7/20 - 7:00 am outside
4 mile run on rolling hills (Silva Valley Parkway) with my neighbor.
30 mile walk / talk for cool down.
Stretches before and after.

Decided to get my neighbor to start running with me again. She has been a jogger / runner for many, many, many years and we used to run regularly together when I trained and ran a marathon about 10 years ago. We have decided to do 2 days a week in the mornings before work and see where it takes us. Today felt really great!

12:00 No0n- Went back to my Weight Watchers meeting to get weighed in and back on track to start loosing some more lbs. This was a good wake up call because in the time I had been away from my meetings I gained 10 lbs back. I still exercised,so I thought I was doing ok, but my eating was terrible which is why I am overweight to begin with. I obviously didn't change my habits. Feels good to be back to my WW meetings.

5:00 PM - 2.8 mile walk, rolling hills with my dog Riley.

Get conditioned, then join me for the Run to Feed the Hungry 10k on Thanksgiving Day. It will draw about 17,000 runners and it's a great way to work up a serious appetite for Thanksgiving Day dinner.

Let me know if you'd like some help drawing up a training plan.

Pierini - I'll check in with JDR3 when he returns this weekend, but the 10K on Turkey day sounds interesting. Even if we aren't available on T-giving, I think both JDR3 and I would appreciate your input on how you work up to the 10K.

9:00 am.
25 rounds of stairs (3 tiers = 10 steps / 13 steps / 12 steps = 35 steps total)
1 mile brisk walk

*NOTE: I took my dog Riley to the local middle school for some Frisbee and decided to run the concrete stairs that had 35 total steps to the top / 35 down. Riley stayed with me every step of the way and we were both "panting" by the end. I was thankful for the hand-rail. Then decided to cool-down with a brisk 1 walk ..... my legs felt like jello. Good work-out. I think I will incorporate these steps in my routine more often.... especially since I take my dog to the school a couple times a week... might as well get a work-out in at the same time.

3:00 pm
100 sit-ups (traditional style - floor with feet anchored under couch)
100 push ups (from knees)
100 butt-ups
Stretching and some Pilate's moves for ~ 30 minutes

*my core is really sloppy and weak.

4:00 pm
light swim in the pool for cool down

Great day of activity in 90+ degree weather.

7/27 - 4 mile run with my dog, Riley and neighbor.

* Took my 17 year old son for his Sr. Portrait and then off to Lake Tahoe (the Keys) for a weekend of boating, jet ski's and smores with friends / family.

7/28 - Jet Ski for ~ 1 hour, swam in the "Very" cold water and a bike ride throughout the streets of the Tahoe Keys for ~1 hour.

7/29 - Jet Ski with JDR3 for a couple hours in the morning. Cruised Emerald Bay where the water is a green and clear as an Emerald.... maybe the most beautiful place on earth. 5 mile bike ride in the mid-morning on off-road trails.

7/30 & 7/31 - no workouts.

You and your neighbor get up early and do a 4 mile run, then gotta go to work or do house chores. Riley gets to nap all day.

Sometimes I think it would be cool to be a dog. Run, eat, take a dump, then nap over and over, all day long.

Minime... the mini vacation was a blast. Now we get to do it again this week. JDR3, the boys and I are headed back up to Lake Tahoe for 4 more days. We are so fortunate to live 1.5 hours away from one of the most beautiful places on earth. The Lake is clear blue and the scenery is majestic. Lots of outdoor activities and R&R on the beach. One last mini-vacation before our boys start back to school in another week (aug 13th).

Pierini - our dog, named Riley.... just for that reason... she is spoiled, catered to and "lives the life of Riley". She really likes getting out for these runs in the morning. Right now I am only doing 2 days, but once the boys get back to school I may add a 3rd during the weekday morning. I feel great when I am done and the work day doesn't seem so much like work when I get my work-out in early. I keep telling myself that I used to be a runner... and can be again is that's what I choose to do. Right now... I am enjoying getting out early for my exercise and making "me" a priority for a change.

8/3 - 6:45 A.M. --- 4 mile run with my dog Riley and neighbor.....;0)

8/3 7:00 am - 4 mile run with neighbor and dog Riley.

8/4 - 10,685 precor strides, varying incline 1-17, level 6 resistance = 1000 calories.

8/5 - 10,708 precor strides, varying incline 1-17, level 6 resistance = 1000 calories.

8/6 - planned on hiking the waterfall at Emerald Bay, Lake Tahoe; however when we got to the falls the place was packed!!! ... on a Monday!!! I guess all the other families in the world (so it seemed) decided to go to the same spot in Lake Tahoe to hike the waterfall. Since we couldn't even get a parking place (after circling for awhile) we decided to go ahead to the Hotel and try again another day during the week.

8/7 10 mile bike ride with JDR3 and my youngest son (from King's Beach to Cornelian Bay and back). Lounged on the beach, read a book, played yahtzee and cannasta with JDR3 and the boys. Ice Cream and lots of eating out. Played minature golf and pinball (my favorite) in the local arcade. Jacuzzi'd, yahtzee and cards.

8/8 8:45 AM - rafted down the Truckee River from Tahoe City with JDR3 and the boys. What a fun time!! Lot's of laughing and what we called "teambuilding" for the family just trying to get the raft down the mini-rapids. We created our own signature move which we named "the Richardson Spin" which was us basically spinning around backward when we shouldn't have. We got stuck 3-4 times on rocks, but by the end the boys were doing a great job paddling the raft.

After rafting we drove back to the waterfall thinking we could try hiking it; however we had the same problem again with overcrowding and no parking so we unanimously decided to go back to the hotel to swim and play at the beach. Great day of sunshine, no wind which made for a great day in the water and on the beach.

8/9 - Great breakfast at the "Log Cabin" which is a local diner on North Shore. Packed up and back home...;0(

8/10- Boys picked up school schedules to start back high school on Monday. I did some shopping for clothes and supplies.

5:00 pm - 10,704 precor strides, varying incline 1-17, level 6 resistance = 1000 calories.

8/11 - 13.3 mile bike ride with JDR3 on rolling hills. Cooled off with a swim in the pool. Afterwards I took some time to read the new Harry Potter book and dosed off for a short afternoon nap pool-side.
