Man it must suck ass to be injured. I dread the day i have to put up with it. I been lucky thus far.

Thought i injured myself saturday on deads. I felt fine but then after i got home my entire back stiffened up somethin fierce, and got worse the next day. Only good thing is i knew it wasn't a skeletal problem or something, just had tightness and soreness int he muscles. WHeW!

i think because i was dehydrated, that really didn't help with the stiffness.

hey, not a bad day. Don't worry about shrugs, no one except a gym moron is gonna care how much you are using for shrugs. Chinups aren't bad after all the work you did before them.

Did you ever have a doctor look at your hamstring? I know how much of a pain in the ass it can be to deal with injuries. A good or bad word from the doc would at least give you a clearer picture of what you're dealing with and how you can get better.

I might stop by my health clinic and have them take a look. I'm getting so pissed off at this, it got injured in July and it's been f*cking with my training ever since.

Thats the same thing with my lower back. It happened in like March or April. If I push it too hard, I'll be laid up in bed and out of the gym for days still. At the very least, it teaches you to respect the weight you are pulling/pushing and keep a hawk-eye on your form.

gcs - def. get that hamstring looked at. when's the last time you took some time off bro? going over your journal lately i see that your not too satisfied w/ your results (not on all your w/o's) maybe some time off could be beneficial. for what it's worth your numbers look great too me, don't forget how far you've come

It just seems like I've taken so much time off from my hammy already that I don't want to do more, but I guess thinking about it, it has been a while since some time off. I might take a week off of squats/deadlifts and continue with benching and such because it still seems to be progressing well. I have too much going on right now to plan time off and consider the after effects so I'm going to stay on autopilot and keep lifting for at least the next week.

It's just that besides being a hassle to make an appointment, they aren't going to tell me anything. They'll tell me to lay off it for a couple weeks. They won't tell me what is really wrong. That's why I keep putting it off.

SPEED BENCH, Wednesday, October 19, 2005
Speed Bench 10 x 45 lbs, 5 x 95 lbs, 3 x 115 lbs, 9 sets of 3 @ 135 lbs (3 diff. grips)
Seated MP 10 x 105 lbs, 10 x 105 lbs, 6 x 115 lbs
Lateral Raises 6 x 35 lbs, 6 x 35 lbs
Front Raises 6 x 35 lbs, 6 x 35 lbs

Notes: 135s did not move too quickly, I might stay here next week or even drop to 130 again depending how I feel. MP's felt solid, almost had 7x115 but couldn't make it. Lateral raises weren't bad, but the front raises with 35s are getting easier. Hopefully soon I'll be using the 40s No face pulls because all of the cable things were taken up and I didn't feel like waiting...

other than the weight issue, how you like the speed thing? 115 MP is nice!

I do like the speed work on the bench, it's fast paced and explosive. I wait about 45 seconds between each set and push as hard and as fast as I can. If we assume my max to be about 235, then 135 is nearing 60% of my max, which is obviously why it went slower today. If 135 doesn't move very quick next week, I'll drop back to 40-50% as Dave suggested.

Nice MP's man. I think I might give the speed benching a try next week.

I do speed work and heavy bench each week, so if you wanna try it I'd at least keep it up for a month or so instead of just a week :

LEGS, Thursday, October 20, 2005
Squats 10 x 45 lbs, 7 x 135 lbs, 3 x 185 lbs, 3 x 225 lbs, 1 x 275 lbs, 1 x 310 lbs
Seated Calf Raises 2 sets of 10, 2 sets of 8

Notes: Put 310 up today. I won't say it was easy, but it wasn't as tough as I thought it would be. 275 was a bitch because it missed the groove in my traps and I almost fell forward. 310 had good form, nice and deep too. I'm going to keep doing singles on squats until I burn out. I know I don't do much other leg work, but I can't with my hammy. When it's better I'll do more. I'm also stopping rack pulls and deadlifts for at least a few weeks.
