Nitromoose's Journal started 18/08/2003

I've been working out since I was 13 (now 19) but my body just doesn't seem to like me. Or maybe I haven't been training hard enough, or thinking I've been doing it right when I haven't. In any case I am determined to be beautiful...er I mean manly.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
My routine:

MON:
flat bench press, inc bench press, dumb fly
military press, side lateral raise, french press, kickbacks,

WED
chinups, bent over row, bent over raise, barbell curl, concentration curls

FRI
squats, lunges, calf raise

tue, thur, sat = 20 min HIT (walk 1 min/sprint 1 min)
and 3 sets of 25 crunches (weighted)
and 3 sets of oblique crunches

I was doing 3 sets of 10-12 reps of each exercise, but now following Jackal's advice I am going to do 1 set of warmup 10-12 reps, and 2 sets of heavy 4-6 reps. And before I was also running for 30 mins (on the spot..lol..but hey it counts).
---------------------------------------------------------------------
This are pics of me right now: (oh dear)

The trouble is as I go to university soon, my routine will surely change, but I'll have access to a gym hopefully, but I don't think I can go sprinting round the city centre (right now I'm in a village with a huge recreation ground nearby).
----------------------------------------------------------------------
My whole body is aching. Not only do I have shin splints (AGAIN) but my biceps are very sore. And I'm meant to be doing bench press etc tomorrow...terrific. Maybe I should rest, I don't know. But then that mucks up the program.

These shin splints are becoming a real burden. God knows how I'm going to keep up with the sprinting.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
In terms of updating this once again depends on uni (work and so on). I'll only have access to the camera in holidays, so I guess the next pic will be in 3 months or so, but I will continue to update the journal as much as possible.

I have a whole packed of pasta and cornflakes in my cupboard. It seems a shame to waste it, but then it's only gonna keep adding to my problems. I suppose I could use them as 1 cheat meal a week or something.

Today was the worst workout ever. I put the bench press up to 135lbs (still not much better than 100) and just about coped. However when I did the inclined and lowered it to 100, I managed the first set but the second I couldn't even lift it..or rather I could lift 1 side of it and it toppled.

The french and military press I had to put to a pathetic weight of 40lbs.

Flies I just about coped--pathetic weight again: 20 lbs each hand, as with lateral raises (could barely manage 3rd set-and this was only doing 6 reps).

Funny to think as a kid I was seen as one of the strongest, now look at me lol. But I shall not give up!

Diet log

Breakfast: apple. (101 calories)

Lunch: Chicken breaded steak (297 calories)
protein 20.6g, carb 12.9 (of which sugars 1.0g), fat 18.0g (of which saturates 2.3g). sweetcorn (75 calories)

Dinner: same

Bowl of icecream (so sue me) (100 calories)
1.4g protein, 11 g carb, 3 g fat

End of day calorie total: 945 calories

It's the last of that breaded chicken. I've got some plain chicken that I'll use after that has virtually no fat.

Hey Nitro... good luck with the workouts, man.

Your goal is to gain weight (muscle) right? If so, you definately need to double your intake if not more. 945 calories isn't going to do anything but tell your body to hang onto the fat (unless you're like 4'0" and 70 lbs). It looks like you've got the desire, the motivation, the workout, just not the diet. Do some searching around on the forums for Cursor's 2000 calorie diet plans. I don't see your stats posted here (weight, height, etc) but 2000 calories is probably a good starting point. I worked out hard for over a year on less than 1500 calories a day and got nowhere. It sux.

Wolfnatas is right even for losing weight 950 is not even enough for small women to eat. You need to get into the 1700-2100 range..

Chinups---terrible. Did about 5 reps and my arms had had enough. I'm so weak it's funny.

Bent over row and barbell curl I will add weight next week as I did over 10 reps and my aim is 4-6. Bent over raise I managed but only by holding the weights at 45 degrees opposed to 90..that can't be good.

Concentration curl went ok but was a big struggle as my arms were dead from the barbell curl.

Overall..not a gr8 workout I feel. But if I lower the weight anymore it'd be ridiculous. Those dumbells are only 20 lbs.

Well it's a few weeks till I go to uni. Basically I'm going to just have a bad few weeks with my food and just enjoy all the crap I can eat, but once I get there I won't be able to afford to just eat crap and will become stricter with everything...I hope
