Arrived at the gym at 6:10 a.m.
Elliptical trainer - resistance and incline both at level 10 for a 5 minute warmup, completing 908 strides which was 44 less than yesterday.
Supersets
SS #1
standard grip pullups (SGPU) BW+25 lbs. x 10, then drop set of BW SGPU x 6.
bar dips BW+25 lbs. x 10, then drop set of knuckle pushups x 20.
Marine situps x 50.
SS #2
standard grip pullups (SGPU) BW+35 lbs. x 6, then drop set of BW SGPU x 6.
bar dips BW+35 lbs. x 10, then drop set of knuckle pushups x 20.
Marine situps x 50.
SS #3
standard grip pullups (SGPU) BW+45 lbs. x 4, then drop set of BW SGPU x 6.
bar dips BW+45 lbs. x 6, then drop set of knuckle pushups x 20.
Marine situps x 50.
Only rest in drop sets was just the time to get the weight and the belt off. Each superset with rest took about 10 minutes to complete. The weighted bar dip with drop set pushups was the toughest part of this workout. Actually this was tougher than I thought it would be as I had plans for 5 supersets, dropping back down to another set of 35 lbs. and 25 lbs. but I scratched that plan. I also scratched my planned single set of BW squats x 170 reps, I'll do that tomorrow. And I skipped my standard stretching session. I guess I was a little tired this morning. I'll try again tomorrow.
The next couple of days I'm going directly to a client's location from home so it will be my quick and dirty morning and evening basement training sessions that I've done in the past. I'd like to get a burpee workout in on Thursday to get in shape for my upcoming debt settlement with Tim for my planned losing the egg-eating contest. We will see.
Have a great day!
Pax Domini sit semper vobiscum.

Hi minime,
I think all this chatter between gymgirl and you about how hungry you are is making me hungry. I've already got over 1,200 cals in my gut and it's only 8:08 a.m. my time.
Nice job on the 70 reps in 2 minutes. Are your hip flexors your failing point when you do those situps or is it something else?

So during lunchtime today I make my annual pilgrimage to See's Candies to buy my wife and my office associate a heart-shaped box of candies for Valentine's Day. The sales clerk decides to me nice to me and she gives me a complimentary dark chocolate with almonds 2 oz. chocolate bar (290 cals and 20 grams of fat). I like dark chocolate.
So this little devil sitting over my right shoulder whispers to me "go ahead, eat it, Tim will never know, it's just between you and me. You train hard and you deserve it."
Then this little angel sitting over my left shoulder shouts down "you better be honest, besides if Tim will never know, you will, and you've got to live with yourself."
So after having racing thoughts about how fast I could devour it, maybe set a new PR, I eventually decided to put in in the bag along with the other goodies I bought. Either my wife or my office associate will get an extra goodie.
But it was a fun temptation while it lasted. Kind of like flirting or teasing. Maybe I should send it to my cyberspace fitness brother Tim!

pssst.
Hey, eat it. It will taste good. Mmmm chocolate. You know how much you LOVE burpees. Mmmm eat it and do burpees.
I actually made it about 6 cookies and 2 cups of milk into the "oreos with tate" experience that was posted on here somewhere not too long ago.
I just got all of my ladies ear rings. No temptation there. I'll pick them up some flowers tomorrow to go with them. Even the little ones like flowers. I think it was a hint.."yesterday my 17 year old said, "you know dad, I never would have said it, but when I was little and in the public school I always loved it when you sent flowers to my class." No classes to send them too now though, her new school isn't set up that way so I'll just have to give them to her in person.

Good job passing on the chocolate! As a choco-addict myself, I know that's tough. I have had those moments myself, "Pierini will never know" but I haven't given in. Like you said, I would know and that's bad enough.
Don't send it to me!

Awe this is your journal so I won't get into it in a big way, but I would have eaten the chocolate bragged about it to Tim and gotten on with my day, with the chocolate having no impact on my workout or life.
If chocolates are so dang bad, what does that say about the thought behind giving it to your wife and your office assistant? (rhetorical question)
Welch I like jewelry too. I can wear it around my neck not my waistline.

Well, just speaking for myself (and in answer to your rhetorical question - kind of), one chocolate probably wouldn't be a big deal at all. I can't eat just one, though, I would end up eating my wife's entire box of chocolates in 2 days. Next day I would probably have a big bowl of chocolate ice cream with chocolate syrup. Swearing them off altogether seems to be the only way to deal with it since I'm demonstrably unable to keep my consumption down to reasonable levels.

Yeah I'm giving Mr. P a hard time. Anyone who reads my food journal realizes that chocolate is a food group in my world. I also understand that for some people it triggers problems with consumption.
I know one thing though, all this talk about See's Candy brand is making me more and more curious to try it. My expectations is for it to be the best indulgence of all time. We have a few Godiva chocolate boutiques here. To be honest I don't find their product worth the money. It's good, but there's no urge to keep on going it's so rich and satisfying. The Laura Secord (a Canadian brand) and the Rocky Mountain candy shops have better chocolate IMHO.

That's a fair question Brat. My wife is someone who can open up a box of See's candies, pull out one piece and put the box back in the refrigerator.
Me, I want to see how fast I can finish the box off. Kind of like the same mindset when I was doing "Brat".
Tim and I both are working the 12-step program. I have a little more recovery under my belt than him, but for both of us, relapse is only a breathe away.
I'd like to dangle a piece of See's candy if front of you and tell you that you can have it if you can catch me. That might be one way to get you to pick up those aching sticks of pain and run fast!

I'm sorry Mr P.
Would you like it if I sent a case of Slimfast to you for Valentine's day?
Those aching sticks of pain have turned to hardened lumps of deadweight. You can have a head start and I'll catch up.

At home in my basement at 7:10 a.m.
#1 = standard grip pullups x 18
#2 = pushups using pushup handles x 50
#3 = BW squats x 170 in 6:09 (last week was 160 in 6:00 - next week will be 180 reps).
That's it for today. I'm a little tired today. Something is better than nothing. I'm going to a client's location today straight from home so hence the basement workout. I was planning on a quick evening workout like this morning but I'll skip it. I'm going to my Mother's home this evening for a Valentine's Day visit, some roses but no chocolates for her.
Have a great day and to all my beautiful DiscussFitness cyberspace fitness sisters who stop by and pay my thread a visit, have a Happy Valentine's Day!
Pax Domini sit semper vobiscum.
p.s. Brat, by virtue of the last person standing, you win yesterday's cyberspace "battle". If you were my sister and we were young, we'd be having lots of pillow fights and I might even pull your hair a couple times.

Mr. P,
I looked over you current Journal observing how often you perform pull-ups. This is what I found:
Mon
Tuesday
Sat
Mon
Tue
Wed
I think by anyone’s standards—this is a lot of pull-ups. I thought 2 consecutive days on week one was extreme, only to discover 3 consecutive days this week .
The other thing that stands out is your method seems to be without a plan (no obvious pattern) of any type.
Not typical in my opinion.
Not questioning your success, just trying to figure out how you’re achieving it
Love to hear your comments.
Dan
