LEGS, Thursday, September 8, 2005
Squats 10 x 45 lbs, 5 x 95 lbs, 5 x 135 lbs, 3 x 185 lbs, 3 x 225 lbs, 3 x 225 lbs
Seated Calf Raises 4 sets of 10

Notes: Did squats today for the first time in weeks. Obviously didn't make my 6x3, but I'm sure I could have. I stopped immediately upon feeling a slight twinge of pain. Otherwise the leg is much better. I tried 2 reps with 135 on SLDLs and the pain was much worse. I'm not going to do deadlifts this week, but I may try squats again next week.

Hmmm, no squats in weeks and still whomping mine - and I only took 9 days off.

Hang in there and keep healing.

Have you bothered to see a doc yet about the hamstring?

I haven't seen a doc yet cuz my dad is one. He gave me anti-inflammatories before and they worked well, but I have been off them for some time.

hon, you might have no choice at all but to put NO - repeat NO, as in NONE, NADA, ZILCH, KEINE, RIEN, NINGUNOS, никакие, and κανένας ! - stress on your hams for a month.

Nice work today. Those tricep pushdowns are tough - that is a lot of weight for those - especially with that much weight. Why do you call it a *****y day?

Bad day cuz I didn't make my bench presses. I don't know if I'm doing the pushdowns right or not, I use a straight bar and move at the elbows, keeping my hands up then pushings til my arms are straight down. Anyway, it was a decent day, just frustrated at my lack of gains for the past couple months.

BORs 10 x 45 lbs, 5 x 95 lbs, 5 x 115 lbs, 3 x 135 lbs, 3 x 155 lbs, 6 x 165 lbs, 6 x 175 lbs
Pull Ups BWx5, 5, 5, 5
Hammer Curls 10 x 35 lbs, 10 x 35 lbs

Lats are tricky bastards. I had to drop weight for a while to really get a feel for how to hit them on those exercises. I've been making gains ever since, so the time spent at a lower weight certainly wasn't wasted. I feel like that "push/pull as much as you can for 6 reps" mentality really limited my back growth. You really need to focus.

Agreed. I was supersetting back and chest today and thought it would be a waste to use the 95 I had set up, but I really got great peak contraction for all of the 10-rep sents with that lighter weight (I was at 155x6 before this light week started).

I've been doing 10x155 and other higher rep sets for a few weeks now, so I thought I'd give it a change of pace. I think some other factor is involved here limiting me...

I doubt it, he can pull over 400 lbs. 175 is probably like picking up a bucket of water for him.
