Wow Pierini!
What ever you are doing is working. I ruled the guy in the middle out because he looked too young.
That is one incredible pic for a guy your age! I am amazed!
I'll be paying a bit more attetion to your diary from now on!

Wholly crap Mr P, I mean, Sir!
Purple rain, purple rain! You look like the artist once again known as "Prince". I am impressed.... totally in a correct way of course!!! That photo beats your avatar hands down.
I'm still not sure of which person is being singled out as JDR3, but the whole group looks good!
Thanks for the head's up Rufiedog. I'll be looking forward to your upcoming journal here. I don't know if weights are any less youth giving than aerobic activity when it comes to looks. I've seen a lot of old faces on young bodies in the runners crowd. Photos tell a story but rarely capture the whole person.
I'm guessing that most regulars here look and move even younger and better than their photos indicate.

That make 3 of us - I thought he was the third from the right. I guess looks are deceiving.
Keep up the hard work Mr P :

Ok, I'm 8 from the left or 6 from the right.
Behind Pierini on the right.
Maybe Gymgirl didn't get me?

Lots of kind words from everyone who stopped by. Thanks!
Arrived at the gym at 3:20 p.m.
Warm-up on the treadmill at 1% incline - 800 meters at 7.5 mph.
Today's WOD was similar to "Nicole" on Tuesday except I substituted bar dips for the pullups. So it was 400 meters on the treadmill at 1% incline followed by max set bar dips = 1 round. Today I completed 7 rounds plus 180 meters during the 8th round in 20 minutes.
#1 = 9.0 mph and 20 - #2 = 9.5 mph and 13 - #3 = 9.7 mph and 10 - #4 = 10.0 mph and 8 - #5 = 10.0 mph and 8 - #6 = 10.0 mph and 8 - #7 = 10.0 mph and 8 - #8 = 10.0 mph for 180 meters.
I think this WOD is tougher with the pullups than the dips but both are challenging. I really like this WOD because I get my 400 meter interval training in but my rest is the pullups/dips rather than a jog. I'll do both of these again.
My average HR was 155 bpm (84% of max) and my highest HR was 171 bpm (92% of max). HRs were 1 bpm higher than Tuesday for both average and high although today I ran a little faster and it didn't seem quite as tough as Tuesday.
Then on the floor to stretch my hams, quads, glutes, calves, etc.
Have a great day!
Pax Domini sit semper vobiscum.

Hi minime,
The "girl" to my right is a woman who is not much younger than me. We are an aging group but we still train hard, and all the guys see a 16 year old kid when they look in the mirror.
I've always wanted to see Dodgeball, maybe now I will. But the new Rocky which comes out December 22nd will come first. Have a great day!

you guys all look freckin fantastic! keep up the great work, it is definitely showing for both of you pierini and jdr! (p.s. sorry your hair looks strawberry blonde on my work comupter but when i got home i can see it is more brownish! same guy though!)
mr. p i like how you changed up nicole and went with dips! you sure did a lot of them too and made a lot of rounds. nice work! on one of your weight training days (are you doing those anymore, i can't remember) it might be fun to replace dips/pull-ups with cleans or snatches.

Rest day. Needed it!
Saturday, December 16, 2006
At home in my basement at 7:45 a.m. - standard grip pullups x 15, pushups x 30 and BW squats x 45.
A 30 mile drive later - Saturday morning dojo workout. Hard workout.
Afterwards at the high school track - with a karate buddy, a 2 mile jog in 21:16, just to keep the legs loose.
At home again in my basement at 1:45 p.m. - another round of standard grip pullups x 15 and pushups x 30.
Spent the rest of the day helping my wife make tamales for Christmas Day, or so I thought until she said that me saying "are you almost done yet" doesn't count as helping.
Sunday, December 17, 2006
Early morning 5k fun run. My time for the 3.1 mile distance was 21:56 which is a 7:04/mile pace. I missed my goal of being within 6:50-7:00/mile pace so I am disappointed. Today's run was extra hard. I think I needed more rest before the run and my warm-up could have been better. My average Hr was 164 bpm (89% of max) and my highest HR was 194 bpm (105% of max).
Mile #1 was 6:50 (6:50/mile pace), mile #2 was 14:00 (7:00/mile pace) and mile #3 was 21:10 (7:04/mile pace). I really had a hard time today. My plan was to run at 165-175 HR bpm but I only spent 1:10 in this zone. Everything was off today. It happens every now and then. Plus it was cold outside, California style cold, about 30-35F degrees.
I'm sitting on the couch in front of my fireplace the rest of today.
Next week I'm at a client's location all week near my home so I won't be going to the gym all week, but I will be training in my basement plus getting some runs in, getting ready for a New Year's Eve 2 mile fun run.
My logs are current. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
Pax Domini sit semper vobiscum.
p.s. gymgirl, I like your suggestion and I'll add that WOD variation to my to do list. If, for example, I do power clean and push presses as a substitute for the pullups, I'm not sure how much weight I should use or what a good targeted rep performance should be. I'll have to give it some thought. Thanks!
