Outrageous October Talia's
Another journal started and this one is going to be great I can feel it already!
my stats for last month were:
1558 Calories
57 grams of fat
1964 grams of sodium
149 grams of carbs
101 grams of protein
I am pretty happy with these numbers. I am going to stick to these and try to lower the average fat grams because I think this is my main concern!
In march I averaged 51! when I was in vegetarian months I was averaging 41-44 sooOo... WE WILL SEE
Today's workout is my creation called
"Octoberfest"
40-30-20-10
for time of:
bench dips-body weight
jumping jacks
full sit-ups
upright rows -31lb barbell
time: 10:15
cardio: 22:30 on stair master
cardio: 22:30 on elliptical

yesturday I also went for a walk with my mom about 1.4-1.5 miles
today:
25 min on elliptical
break for a drink
23 min on elliptical
So I am not sure what I am going to be for halloween but if my boyfriend is going to be Frankenstein then I am going to be the bride but their is a "sexy bride of frankenstein" costume online I want and I am going to work super hard for the next 29 days to get that stomach lookin good! my goal: average out at 40grams of protein by then. I am eating way too much fat and realizing that this is a huge part of my weight gain and reason why I have been so uncomforable lately

Happy October!
I don't think fat is always the bad guy. I've had days where my fat consumption was 50% of my total calories and I found I ate less on those days. A higher fat diet with reduced carbs will probably give you a better body appearance that a low fat higher carb one, unless you are doing some serious endurance training.

I completely agree with peirini! I feel awesome since I reduced my carbs (especially 'grain' carbs) and increased my fat.
I think aiming for less than 100g of carbs is a better bet than trying to reduce your fat. Eat more fat and less carbs, you will be less hungry that way and less bloated.

Hi Talia,
Andy (.v.) speaks with more experience than me on this but I do have some episodes since I've resumed foot journaling in which my fat consumption was 50% of my calories. I'm not suggesting that you eat this way every day. In fact, my experience was that after a couple of days eating a high fat diet that my body was telling me to give it a break and have some carbs. I'm saying "experiment".
Working with a daily caloric consumption of 1,600 calories, 50% fat would have you eating 89 grams, so try a day when you target between 90 and 100 grams. Keep your carb grams for the day below 100 grams.
Eat a substantial breakfast with plenty of fat, say 40% of your total. Then toss away the clock that you normally use to tell you it is time to eat and replace it with your hunger appetite, not that brain telling you that you are bored and it's time to eat or that it is a certain time and it's time to eat, but your body sending signals to your brain that it needs fuel.
My guess is that you'll eat less with a high fat diet, have fewer insulin spikes and your body will utilize this food fuel more efficiently. Now if you were training for a marathon, I'd probably make a different suggestion.
And don't forget to drink lots of water.
I'm not an expert in this but people talk about carb cycling in which they eat alot of carbs on one day after a series of higher-fat eating days. I have no experience with this.
hello! how much of a reduced carb? like how many carbs per day? last month I averaged 55 grams of fat and 149 grams of carbs and had gained 5 pounds over the course of July-september because before July I was eating way less fat. What if I kept my fat levels low and my carb levels the same? so about 40grams of fat with 150-155 grams of carbs average?

I think this carb below 100 grams is something I honestly don't think I could do and even if I did I don't think I could stick with it so I am going to experiment this month with keeping carbs the same and fat lower.
I know you guys know what you are talking about but I just think I have a hard enough time as it is keeping my carbs at 150 and to get any further below that I would probably go back to having the stress I did when I was a vegetarian!
I ate WAY too much sodium yesturday and the scale is paying for it today, up 5lbs haha so I am going to try and not jump on the scale again until Thursday and work hard core to get it back down to 129.2 or finally a solid 129! be back later to post workout

I am still very annoyed with myself that I have been eating a lot of sodium. I did it again today from those stupid pretzels I had in my desk drawer from Sunday so today I took them home and from now on in addition to the 8 c's I am adding pretzels!!! seriously! what is wrong with me? and now I just depress myself even more because my weigh in is supposed to be tomorrow and I am heavier than I was when I got weighed I am also still on TOM so I know that might be affecting it too, which I know shouldn't get me upset but I just feel gross and like I haven't gotten anywhere in the past 6 weeks
today's workout
cardio first
15 min octane
15 min stair climber
1. walking lunges around the whole gym-UM WOW
2. abs- running man, 1 set, 12 reps
3. bose ball deadlifts with 36lbs, 1 set, 10 reps- these were so hard! my balance is super bad!
4. abs- double crunch, 1 set, 10 reps
5. hamstring curls on stability ball 1 set, 10 reps
6. abs- 12lb dumbell, legs and arms up in air, 1 set, 10 reps
7. leg extension- 50lbs, 10 half up, 10 halfway down, 10 full- HOLY **** haha
repeat 2 more times
great workout. we both agreed we needed to do something with weights and I had written out for us to do "Barbara" but I wanted to do something with weights too.
So tomorrow is 30 days with none of the 8 c's- although I forgot to mention the other day, last week thursday I was offered a citrust mint, or so I thought, when I went to grab another one I saw the word candy on the box and spit it out! so I ate 1 freakin piece of candy, but other than that, no cookies, no chocolate, no cereal (which was really hard), no ice cream, no crackers (again pretty hard), no cake, and no whatever the other one was
The next 11 days I am going to watch my sodium intake and hopefully get that scale back down to a decent number that I will feel proud about when I weigh in again. I am going to monitor it and then schedule a RT for next week thursday. My boyfriend and I were planning on going to Letchworth state park anyways that day so it would definitely be worth it to get up early and workout and then be out by his house anyways afterwards, righ? right. So no more pretzels and I am also going to try and cut back on the peanuts, like I will have peanut butter, crunchy of course, but try and not munch on the nuts!!

It sure is difficult to not eat those pretzels when the person who gave them to you and telling you to eat them has a gun pointed at your head.

Good job on testing your discipline and your 30 days of abstinence but, truth be told, you have been like a dry drunk during those 30 days. Sobriety is better than abstinence but abstinence is still good.
To put things in context, I've been doing a little junk-eating lately, nothing serious.

Last saturday I ate a chocolate eclair and I washed it down with three beers. I was quite tipsy, 3 beers is a lot for me these days

so what does that mean "dry drunk" ? yeah I know the chex mix, well it was there, at work, my boss just downed a whole bad, yeah no I am not lying, a whole bad and didn't want the other so I dug in. Of course I was hungry and just wanted something to eat..but whatever...I said no to chocolate but believe me I will be having some on halloween!!
today's workout:
30 min of inntervals
2 min 4.3mph 1.5 incline
2 min 6.5mph 1.5 incline
abs
light workout today probably going to do some cardio and light weights tomorrow since I have off
scale said 130.2 this morning so I was excited to see it down from 135 the other day!
I weighed myself this afternoon on the BAC scale and it said 135 though so thats just freakin annoying. I did drink a lot of fluids before that though, I have a re-test next Thursday so we will see. I am not going to eat or drink anything before and hopefully from the time I get up to the time I go there I won't gain 5 lbs. I was 132 the last time I was weighed at 9 in the morning 6 weeks ago and my goalwas to be 130 this time so I just really want that to happen for me!
