SPEED BENCH, Wednesday, September 14, 2005
Speed Bench 10 x 45 lbs, 10 x 95 lbs, 10 x 95 lbs, 9 sets of 3 @ 115 lbs (3 diff. grips)
BB Military Press (Standing) 10 x 45 lbs, 9 x 95 lbs, 8 x 95 lbs, 4 x 105 lbs
Lateral Raises 6 x 30 lbs, 6 x 30 lbs
Front Raises 6 x 30 lbs, 6 x 30 lbs
Face Pulls 10 x 100 lbs, 10 x 120 lbs

Notes: Speed bench really takes it out of you in a different way. All speed bench sets 45 sec - 1 min apart. Didn't push all out on MP cuz I haven't done them in many months. Surprised to find 30s light on laterals. Decent day. I keep getting pulled forward on face pulls, any ideas to prevent this? I also know my speed bench warm up sucks but there was no 10s readily available so I made do.

haha yeah 175 feels light, but my lats have trouble rowing it for some reason. Kinda frustrating really. I can't wait to start deadlifting again...I'm gonna tear it UP!

HEAVY BENCH, Sunday, September 18, 2005
Bench Press (Pinkies On Rings) 10 x 45 lbs, 5 x 95 lbs, 3 x 135 lbs, 3 x 155 lbs, 5 x5 @ 175 lbs
Floor Press 7 x 135 lbs, 5 x 135 lbs, 4 x 135 lbs
Tricep Pushdowns 10 x 130 lbs, 3 x 150 lbs
Lateral Raises 10 x 25 lbs
Front Raises 10 x 25 lbs

Notes: I did floor presses in the power rack but it's a good 3 inches too high, it was tough even with a good hand off/help racking. I'm gonna just do close grip bench on the flat bench with my feet up to simulate it the best I can. Decent workout overall, felt like a solid workout.

Thanks Andy, but I feel like I should be doing 185 for reps easily by now. Kinda disappointing, but I know it'll come in time.

Yeah and I thought I'd be doing 200 by now. I'm not even close. We do what we can and enjoy the improvements when they come. You are doing well, keep it up.

BACK, Monday, September 19, 2005
Deadlifts 10 x 45 lbs, 5 x 135 lbs, 3 x 185 lbs, 1 x 225 lbs, 1 x 275 lbs, 1 x 315 lbs, 1 x 365 lbs
Pull Ups BWx6, BWx6, BWx6
Hammer Curls 10 x 40 lbs

Notes: First time doing deadlifts in at least a month, I think 1.5 months. 365 went up surprisingly easy, so strength is still there. Gotta work on stretching a lot more, that's all I did between sets. Slight pain but nothing like it was before. I hate pull ups. And curls to finish off. No BORs cuz my lats were sore from heavy benching yesterday.

Slowly but surely those pull-up reps are creeping upward. If you don't like them, then they must be good for you. Keep pulling!

I hate them cuz I am forced to do close grip reps, and I want to do regular grip pull ups but there is no place at my stupid college rec center. I think someone who has never lifted before put that place together....it's ridiculous!

Well close-grip pull-ups are tougher than regular-grip pull-ups so you are doing better than you think.

Well that's one good thing to hear lol. Once I stop increasing reps, I might just start doing singles with weight for pull ups. And eventually get back to chin ups.

Pretty decent pull for a guy who hasn't deadlifted in 6 weeks. Looks like you're being smart and taking it easy on the volume, which should let your hammy continue to improve as you ease back into it.
