Not a bad day? I'd think that after doing 205 getting an increase to a pair of 75's qualifies as a good day.:

haha you're right, it was a pretty good day, but it's just never good enough. I am happy with today's numbers, but I think it should have felt lighter than it did is all.

BACK, Monday, October 10, 2005
Deadlifts 10 x 45 lbs, 7 x 135 lbs, 3 x 185 lbs, 1 x 225 lbs, 1 x 275 lbs, 1 x 335 lbs, 1 x 385 lbs
Pull Ups BWx9 (close grip), BWx4 (wider grip)
DB Curls 8 x 45 lbs

Notes: I think I might start working with reps after today on the DLs. Hammy was acting up after my 385 pull so I really don't want to keep pushing it if it isn't ready. Any suggestions for DL programs? I'm thinking just doing maybe a 3x3 or 4x3 to get some more work in.

I got my new CoC gripper today...the #1. I was disappointed that it was so easy with the right hand. Left hand is a challenge! The trainer is ridiculously easy after playing with the #1 lol. I love this thing, I can't wait to get the #2 in a few months.

You are getting close to being a "two-digit pullup man". After that you'll be a candidate for a "baker's dozen pullup man". Keep up the good work. The pullup training will spill over and benefit your other training.

SPEED BENCH, Wednesday, October 12, 2005
Speed Bench 10 x 45 lbs, 5 x 85 lbs, 3 x 95 lbs, 1 x 115 lbs, 9 sets of 3 @ 130 lbs (3 diff. grips)
Seated MP 10 x 100 lbs, 10 x 100 lbs, 7 x 110 lbs
Lateral Raises 7 x 35 lbs
Front Raises 7 x 35 lbs
Face Pulls 10 x 130 lbs

Notes: 130 went up pretty damn well, better than the 125s I'd say. I can't wait to use 135 for speed work Improvements all around on shoulder work. Not a bad day at all!

Squats 10 x 45 lbs, 7 x 135 lbs, 5 x 185 lbs, 2 x 225 lbs, 2 x 255 lbs, 1 x 300 lbs
Calf Raise Machine 3 sets of 10

Notes: Starting a new program this week. I'm going to be alternating heavy squats/light deads and heavy deads/light squats. Thanks to Dave for taking his time to write me up a routine. As for today...hammy was hurting like hell. I was going to do a high volume day to give my CNS a break, but after 2x225 I felt like hell. 2x255 was easy, so I went for 300. 300 was a piece of cake, spotter said I should have at least grunted or paused slightly lol. I asked how my depth was and he said "deep." Same response 100% of the time when I ask people

So when you started going heavier it didn't hurt the hamstring as much?

Interesting. Hey, you got to do what you need. If heavy does it for you - terriffic. : The weights are looking pretty huge to me. I can't even begin to imagine 255 or 300 going up easy, heck 225 as far as that goes is pretty heavy to me right now.

You aren't squatting too deep again are you?

Enjoy your young knees while you have them. I remember my "@$$ to floor" days. Richard Nixon was President and gasoline was less than $1 per gallon.

Andy...I think it was going wider and the more warm up sets/reps that made the 300 not painful. You might be surprised what you can do with squats Andy. I did 2 reps at 225 and I was whooped. Yet I still got 300 up. Kinda funny how that is sometimes.

pierini...haha definitely!! My knees have been popping/cracking a little more since I began lifting almost 2 years ago. Every time people tell me I'm going "too deep" I hear the "watch your knees" lecture. I love going deep, but I'd also rather have my knees. One of the guys said he'd watch my lifts and tell me when I hit parallel, but we'll see. Anything I can take to keep my knees/joints good?
