gymgirl - thanks for the "off-topic" thread... very cool!

It's been really busy lately with all the baseball games both boys are playing right now and JDR3 is also coaching my youngest sons' All-Star team. Oldest son played a double-header today (won 1 / lost 1) and Youngest will play another All-Star game tomorrow. Fun Stuff!

Weather has backed off to 90's which are much better than the 100's... ;0)

7/7/07 - eliptical
10,880 strides, @ level 6 resistance and level 6 incline = 1000 calories.

7/10 - Decided it was time to go buy new running shoes today so I can start getting in some mileage outside. While I have been logging eliptical time, there is nothing like pounding the pavement.

5:30 pm - 4 mile run/walk with my dog, Riley, on big rolling hills (53:12 time) not great time, but 4 miles just the same. I use a GARMIN to help track time/miles (love this toy).

3 sets of 25 crunches on the stability ball.
3 sets of 15 squats

Still "milking" my birthday and had lunch with my mom and oldest brother.... gotta love it!

Nice run. There's nothing like the hills of El Dorado Hills for some great and challenging runs. Some of the great paths are no longer around due to the residential development, but many pleasant memories remain.

I like what I call the reverse EDH Blvd. loop. Start at the high school and go west on Harvard towards EDH Blvd. Turn left at the Blvd. and all the way down to Serrano. Left on Serrano and take the long climb, either on the road or the walkers path, all the way to Silva Valley. Left on Silva Valley and back to the starting point. A little over 4 miles and a great challenge.

7/11 - same 4 mile run/walk with my dog on the same path. It didn't feel any easier but i did shave some time off (52:43).

pierini - great suggestion for the run. That path has a serious hill but the view of the golf course makes it worthwhile.... I am going to tackle it this weekend.

7/12 - rest day

7/13 - "Friday the 13th" is always a special day that JDR3 and I enjoy together. We make it a point to take ALL "Friday 13th's" off from work to celebrate the date we became engaged (the day before valentines). Every year we look at the calendar to plan how many days we get to celebrate and then we go on a "date". Lots of fun and our 2 sons know this is our special day. Very Cool!

We took a trip to Lake Tahoe which is only 1.5 hour drive from our house (aren't we lucky). It was a perfect day around 85 degrees, clear skies and clear blue water. The water is so clear that when we were wading in it we could see a crawdad that actually pinched JDR3's big toe (LOL). We started off on the North side of the Lake and drove around to the South shore where there is more tourism and casino's.

We drove around the lake to see if the recent fire had done much damage, but thank goodness it didn't get that close to all the beautiful sites. We stopped off at Emerald Bay where the water is clear but is actually the color of an emerald (FABULOUS!) and has a couple of waterfalls that top off the experience.

On the South side we ate at a local pub that has the "best" food and where I know the bartender (Female) whom I visit every year with my girlfriends on our annual retreat.

On to the casino's where I played slots and blackjack....JDR3 played "Texas Hold-em' and Omaha" (total winnings were $40, but gambled for ~4 hours). We had forgotten that the celebrity golf tournament was going on until JDR3 sat at the table next to Don Cheadle (the actor from Ocean's 11, 12 and 13). And to think the "paparazzi" was there for us (LOL).

We wrapped the evening by stopping at a friends place. They have a terrific place right on the water where we sat out on the deck around a fire-pit. Great company, conversation and laughs.

7/14 - short work-out and then off to a family BBQ at my brother's house.

5500 precor strides @ varying incline, level 6 resistance = 500 calories.

BBQ at my brothers house was a great time for adults and kids. Kids played wiffle ball, poker and swam. Adults umpired the wiffle ball game, soaked feet in the pool and played cards. Great visit with my mom, 2 (of 4 brothers), niece and nephew.
