NyCacTrs Journal

Hi I'm new to this so I will do the best I can. I have been reading this website for a while now and decided to start my own threat. I have been working out all my life so I'm in good shape. Here are my stats:

5'4"
130 lbs (I don't know how come i weigh so much since I'm a size 2, If someone could explain why that would be great)

March 29, 2004

7:30 am- 15minutes on elliptical
20 minutes with arm and leg weight machines
15 minute ab workout.
This is my light day cause I do a lot of working out on weekends.

9:00 am yogurt
1lb grapes
1 apple

1 pm salad with fat free dressing
1 cup tasti d-lite ice cream (its fat free and only 80 calories a cup, and its good for lactose intolerant people like myself)

I'm trying to get a six pack right now. I have a flat stomach but I just need the muscle in that area. If anyone has any idea how I can get it let me know.

Continued from yesterday

4 p.m. Chicken noodle soup (small) and apple

6 p.m. a small bag of pretzels (don't worry I looked at the nutrition label

7 p.m. PB and jelly sandwich on whole wheat

8 p.m. 2 cups of Kelloggs flakes with strawberries and 1% milk

10 p.m. a tiny piece of butter pound cake and a little scoop of ice cream

I usually don't eat like this but I was hungry and sick last week. I also haven't been eating enough fat which is weird but true. This probably why I haven't had any energy.

Mar 30, 2004

Ok this morning I woke up energized and feeling a bit better. So I went to the gym.

I did 5 minutes of stretching
40 minute run (4.7-6.5 mph with .5-1.5 incline) and 5 minute cool down
425 calories
10 minutes of abs

9 a.m. 1lb of grapes and 1 peach

Are you a vegetarian? You need some serious protein in that diet. Use fitday.com for a few days and you'll see that you're eating pretty much nothing. You'll never get a sixpack eating like that.

I used to be a vegetarian. I wasn't getting enough protein so i kept getting stomach ulcers and had to switch back to meat. Its still hard for me to eat meat. I also like to keep my diet low fat, low calorie and thats probably another reason i don't eat meat. I will check out that site though. Thanks for the help. I was going to get some protein bars today.

Cont. from yesterday

11 a.m. bran muffin and apple

1 p.m. Shanghai Chicken salad with low fat ginger dressing

4 p.m. cupcake (someones birthday in the office)

7 p.m. Bhingha Birtha with whole wheat pita and steamed rice (one of my favorite indian dishes its tomatoes and eggplant in a onion sauce)

9 p.m. a cup of grapes and 6 sugar free popsicles (10 calories a pop)

March 31, 2004

6 a.m. a cup of grapes

8 a.m. gym
40 minutes on ellipitical
2 arm weight machines
no much time to do stuff but burned 450 calories

9:30 a.m. egg white fritta and apple

Well I looked at that website and it was great. You are absolutely right about not getting enough protein. I get more fat than protein. I was only getting half the protein that I needed for the day. So I went out and bought some protein bars. Thanks for the advice.

Continued from yesterday

1 p.m.-leftovers of Bhingha Birtha with whole wheat toasted bread and rice

3 p.m. World Wide protein bar (it was very good the s'mores kind)

7 p.m. Lean Cuisine Chicken Primavers-2 cups

9 p.m. 6 lifesaver pops (10 calories each)

Total Calories 1336
protein 75 grams
fat 26 grams
carbs 198 grams

This was a good day. I can't believe I wasn't even that hungry at night. I guess more protein does help with hunger. Then when I came into the gym the next days my weight was 125 lbs so maybe it is the fat grams that makes me weigh more.

April 1, 2004

8 a.m. workout
30 minutes running 5.5 mph 1.0 incline
310 calories
10 minutes on leg and ab weights
10 ab exercises

9 a.m. egg white frittata

10 a.m. apple and orange

I'm going to stick to the more protein based diet cause i think its working and i will see results in a couple of weeks if i keep eating good.

Protein bars a great too, but maybe subsitute in a whey protein shake and chicken, turkey, tuna, eggs, cottage cheese into your diet. It can add some varity to your diet so you dont get bored with just eating the same thing all the time.

just my $.02

Damn man be careful about that sugar intake. I know it can be tough I slipped yesterday but for the most part try and substitute your sweets maybe for a bar such as a Balance Gold bar, etc. Sugar (empty calories) can really hinder your progress in the gym. Are you training with weights?

Cont. from yesterday

1 p.m. Salad with egg white and chicken and fat free dressing
Tasti D-lite ice cream with strawberry topping

4 p.m. Worldwide Pure Protein S'mores bar

7 p.m. Healthy Choice Creamy Herb Roasted Chicken

9 p.m. Lifesaver Sugar Free pops

I think I did pretty good today
1178 calories total
18 fat
154 Carbs
99 Protein

The next day at the gym i noticed I lost another .5 lb. Thats enough motivation for me. I've decided to lay off the fruits a little cause the contain too much carbs.

