ABS/CALVES, Thursday, November 17, 2005
Decline Sit Ups BWx10, BW+60 x 10, BW+85 x 10, BW+100 x 10
Hanging Leg Raises BW+60 x 5, BW+60 x 5
DB Side Bends 10 x 100 lbs
Standing Calf Raise Machine 1 set of 8, 3 sets of 5

Notes: Taking a week off of legs so my squat strength (hopefully) increase with the time off and my hammy gets more time to heal up. Just did some ab/core work because it's been awhile since I did a lot of direct sets. Calves to finish off. Easy lifts all around. I wish my rec had heavier DBs than 100 lbs.

Does your gym have cable towers? I usually do my side bends on there. It makes grip less of an issue too. BTW, those hanging leg raises are pretty sick. I did a 20 today for 8 reps on knee raises and I was hurtin'!

yeah but the cable stacks only go up to 150, and I think the 100 lb DB is heavier. Grip isn't really an issue for me unless I got about 135-150+ in my hand. oh well, these exercises do me good for now

Hold the weight with your arms extended in a line with your body if you're hitting the end of the DB line. It's hard, man. You'll prolly have to drop down quite a few pounds when you try it.

Is it that much harder on the abs? I can give it a shot. But even if my abs can handle it, holding a heavy weight straight out on a decline would be tough and/or scary lol. I know behind the head sucks so I don't do that

I was wondering that myself - If you are referring to your decline situps anyway. I've heard it really makes it tough on the abs that way. I'm still doing it the old way with the dumbell on my chest myself, but people do say that behind the head or held in line with the body does give a whole different kind of pain to ab training.

Kneeling cable crunches are a pretty good way to hit them hard too. I do them from my lat tower, just start out in front of it - facing it on my knees and bend forward, pulling the lat bar down behind my neck and continuing forward until my forehead is down in front of my knees in a kind of islamic prayer position. This really works the abs hard. My little girl calls them moslem crunches when I do them...she want's to do them but I won't let her out of fear she might hurt herself.

I went holding the weight behind the head sucks to do, not a bad exercise. I don't like them cuz I use a 10 lb weight and feel so weak lol.

I know, it seems like you can lay an endless amount of weight across your chest, but move it to the back of your head and a 25 pound plate might as well be a buick!

HEAVY BENCH, Sunday, November 20, 2005
Bench Press (Pinkies On Rings) 10 x 45 lbs, 5 x 95 lbs, 3 x 135 lbs, 1 x 155 lbs, 1 x 185 lbs, 3x3 @ 210 lbs, 1 x 230 lbs
Flat DB Press 6 x 75 lbs, 6 x 75 lbs, 6 x 80 lbs
Tricep Pushdowns 10 x 150 lbs, 10 x 150 lbs
Lateral Raises 15 x 30 lbs
Front Raises 15 x 30 lbs
Face Pulls 15 x 150 lbs

Notes: HUGE PR DAY!! I've never repped over 205 before today, and 225 was previous PR. Never used 80s on DB flat press, but they were easier than 75s! Crushed the lat and front raises. Form a little loose towards end of face pulls, but overall an amazingly good day!

I say you were scared of 2 plates and that held you back, now that you are beyond it you'll keep moving up for awhile. You'll never miss 2 plates again.

Lifting is 90% mental dude.

By the way, how was your handoff man today? lol
