 25 lbs, 9 x 25 lbs
Face Pulls 15 x 80 lbs, 15 x 80 lbs
Plate Raises 10 x 35 lbs
Notes: First time EVER benching over 205 lbs. First rep at 210 went up super easy, others easy but hand off was off so not as perfect. Gains all around today. I'm psyched.