April 2, 2004

This is going to be a hard day cause i'm going out with my friends to dinner at a sushi place. I might just get chicken terayki since thats good for my diet.

8 a.m. workout
30 minutes on elliptical 375 calories
10 minutes with weights
10 minutes on abs

9 a.m. Egg white frittata

11 a.m. 2 hard boiled eggs

Thanks rrouleau, i might add tuna into my diet next week. I'm going grocery shopping. I haven't had tuna in a long time. I've already started adding more chicken. I usually don't eat meat but I have been noticing a difference.

Monstar, how much carbs should i take in? It said on body builder.com that less then 200 is good for me. Though I am taking ur advice and cutting out fruits for now. I am training with weights almost every other day and on weekend I do a half hour each day. I do arms one day, legs another day, and abs/calves another day. I have been working with free weights too. My brother has been getting me into this and showing me some exercises. He's trying to bulk up and does bodybuilding.

Thanks for anyones advice. I usually try to take it into consideration.

I have been doing good and haven't been as hungry as i used to. At dinner on friday i was so full after just eating a little bit. I think this is so much better then my other dieting. I'm down to 124lbs when I last checked. Everyone can see i lost a little. I didn't thikn i was fat but oh well. I'm going to Hawaii in June so I have to look good. I can't wait to see my best friend who lives down there.

I also have added a lot of protein and actually see some stomach muscles forming. I have never had a six pack before so its very exciting.

I'm Back......

Sorry, but I'm back now. I'm still working out 6 days a week and watch what I carefully. Once every two week I do manage to cheat a lot. This Sunday was one of my cheat days but since I wrote down what I was going to eat I managed to stay at around 1850 calories.

Sunday July 25th, 2004
7 a.m. Got up early to take my bro to the airport so I went to the gym so early. I also weighed myself which I haven't done in a long time and I was at 114.5 calories which is low for me so I didn't feel so bad about eating a lot (I'm 5' 3.5" tall).

1 hour ski machine
20 minutes of weight training (maining arms and ab machines)
Had 1 sugar free red bull to get my energy up and a cup of raspberries.

12 p.m. Campbells Wonton soup with .5 cup of Fat Free Mozzerala cheese

3 p.m. 3 pieces of low carb bread with 1 cup Better eggs, 1 tablespoon bacon bits, and 3 teaspoons low sugar maple syrup
Basically made my idea of low carb french toast and egg omelete w/ bacon.

5 p.m. Low carb sugar free chocolate pudding, 7 sugar free creamsicles, and 6 sugar free fudgesicles (everything was low carb and almost fat free)

7 p.m. My famous salad (Perdue Grilled Italian shortcuts, 1 tablespoon bacon bits, .5 cup of Better eggs, 6 pieces of Turkey breast deli slices, bag of Italian lettuce, and no carb italian dressing)

9 p.m. Lifesavers sugar free popsicles

Came out to 1821 calories, 25g fat, 234g carbs, 170g protein
13% fat, 46% carbs, 40% protein
Burned 653 calories

Ok now back to my regular routine

Monday July 26th, 2004

9 a.m. 2 pieces of low carb bread, .75 of Better eggs, 1 tablespoon bacon bits, 1 sugar free Red bull, 1 cup of ff cottage cheese w/ .5 cup of blueberries, and two egg whites. Believe me this filled me up to last a while

11 a.m. Campbells Wonton Soup

2 p.m. McDonalds Grilled California Cobb Salad w/ LF Balsamic Vinegarette Dressing and 12 oz. Fat Free non-dairy low sugar Ice Cream (Tasti D-lite my favorite dessert ever)

7 p.m. gym
50 hour elliptical machine (Couldn't do the whole hour cause i felt nauseous so I quit and left) I really felt like i was going to puke

8 p.m. Chicken noodle soup w/ .5 cup of mozzerala cheese (needed something to make me feel better, soup always helps)

9 p.m. My famous Salad (Perdue Grilled Italian Shortcuts, 2 tablespoons bacon, 2 tablespoons parmesan cheese .5 cup of Better eggs, 6 pieces of Deli Turkey Slices, 7 slices of Cucumber, 1 bag of Lettuce, and no carb italian Dressing)

9:30 p.m.Lifesavers sugarfree popsicles

10 p.m. I have my own free weights home and since I didn't get to doing them at the gym and felt much better after i ate I decided to do 20 minutes of reps and 5 minutes of crunches)
