Way to demonstrate a good wholesome life.

You served the body well with your PT test, you served your mind well with practicing discipline and self control in your eating and fitness schedule and you serve your spirit well by practising your faith.:

I am going to stick with my erroneous understanding and have two small meals. Since I normally eat about 3,000 calories a day, I will limit myself to about 800 calories in two small meals. And yes no meat. If I didn't need to use my brain for work I would be willing to have a strict 24 hour fast and drink only water. But I need food for my brain to work, and my brain needs to work tomorrow because I am busy with my work.
wow that is impressive. i think i would need to take a week off before and after fasting like that for 1 day. your amazing mr. p.

p.s. glad you had a nice birthday!

Happy Belated Birthday Awesome job on your PT test! I'm always impressed that you fast for Ash Wednesday. Not many people do - even the ones that say they're religous!

That is a serious long time to hold a plank. Are you doing them on your forearms or hands?
Nice workouts you throw up some serious volume. Quick question? Why do you do cardio for 5 minutes to warmup?

I'll have to read more thoroughly through your log when I have a sec.

Complete day of training rest and a day of fasting from DiscussFitness to observe Ash Wednesday. Fulfilled my fasting obligation, by eating 2 very small meals (791 calories) with about 80 oz. of water. Surprisingly, it wasn't that difficult.

Thursday, February 22, 2007
Arrived at the gym at 5:55 a.m. with a morning BW down 3 lbs. from the previous morning. I'll fix that before the day is over.

Elliptical trainer - resistance and incline both at level 10 for a 5 minute warmup, completing 1,008 strides (+18 from 2/20/2007).

Weighted single-rep standard grip pullups - first I warmed up by doing a BW single rep. Then I did singles with the following added weight: 45-55-70-80-85PR-85. Then I did a final max effort set of BW x 17. I figured since my morning BW was down the timing was right to shoot for a PR. It has been some time since I last tried. I was a little light-headed after completing both sets of 85 lbs.

Burpees - my plan yesterday was to do 150 reps which I modified this morning to 100 reps, which I again then modified after about 30 reps. I eventually did 50 reps which I completed in 5:07. Had I known I was only going to do 50 reps, I would have ramped things up a bit. I decided to do less after realizing that my energy just wasn't there due, of course, to yesterday's very light eating. I'll try again next week. I'm going to stick with burpees once a week as much as I can't stand them because they are doing me good as evidenced by my recent running performance.

Stretching - on the floor to stretch my hams, quad, glutes, calves, etc.

Answer's to Ty's Questions - Hi Ty and thanks for stopping by. The ab plank hold was resting on my forearms. I spend 5 minutes on the elliptical to warmup and wakeup since I train so early in the morning. It gives me one last chance to finalize my workout since don't work with a firm, must-do-this-on-this-day, training plan. Thanks for asking.

I'm glad to be back in the DiscussFitness saddle. Have a great day everyone!

Pax Domini sit semper vobiscum.

great workout pierini : especially considering your light eating yesterday! one would think you would have no energy at all, but I guess the human body works in mysterious ways and often surprises us.

I'm expecting to see 4000 calories for today in your log

Wow +85 for a pull up, that's a good amount to add. What is your bodyweight?

I have been averaging 180 lbs. lately but after yesterday's Ash Wednesday fast (only ate 791 cals), I tipped the scale at 176.5 lbs. this morning at 5:00 a.m. That is why I thought it would be good to try some singles and attempt 85 lbs. for a PR. It worked!

Thanks for stopping by.

Arrived at the gym at 6:00 a.m.

Elliptical trainer - resistance and incline both at level 10 for a 5 minute warmup, completing 1,013 strides (+5 more than yesterday).

Pullup bar hanging knees-to-elbows - a single set of max reps with no swinging, completed 15 reps.

4-count cherry pickers - a single set of slow reps x 25 to warmup my lower back and hamstrings for deadlifts.

Deadlifts - warmup of 45x10 and 135x5. Then sets of single reps as follows: 185-225-245-265-285PR-300fail-300fail. I'll try 300 in 4-6 weeks but now I know where I am at, thanks to JDR3 for his counsel.

Weighted dips - warmup of BWx5. Then sets of single reps as follows: 70-80-90-100-105PR. Then BWx25. The 105 came a little easier than the 100. I think it will be some time before I add more weight. I need to be safe and not sorry. Maybe next workout will be double reps.

So I'm going to Monterey, California this weekend to celebrate my 29th wedding anniversary, Sunday is the actual date. Monterey is by the coast so I'm hoping for nice weather and some nice breezy coastal air to breathe.

Pax Domini sit semper vobiscum.
