Very impressive workout. It's amazing that your running has improved that much in such a short period of time.

Thanks Andy and Eric. I was long overdue for a big jump in my running performance and it finally came through after a lot of patience. Interesting is that I've only been running once a week and getting a hard-core CrossFit workout in one day a week. Maybe I am on to something. More isn't always better.

Well done! I'm sure you noticed that your weight has been ever-so-slighlty higher with each test, yet your times improved. I find that counter-intuitive, but then again, you may be heavier and leaner (muscle mass) now.

Hi Jason,

That does seem to be a bit counter-intuitive, I've thought the same think, trying to get down to 175 lbs., thinking that is a better running weight.

But what I have discovered is that the body has an amazing ability to go where it wants you to be, and at this point in my life, 180 lbs. seems to be my magic number. I've run really well at 180 lbs., moreso that at lower weights. I don't think I would want to be any heavier though as long as I have unmet running goals.

Thanks for stopping by.

Soooo crossfit does make one more fit for endurance goals? No suprise there.

Eating enough to support your training helps too? Again, not suprised.

Good Job Mr. P. Reaching goals is exciting stuff!

It will be interesting to see how the running transfers to a track. IMO, a 1% grade should be slightly more difficult than a flat surface outside.

I’m impressed with how well you do pull-ups. You are not light in weight (I think your weight 175?). You are moving a good amount of weight for a lot of reps.

It took me 3 years to work up to 162.5 pound standard grip lat pull-down for 20 reps, and I weigh more than you. I’m impressed!

Your hard work is paying off

IMO—I think if you cycled in some weighted pull-ups (varying the weight) you’d have a better shot at reaching your BWx20 goal.

Just a suggestion.

Mistake Alert--

It's worse than I thought. My max standard grip lat pull-down is only 137.5 pounds for 20 reps. My max for 12 reps is 162.5.

And you are doing 175 for 18 reps?( I think pull-ups are harder than lat pulldowns too) Amazing!

I would like to think I'll get there some day but seems a long way away.

Good work Mr. P

Great job pierini! Another year and you still have it. Your test results are a great testimony to consistency in training. Good luck on Monday.

Dan, I believe you'll get there if you want it bad enough. FYI 179.5 lbs. this morning. 175 lbs. doesn't seem what my body is telling me where I need to be. I think 180 lbs. is where I belong. Oh, I incorporate weighted pullups in my training mix in pursuit of the elusive 20 rep set. My body is not just ready to go there yet, but I believe 19 reps is right around the corner.

Thanks Bob. I'll be watching you if you decide to give it a shot. Why not "earn" that birthday cake?

Seraph, thanks, if I can do it you can do it if you want to.

Superb accomplishment! :

I guess all those eggs plus no chips, candy, crackers, soda and alcohol have been good for you. You really do not eat much food for all the energy you spend.
