lol thanks Jason, I can't wait til this heals up for good

pierini...yep chins are back in cycle. I always have one hell of a time progressing with them, so we'll see how the next couple months plays out. They are definitely challenging to say the least.

Nice Greg, great numbers as usual, just watch the hammy. I would love to be able to chin but well, i don't. I am affraid of how people will snicker watching a 235lb. fellow struggle to get the chin over just ONCE. lmao!

Whatever man, just drag a bench under you and do assisted pullups. Somehow I don't think too many people are going to be giving you a hard time given your numbers on most of your lifts.

When was the last time you tried doing chin ups Bob? With some of your numbers on the lat pulldowns and rows, I'd think you could at least do a number of bodyweight chins. I hate chin ups because of the sole fact that I never progress on them. I wouldn't be surprised if my weight or reps didn't go up this whole cycle lol.

It's been quite a while to be honest. If I can remember, it was Oct. or Nov.. I had to have help after the first two. I could do more if I used a nuetral or underhand grip but not wide overhand. I might try em again soon since they are so good.

Well wide grip pull ups (wide overhand) are the hardest lol. Do regular grip chin ups (underhand). Much easier and still work you good.

ABS/GRIP, Wednesday, July 27, 2005
Decline Sit Ups BW x 10, BW+45 x 7, BW+65 x 7, BW+85 x 5, BW+95 x 5
Crunch Machine 10 x 200 lbs, 20 x 160 lbs
Static Holds (Double Overhand) 20 sec. x 315 lbs
Static Holds (Mixed Grip) 15 sec. x 405 lbs, 15 sec. x 405 lbs

Notes: Quick day, I never know what to do for abs or grip anymore. Seems like the only weighted thing for abs is decline sit ups. Don't go hanging leg raises anymore cuz I don't feel like dragging the 60 lb DB all the way upstairs. I've been playing with my gripper so didn't do much extra grip work today either.

what about cable crunches or weighted v-sits?

and, um... maybe playing with your gripper is a little TMI?

have you tried that towel exercise? put a weight on the end of a bath towel spread on the floor, then bring it toward you by rolling up the towel.

you should carry those dumbells upstairs then, that will give you a good mid-section workout :

experiment with fingertip push-ups, and one-arm push-ups and chin-ups great for grip and mid-section.

Hey really nice ab work. I don't know what it works, but carrying those dumbells around definitely is hard. I do it for grip strength. Oh and those static holds - great time on those. They are just plain ole hard to do.

Have you tried kneeling cable crunches from a lat tower? I've replaced my leg raises with them. I can handle more weight with them than with the seated crunches, but they do kick my butt much more. I don't have a crunch machine in my gym.

I LOVE kneeling cable crunches. I don't think I've left them out of an ab workout in months.

three ... what are v-sits?

luke ... hadn't considered one armed stuff before, I might mess around with it but I don't think it'd make for an entire workout. You're right though, carrying the DBs upstairs would be a good workout...it's getting them back down that's the hard part lol.

Andy/mav ... I've done cable crunches before, but the stack I could use only goes to 150, and that isn't enough to go super heavy. Maybe next time I'll just add some oblique work and be content

go to the max-ot website and look up "leg raises". they're not the typical leg raises, where you hang on for dear life and whip your legs high up overhead. they're what i used to know as v-sits.

I did. They don't look too effective to me, and if they are, I don't see how I could add a bunch of weight
