Hi all

My names Sean
Ive 17 years old
Im 6ft 3
My currently weight is 17stone 4 pounds.

My aims are to reduce my weight down to 15 stone, then start to work on a bit of muscle. I would like to feel more confident with myself and hopefully loosing weight shall help with it. Also would like have alot more stamina instead of runnign out of breath in a short time. I've also got asthma so that doesnt help hehe. Hope all yous reading can give me pointers and encourage me to acheive these aims. Here i go

Day one

8am, woke up and had a bowl of crunchy nut cornflakes. then walked to school

(Was meant to get out of school early today so didnt bring home lunch, then art teacher made me stay in till 3:30 to catch up on work grr)

3:30pm Walked home and had a bowl of Special K (Bran type cereal)

4:30pm still felt hungry so had a bowl of crunchy nut cornflakes.

7:30pm Had a bowl of scrambled egg.

Will be renewing my leisure centre membership sometime this week hopefully hehe.

Good luck, Sean. Looks like you're eating like a bird, though. Eat more -- and more often. As in 5-7 small meals a day more. Work in some protein, good fats (unfried fish, olive oil, nuts, etc.) and some fresh veggies to balance out that diet.

And once you re-up your membership, be sure to do both cardio and resistance exercises (weightlifting) for optimal weight loss.

Defenitely start getting some meat and veggies into that diet. Don't live on cereal.

Check out the Diet and Nutrition forum stickies. There's a lot of information there that you should use. You need to get a balance of protein, carbs, and fat at every meal. With your current diet, you are going to be burning a lot of muscle from lack of protein.

Fruit is healthy, but has a lot of sugar. There's no real substitute for veggies. they are low-cal, natural, and filling.

Lots of fruits are high in sugar. Natural sugar (fructose), but still sugar. Definitely eat veggies. Choke them down -- you'll get used to them.

if you do eat fruit, stick with fibrous fruits like apples and anti-oxidant-laden fruits like blueberries. Eat them with a spot of protein and fat (cheese, peanut butter, nuts) to balance out the quick-burning sugars.

Good way to eat fruit is in a smoothie with soy milk, or a shot of protein powder!
